+1 for rush!! how about something by The Police? a three piece and good pub rock fodder. or... you could get one of those Akai Unibass pedals or similar that can double up/harmonize a guitar part along with your bass..handy for when guitarist goes for solos etc..... peace c
Hi 3V17C, Tell me more about the 'Akai Unibass', I've never come across one. I play Bass and do the Vox for a 3 piece Blues band RE: MP3 Links I use an Ashdown rig and fill the bass sound 'very slightly' using the harmonizer, not to much or it just gets foggy. There are times I'd like the sound a wee bit fuller. A rhythm guitarist in a box , now that's a thought. Any web site or uTube clips you can point me at? Thanks Oggy
 2.
you're not missing anything ! It's either for trade, and he's made it clear what he wants (USA Fender Jazz) Or it's for sale ....but there is not a price listed, in which case one needs to be put on, or the "for sale" bit needs to be removed. Makes no odds to me as I haven't got a US Jazz, or any money, but would love this baby sooooo much, I could pretend to be Ronny Lane and play Itchycoo Park.
Hello 'oldslapper', - no disrespect it's your screen name! To get rid of any confusion I've caused I've done an edit on the original post and taken the word 'Sell' from the Topic Title. I’ve never had the word ‘Sale’ either in the Topic Title or the post, I hope removing the word ‘Sell’ has cleared this up. I'm really sorry for causing this flurry of concern and confusion - It's a TRADE I'm after. Oggy
 3.
But what does the bass cost? I can´t find the actual money asked for this bass anywhere, what am I missing?
Hello blackparkas, I've not put a price on it, only how much it cost me. I have said I would like to trade for a Jazz though. I never thought that trying for a trade could be so complicated, it's probably 'all my fault', it usually is - just ask my missus . Oggy
 4. “A thing of beauty”. After trying a ‘few’ last weekend I can’t get my head around why you would want to part with it her. I’m lusting after one at the moment, but who would trade a “Beast” for a “Beauty”. Good luck with the sale, I’m surprised is hasn’t happened already. Oggy
 5.
well... I've seen the newer 09 onward jazzes go for £700 ish on here as 'barely used' but i bet most boxshifters on the interweb would do a new one for £830 in plain finishes and £900 ish for bursts. I work at a music shop and we have the jazzes from £830 ish, dependant on finish. A lot of places seem intent on shagging out fenders at heavy discounts at the minute. I knew i should have ordered my les paul bass before they were discontinued... Let me think on it, or, pm me with a price. I was on the hunt for a thundrrbird, but, that can wait.
Hi Andy, I pretty new at this so please excuse me if I’m not doing it quite right . It’s been my experience that buying from ‘box shifters’ doesn’t always work out that well, I like the old fashion personal touch along with doing the ‘try before buy’. My thoughts are that I’m more likely to get a decent trade from a fellow bass player than an internet site or a trade in at one of the big music shops. Bear with me – I learning. I have to say though that I’m really enjoying this site, It’s amazing how much knowledge the members have and are willing to share . Good luck with the Thunderbird quest, if your heart is set on one - go for it - but don't forget to look after your two girls. Oggy
 6.
deffo interested. How much as a straight sale, my two jazzes are staying put...
Hi Andy, Before I answer your question, and please don't take this the wrong way , how much do you think I'd have to pay for a new one? I only ask because the 09 ones I've been looking at (and trying) in the London area are +/- £900. I have a horrible feeling you're not going to offer me that though, dispite the 'beast' being pristine and all but unavailable now. I can fully understand you not wanting to part with two girls . Thanks for asking. Oggy
 7.
how can i persuade you to send to Brighton, UK ? Welcome to Basschat.
HI flippyflop, Nice to hear from you and thanks for your interest . You could offer to pay for the courier service and insurance! Have to warn you though - I've just put the Bass back in its case and stuck it on the bathroom scales, it comes in at 12,1 Kg's, I'd estimate the dimensions would be (after wrapping in some heavy duty cardboard) L 124 cm x W 42 cm x D 12 cm. The case, is as mentioned, is hand built like the preverbal brick doda, so unless it gets run over by a tank it'll be snug as a bug. Make a few phone calls to your local friendly courier service and see how you feel about it . Thanks again for getting back to me. Quite an interesting history with the Stadium, I didn't know any of it. Really nice that the more experienced members can keep an eye out and fill us in on this stuff - Regards Oggy Andy Hold The Presses - Disregard the above - My Missus has just had a bright idea, I hate it when she comes up with stuff like this. I could get on a train in Borehamwood straight into St Pancras, change, then get the train to Brighton! That way you would get the Bass, I could pick up the cash and best of all - you could buy me a pint and I get to use my Senior Citizens Rail Concession Card . Have to be on a Saturday tough - let me know.
 8. Item withdrawn <_< Back under the bed for this bad boy. I need to compile a 'CLEAR  ' advert. Back for SALE soon. Oggy :)
 9.
my apologies if this has been put up before you want the middle column. each has a description/tempo & key listings and last a good 3 or 4 minutes each. most of the guitar seems to have blues chord progressions whatever the style but still good to jam along with http://www.freejamtracks.com/
Hi 'dub_junkie', I'm a newbie on the site and just found your link to the Blues backing tracks for Bass players. Great, beats the hell out of competing with the bass on a CD while putting in some practice at home and allows me to try new stuff against guitar and drums instead of a 'metronome' (tapping my foot I mean) . Thanks for that PS. Just burn them onto a CD then play along using TASCAM CD-BT, also allows me to change the key +/- 6 semitones either way from the original recording key - handy.
 10. Thank you all for the comments and info / history on this bass , I only bought it because it sounded great and the guys at the Bass Centre just let me get on with trying it through several amp's - no pressure applied. Nice to know that you guys are happy with the price and the bass. I'll give it week before sticking it on ebay, I just hope it goes to a home where it'll get taken out and giged. Thanks again all...........
 11.
Lovely bass - it may be worth mentioning that these were designed by Michael Tobias and made under licence. IIRC they had a lightweight body (possibly basswood), a 1-pce maple neck and a nice wenge fingerboard. Electronics were Bart single coils, with volume, pan and stacked bass/treble cut/boost, with a 3-position mid switch common to most Tobias-designed basses. The Hipshot bridge is a nice touch, too. They originally came in black and pilsner (think the colour of lager) - black was much nicer. Not dissimilar to a cheaper version of the modern MTD. In any case, a superb bass with tons of growl for very silly money. Have a bump on me!
I just knew I was on a winner when I joined this site . I think it’s really great that members, like yourself, will lend a hand to us newbies . I’m not sure about this BUMP thing though; what’s that all about? The last time someone gave me a BUMP I lost my no claims . Thanks very much for your input, I really do appreciate it. God knows what I’m going to do when I advertise the Cort C4P - it’s got pizza in the bridge and I’m dammed if I know if it’s got anchovies on it .
 12. SOLD SOLD SOLD SOLD I bought this Bass three years ago from the Bass Centre. I was looking for an active Bass that would give me a whole pallet of sounds and tones to chose from - I found it! I’ve only ever used it at home, it never even got to a rehearsal, it’s in immaculate condition and plays really well. I also have a Cort C4P that I favor but even that has got to go “why? ” I hear you ask. Well I’ve finally decided that I’m going down the Fender route and have my eye on a Fender Jazz - Medium  , you can guess the rest - thats right, I’ve got to get the money together. I’ll see how / if this sale happens here first, if it’s a no go I’ll give it a go on the dreaded ‘ebay  ’. So I have the Bass Centre ‘Stadium’ (Bartolini p/u's, 3 position p/u selection switch, gain, tone and 2 x volume. virtually no fret ware and 'very very' minor paint blemishes) up for sale, together with a flight case thats built like a brick one. I’m asking for £250, includes the comfort strap and case. The case - I doubt you could buy a case like it now, 'hand built' by 5-Star Cases Ltd, Sutton Ely, Cambridge. EDIT: 16/01/2010 - Seeing as I've had loads of interest in this Bass, and lots of very positive comments from those that know these things, but no offers; how about a Swap for a Fender Precision Lyte? I'm sure one or two of you chaps have one lurking in a dark corner. I'd be happy to do a direct swap for a 'good nik' one. Please feel free to send a PM with some pic's Have a look at the images below, if you would like to ask me any questions you can fire me an email: MY EMAIL I’ll try my best to answer any queries, I’m not sure how to answer on Basschat but I’ll also give that a go. I would much prefer to have the Bass picked up from me (Borehamwood - Hertfordshire) or arrange a meet, I wouldn’t be interested in sending it overseas or far flung places - yes I’m a lazy SOB. I’d hope that any prospective buyer would want to get their hand on, and see the Bass before parting with any cash, I know I would, your welcome to come on down . Thanks for looking.....................
 13. Thanks for your input Chaps, appreciated . I'll email Malcom and see where it goes. While I'm on - Has anyone out there tried / played a 'Medium Scale J/B'? Just thought I'd ask the question....... I/m not sure how this Bump thing works but "Bump Bump Bump" anyway.
 14. I’ve spotted a Medium Scale JB that I’m interested in buying on the following web site [topic="0"]http://www.guitaremporium.co.uk/[/topic] , I couldn’t find a physical address for them on the site – that worries me a tad as I would have liked to do the touchy feely thing before making a purchase. Question for all you Basschat pro’s. Has anyone out there used this site to buy anything and did it go well? I’d really appreciate a bit of feedback before I do something stupid and part with the ‘hard earned’.

 17. If it all goes pear shaped PLEASE contact me. I'm not a million miles away from you (Borehamwood) and have the cash. Anyone else reading this who has a Lyte for sale - PLEASE contact me, I'm desperate - reason: I play a Cort C4P, and ain't the biggest Bass Player on the block. I need a bass that's more in proportion with my slight, vertically challenged frame. Thanks Guys........
