1.
Recent middle size concert in Cardiff (3-5000 I guess). All I can say is that if I was the artist concerned I would have been mighty disappointed with the sound. Immense (too much) bass and kick drum, sufficient to make balcony shake, just an indistinct thump. - vocals harsh when singer at full tilt. All just too loud. Did not do the artist justice. Has made me think though - no need for anything more than a cheap bass because any subtlety will be lost if this is the foh mix that is in vogue. Band played well, plenty of energy, very tight, would have been outstanding gig with good mix. The support act - vocals & two guitars had their sound massacred. How hard is it to mix two vocals, one electric guitar and one acoustic?
No more than a cheap bass required? I'd agree absolutely. I've played hundreds of gigs, from pubs to outside festivals, using anything from a Squier Precision to a Vigier Passion - and out front there is very little, if any, difference, IMO. On stage it'll sound very different, but not out front. I actually used the Squier on a tour, just to see if it made any difference! And no, the sound guys just take your DI & make it sit somewhere "down below", with none of the consistency, subtlety or definition that we spend hours practicing. Actually you can get a better sound in the smaller gigs as you're more in control.
2.
Given the lack of signature on the back of the headstock, perhaps the dime is Mark's new 'logo'?
Very good! Hadn't thought of that! Should be "Dimelight" then, I suppose.
3.
What's with the dime?
Don't know - Mark put it there when he made it. It looks like as if there's been an extra knob there but filled in, although of course there hasn't been! People do ask, though.
4. Late responder, but here's mine (pics off Mark's website). Absolutely love it, it's my #1 bass for most things & better than all other Fenders I've played (& I've played a few). I don't know what pickups he's used but they sound fantastic, gutsy & bright. I love the relicing, "genuine-looking" or not, & the dime is a good talking point. I think this must be one of the only Limelights without the Limelight signature as well!
5. Would you be interested in a swap for a Sandberg TT 5-string? Plus £250 cash? Igor2 is the bass itself, Igor1 is the previous owner playing it. I can of course send more pics if required. Thanks, Pete
6. Looking to sell a Fender Modern Player Jazz bass in black. Rosewood neck, usual JB control configuration. Good condition - a small ding on the back of the neck & one on the headstock but otherwise no marks or scratches. I'm after a similar "normal" 4-string jazz bass if you're interested in p/x - black preferably or any-tone sunburst, up to £500 value. Bass is in Horsham, West Sussex. Prefer collection only but can deliver a reasonable distance. I only bought this off ebay last week but have decided it's not for me. Thanks, Pete
7. For sale, my lovely Mayones Jabba 4 Custom. I believe it dates back to 2010 and I'm the second owner (bought it from Bass Direct a few months ago). Absolutely blemishless, plays like a dream, sounds everywhere from your usual passive Jazz to all the more modern tones you could need, but if you're interested you'll know that anyway. I'm only selling as I've just bought back my beloved Vigier Passion III, having sold it some years ago, so now the Mayones is superfluous. Would I trade? Yes, possibly - for a similar quality 5-string, say another Mayones, a Sandberg or similar. Collection from Horsham (weekends) or Ipswich (during the week), or we can sort something out. Please get in touch if you're interested!
8.
I'm also extremely interested. Been wanting something like this for a while now.
I bought exactly this bass from him last weekend & have been using it live since (5 gigs in all). a) absolutely wonderful bass, faultless! Set up perfectly as well, no alteration of string height or tuning required at all (this is the first bass I've EVER bought that hasn't needed something doing!). Lovely bloke, came up to meet me as I was on my way down to Cornwall. I did buy on blind faith, but have done so many times before (eBay etc) & either been lucky or there are more genuine people out there than you'd think! I'm going to keep looking at his website & see what comes up Limelight-wise. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.
9. Sorry, Purpolaris, got enough cabs, heads, etc. Cheers, Peter
10. Not really looking to trade, but what were you thinking of?
11. Bump! It's a great cab, make me an offer! Cheers, Peter
12. Apologies for the late response. Yes, the Wah is true bypass, switchable on/off, and can be used as a volume pedal as well. See http://www.bass.se/2009/wahone.htm for full details. Cheers, Peter
13. [s]Used but fully-working SWR Goliath Senior 6x10 4ohm cab. Obvious signs of use but in full working order. The second picture shows the only sign of damage to this - the surround to the tweeter knob is cracked & there's a bit missing, but this in no way affects the cab's operation & is purely cosmetic. Collection from Horsham only, although if you live in Sussex/Surrey or nearby I'll deliver for a very reasonable charge. Awesome cab, very loud but excellent extension, etc. £400 ono.[/s] Now sold subject to the usual.

15. I've decided to sell my complete pedalboard, although it pains me to do so. Needs must, however! All these pedals are in full working order & cosmetically near perfect. Any imperfections etc noted with each line. All prices INCLUDE postage within the UK. Here we go: [s]TC Electronic Polytune - £55[/s] NOW GONE [s]MXR Smartgate - £90[/s] NOW GONE [s]EBS MultiComp - £85 (please note that this is the older pedal WITHOUT true bypass - although as it's always on I don't think this is important)[/s] NOW GONE Aphex Bass Xciter - £100 [s]Big Knob Bushy Bison - £75 (UK-made Woolly Mammoth clone/copy - nice pedal)[/s] NOW GONE [s]Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus - £45 - with box[/s] NOW GONE EBS WahOne - £135 - with box [s]T Rex Fuel Tank Classic - £90 - with box[/s] NOW GONE Diago Showman pedalboard - £75 (excellent condition physically, ie everything works well, but obviously has scuffs from touring - that's what it's for!!) With each of these I'll include at least one interconnect (depends how many I can find!), and with the Fuel Tank I'll include all the power connectors I can find. Cheers!

17. Bought a Zoom B9.1ut from aldude - despatched immediately, perfect condition as described, etc. Trustworthy & recommended!!
18.
For sale, the highly rated B9.1ut. I bought this off basschat in "as new" condition a couple of months ago, and used it a little since, but due to the wife and kids and all that I just haven't had the time to explore it properly so it really ought to go to a better home. Sounds fantastic when used though, probably partly due to the tube preamp, and I love the chromatic tuner, the response time is astonishing. I hope that the original owner doesn't mind the link to the original thread and pics: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...1&hl=b9.1ut I got this for £210 posted, it's in pretty much the same condition as I got it, i.e. as new. I'd like to get that back. If you collect it, which is preferred, I'll let it go for £200.
Hi - do you still have this? Definitely interested! [email protected] or 07595 551179. Cheers, Pete
19. Sounds fun! I'm an experienced bassist (aged 44) in all the genres you're looking for, a fast learner with a good ear, live in Horsham but have reliable transport & will travel. Currently I play for 24 Carat Purple (www.24caratpurple.com - I'm a founder member, the tall one with the short hair!) and Kerosene (a pub covers band) and am permanently depping for Deeply Purple (www.deeplypurple.co.uk), but am looking for something a little different while maintaining all these. We're not usually that busy, truth be told! So I'm interested! Email on [email protected] if you are! Cheers, Peter
