2. For sale only - this early example of Mark's work, a Limelight Custom Guitars 2012 Fender Precision '58 tribute. I think it's serial number 00102, the second bass Mark built, but I may be wrong. I'm selling this reluctantly & will no doubt regret it hugely, as this is a superb bass, but a change in circs leads me to downsize my bass collection. This bass feels & plays like a '58 should, & while all may not like the relicing I think it's superb. There are no issues with it at all. Message me with any interest, I'll take more pics if required.
3. Here we have my Fender USA Standard Precision, rosewood neck, '95 according to the serial number. Black on black. I bought it used a few years ago, was my main bass for years until I bought two Limelights & this is now underused. It's the Standard version of the time - through strings, no S-1 switch. Pickups have been upgraded to Seymour Duncan SPB-3 Quarterpounder pickups, & it has the added benefit of a Hipshot D-tuner. Also Schaller straplock buttons. I used to have a Babicz full contact bridge on there, but I've refitted the original bridge. For this reason it'll probably need setting up to your taste. It also has a Fender shaped hard case, but I have no idea if this is the original case. Cosmetically very good for a well-loved, 20-year-old bass. There are a few dings on the headstock, very minor, & one ding on the lower edge, but overall the bass is very clean & a real pleasure to play. Looking for £850 ono, make me an offer, collection from Horsham, I'll deliver many places for fuel, will post at cost, just ask! I'll leave this on here for a week before offering elsewhere. 4. I'd agree - I have two, a P-Bass & a Jazz, both are superb & the best "Fenders" I've played. Mark is a lovely guy & I've dealt with him a few times. But I agree with the GAS sentiments on here - and I've sold a lot of beautiful basses (Vigier, Fender, Gibson, etc) quite simply because I've needed the money!
5.
Excellent, where did you get yours from ? I tried a Dingwall and it wasn't comfortable. The spacing is just a bit too big for me,
Got mine at GAK on Friday - they arrived with them on Thursday. I only find that it's a bit of a stretch very low down on the B/E strings. The rest of the spacings are pretty normal, so much so I've been playing for a few hours now & don't even have to think about it. I can thoroughly recommend it!
6. Used but basically mint Yamaha TRBX305. Comes with RokTek gig bag, brand new. Based Horsham, will deliver for £0 reasonably locally, free collection, £15 postage. For sale only but open to reasonable offers.
7. Here we go - got mine yesterday, have played it a fair bit at home, gigging it tonight. First impressions - looks great (personal opinion, some people hate it), feels superb, easier to get used to than I thought it would be (in fact the fanned frets make very little difference to playing style or position), sounds absolutely brilliant. I love the Ibanez neck (despite being a mainly Precision player), it's a natural matt finish so it feels played already. Pickups are nice & responsive, together with the electrics you can easily find a usable tone. But I guess what this is for is the string balance & low B, & I must say this bass does exactly what it's supposed to. Incredibly playable B string, & the tone of the bass carries across all the strings. So I'm very happy so far. For £725 this is an excellent bass & would be without the fanned frets. With the FF it's a complete winner, I love it. But fair point about the nut! It does look a bit odd.
8. Where abouts are you? Still North-East?
9.
Lucky you Nice ageing / discolouration on that maple neck
Yes, they're beautifully done. I can't quite understand how Mark makes them so that they feel instantly like you've been playing them for years.
10. Well, I'm now the proud & lucky owner of Limelight number 4 (the P-bass, serial 00104) & Limelight number 5 (the J-bass, serial 00105). I've had the P-bass for a couple of years & love it, so when I saw that Mark had number 5 in I just had to go for it! Picked it up yesterday, lovely drive down to Devon! 11. NOW SOLD, SORRY!!! Here we have a mint Mayones Jabba 5 Custom. Delano pickups & the usual Mayo 2-band EQ. Knobs are: Neck PU vol, Bridge PU vol, active bass/treble stack, tone, passive/active switch. A superb example of Mayones' finest, slightly unusual in that it has a maple neck. "Bassed" in Horsham, will pack & post or deliver fairly locally as required. Only selling as I think 4-strings are my forte!
12.
This one http://basschat.co.u...hard-case-l450/ Although I'd need 6 weeks to get the extra cash anyway.
Well, if it gets no other interest we can see in 6 weeks. Lovely Jazz, that!
13.
Gorgeous! I need to sell my Jazz, will be in touch if that happens soon.
What Jazz have you got, xilddx?
14. Two recent pics I just found. Can take more tonight.
15. I'll post more pics tonight or earlier if I can find any!
16. Just a feeler at present to see if there's any interest, I'll take, post, etc, more pics tonight if there's anyone interested. Mayones Jabba 5 Custom, Delano pups, Mayo 2-band preamp, maple neck, block inlays. Not a scratch on it & comes with a hard case. In the pic it's the one on the right! Beautiful bass but I'm not using it enough.
17. Hi - definitely interested but looking more at around £70. How does that sound? Cheers, Pete
18. I'm very tempted to offer my Limelight '58 P-bass as a straight swap, but the Mrs would kill me! She loves the Precision & thinks the Jazz just doesn't cut it, although I think it's stunning. Good luck with the sale!
19.
Recent middle size concert in Cardiff (3-5000 I guess). All I can say is that if I was the artist concerned I would have been mighty disappointed with the sound. Immense (too much) bass and kick drum, sufficient to make balcony shake, just an indistinct thump. - vocals harsh when singer at full tilt. All just too loud. Did not do the artist justice. Has made me think though - no need for anything more than a cheap bass because any subtlety will be lost if this is the foh mix that is in vogue. Band played well, plenty of energy, very tight, would have been outstanding gig with good mix. The support act - vocals & two guitars had their sound massacred. How hard is it to mix two vocals, one electric guitar and one acoustic?
No more than a cheap bass required? I'd agree absolutely. I've played hundreds of gigs, from pubs to outside festivals, using anything from a Squier Precision to a Vigier Passion - and out front there is very little, if any, difference, IMO. On stage it'll sound very different, but not out front. I actually used the Squier on a tour, just to see if it made any difference! And no, the sound guys just take your DI & make it sit somewhere "down below", with none of the consistency, subtlety or definition that we spend hours practicing. Actually you can get a better sound in the smaller gigs as you're more in control.
20.
Given the lack of signature on the back of the headstock, perhaps the dime is Mark's new 'logo'?
Very good! Hadn't thought of that! Should be "Dimelight" then, I suppose.
21.
What's with the dime?
Don't know - Mark put it there when he made it. It looks like as if there's been an extra knob there but filled in, although of course there hasn't been! People do ask, though.
