  1. Hi Whats the weight of this bass, please.
  2. Weight is 10lbs. Not particularly heavy for a bass. I have owned heavier, but these days I gig with only light weight basses of 8.5lbs or lower.
  3. Cheers. Thats really cool.
  4. Now reduced to £575 Post for £35
  5. Open to offers
  6. Rotosound steel roundwounds seem particularly harsh on the picking fingers. I've changed to nickels or D'Addario nickel. But it really is down to playing too hard. But that's where I get my sound. I'll keep trying to be more gentle. Next weekend I'm playing in two bands one after the other. That's four 45 minute sets with an hour between bands.
  7. Interesting posts. Ive been playing for many years but im now getting a very sore index finger after every gig. Good point about playing softer. I start off playing soft but after a couple of songs im really digging in again. Cant help it. Im even considering learning to use a pick on few songs. I will have to try to control myself.
  8. Yamaha BB1024X £475 I picked this up in a trade with another basschatter. It is a stunning bass. These basses are so well made and so well designed. The neck feels great at 40mm at the nut. Unfortunately for me I have another incoming bass and I’m being told that “10 basses is enough” (not including the NS EDB and the double bass, of course, shhh!). So the rule of last one in etc This is a truly beautiful instrument. The depth of the wood finish is lovely and the design incorporates clever angled thru body stringing and powerful passive pickups. 9. Nice bass Stewblack but im looking for something 8.5lbs or under.
  10. Fender Precision made in USA “Hot Rod” PJ Bass Yours for a £825 I’m going to regret this. I love this bass - it looks fantastic with its red/orange translucent body showing the wood grain. Rosewood fingerboard – I’d started to get tired of always playing maple necks. The range of sounds you can get is huge from the usual precision split coils plus the addition of the jazz bridge pick up. (which is why I bought it) And it weighs 8.5lbs. Perfect for my iffy back. Only thing is, I just can’t get on with the Precision width neck. I’m too used to Jazz necks. I have considered fitting a jazz neck to it (which I’ve done on a cheap Precision for my house bass) but it's seems crazy to do it to an £800 bass. However I’ve decided to let it go and look for something else JJ, PJ, PMM lightweight with a Jazz neck. Sandberg, Maruszczyk... It came with both bridge and pickup covers which I’ve never fitted. Also will come with the thumb rest which I took off but I’ll refit . I’m in Malvern, Worcestershire Happy to meet up half way within reason
  11. REDUCED TO £875
  12. May trade for a light weight 4 string with jazz width neck, jj, pj, jmm, mm.
  13. Offers and trades considered
  14. Hi The bass weights 8lbs. I've attempted to record the bass plugged into a TC Electronic combo with the eq set completely flat so you can hear the instrument itself using my Zoom H2 recorder The noise at the start is me switching the recorder on! Apologies for the crap playing! Thanks for the questions Bolin 5 String.MP3
  15. A rare opportunity to own a Bolin NS 5 String Bass for £875 This is a truly beautiful bass I got in a trade recently. I had good intentions of returning to 5 string playing but it isn’t happening and I am now ogling another bass on here - so here goes. The design is as a result of collaboration between Ned Steinberger and luthier John Bolin and built by Bolin in Idaho USA. This is a stunning instrument in very good condition. There is a ding on the lower bout which is difficult to see when playing. Other than that it is really pretty instrument that plays like a dream and light weight. 35in scale Graphite nut Slotted headstock The body is Alder with quilted maple top With an ebony fingerboard Fishman piezo under each string. 18V preamp Light weight With Hard case I’m in Malvern, Worcestershire Happy to meet up half way within reason
  16. Epiphone Jack Casady Signature Bass with Epiphone hard case £450 I’ve owned an Epiphone Rivoli and an Ibanez AFB200 semi-hollow bass but although I loved the look of them, I couldn’t get a sound I liked. The Epiphone Jack Casady Signature has a clever pickup with selector switch that manages to get a great sound out of this iconic looking bass. The neck is nice and comfortable and the action is low. The strings are currently old roundwounds. Unfortunately for this bass, I am ogling something else on here. Hence I’m selling a few basses to raise some loot. Although I may be tempted into a trade. Here’s an interesting quote from Jack Casady from the Epiphone website: Looking for the Holy Grail of Bass Tone "When I first started playing, I ran across a short scale semi-hollow bass," said Casady "Despite lacking some low end, I really enjoyed the semi-hollow nature of that bass and over the years tried to capture that characteristic." Casady did find a rare Les Paul bass that came close to the sound he was seeking. "In 1985, I was living in New York and happened to stop in a music store one day and saw a goldtop, full scale semi-hollow Les Paul bass," Casady recalled. "I loved the bass but found the pickup to be deficient." Casady approached Epiphone with his ideas and with help from our Epiphone luthiers, Casady fulfilled a life-long dream by designing the perfect electric bass. I'm in Malvern, Worcestershire Happy to meet half way within reason. Thanks for looking
  17. Can you tell me the weight please Thanks
  18. Interesting. Im having similar hand problems when i play my Precision bass. Im fine with my J width neck basses. Could it be the weight of your Sterling pinching a nerve in your shoulder? 9.9lbs is a bit heavy for me.
  19. It really does sound great. If you want the double bass sound without lugging a double bass around this is it.
  20. Lovely bass. Whats the weight, please?
