  1. Right then, who bought it? 🀣
  2. Likewise! Thanks for letting me touch your Dingwall. Hopefully see you gigging around here soon πŸ™Œ
  3. Yeah it's quite a departure from classic p-basses. I'm a huge fan of slim necks and I love active but I've been playing 5 string for so long now I'm gonna need some adjustment. I've seen a great deal on a Yamaha BB734a that tick a lot of boxes even if it's nowhere near as pretty as the Schecter or have the slim profile but it's a start. At least I can throw the Yamaha around without worrying too much, I'd be to nervous about dinging the Schecter.
  4. Yeah I think the one thing that makes me a little uneasy is how drastically the price would drop if I did decide I didn't enjoy it and sold it on compared to some other brands. I could get a 2nd hand USA/MIJ p-bass for the same price and sell it on without loosing a penny. That price puts it inline with some heavy hitters. That being said I doubt I'd want to sell it on if it plays as good as it looks.
  5. I built my bass when I was 16 with out much consideration for future me. It was inspired (heavily) by the Warwick thumb and is made from wenge, bubinga and ebony fretboard. It's sooooo heavy it's ridiculous. Getting a RightOn bass strap was a came changer for it. I can play longer than 20 mins without shooting pain in my neck πŸ™Œ
  6. If a company misleads/lies to customers they should be called out. I was whizzed off when I updated my graphics card in my pc to a gtx970. It was supposed to have 4gb of ram, in reality it had 3.5gb. Sure most people wouldn't notice but for those that did it was a pretty bitter taste. They got sued and had to reimburse customers accordingly.
  7. That review is the only one I've come across which seems crazy, funny because theres also a review of the Sire P5 which caught my attention too. Instantly subscribed to the channel! I had a little chat with Cici in the comments and seems like a really solid bass. The neck loves beautiful! Just wanted to see if anyone else had any additional views on it, perhaps has had it for a while etc.
  8. Anyone got one of the Schecter p-4 exotic basses or have any experience? This thing looks like it's my dream p-bass in terms of both aesthetics and sound from what little I've found on it. Just wondering if anyone can add any more light? No where stocks it locally but can order in so I could always buy it and return it if I don't like it but on paper everything looks awesome.
  9. I built a bass when I was 16 with my dad and it was my only bass for about 12 years until I bought myself a Warwick Corvette just before lockdown.
  10. Awesome little transparent bass compressor. Selling because I picked up a GT-1000core, I don't like it's compressors as much but they're good enough that I can't justify owning this too! Won't bother posting the spec here as most will be familiar with it already but check here for specs - https://www.andertons.co.uk/bass-dept/bass-guitar-pedals/mxr-m87-bass-compressor-pedal Can post at buyers cost or collection is fine if you're local. Happy to discuss offers.
  11. It's absolutely fantastic, it's got a very smooth sound but has plenty of growl. The overdrive channel is really crisp too. I'm pretty gutted to let it go but forcing myself to be really brutal on what I keep. Best of luck with the Legacy, they're great little heads although having come from a 700rb I wanted something a bit different. Never owned a tube amp before but very impressed.
  12. Decided I love it too much to sell πŸ˜‚ Selling a pristine GK Fusion S 800 bass head. Super light and portable tube amp, probably the most beautiful looking amp I've ever seen. In the market for a P/PJ style bass, especially Yamaha BB series for potential trades/part trades. According to GK: The Fusion S Series Heads are GK’s brand new Class D Model heads with a tube preamp. The rich warmth of tubes combined with the quick, punchy power section that GK bass amps are known for is an experience like no other. These high powered heads incorporate three 12ax7 tubes in the preamp, including one dedicated to the overdrive channel, making it GK’s first ever tube driven overdrive channel. Illuminated knobs add an extra level of sophistication and design by not only making it easier to dial in your tone on stage and but adding a beautiful stage presence as well. Each illuminated knob is also push activated, with additional voicing filters and tonal characteristics built in. Tube Preamp with (3) 12ax7s Four band active EQ Foot Switchable Tube Overdrive with Tone Control (Footswitch Included) Illuminated Knobs with Push Activation "Bump", "Contour", and "Presence" Push Button Voicing Filters Balanced XLR Output with Pre and Post EQ Unbalanced ¼” Send and Return Aux Input and Headphones Output Twist Lock Speaker Outputs 2, 2.7, 4 and 8ohm Load Capacity 11.5” Width x 11” Depth x 2 3/8” Only selling because I've decided to take the plunge into the ultra portable realm of a peddleboard mounted preamp and power amp. If I had the money to justify keeping both I would, it's one of the best sounding amps I've ever tried, I like it even more than my GK 700RB which is saying a lot! Theres one tiny scratch on top (see pictures) but other than that it's in practictically perfect condition. Happy to organise postage at the buyers expense, if it's fairly local I could probably deliver or meet halfway. Open to offers! (I thought this was dust but looks like a very subtle scratch) I I do have the original manual and box however I used some of the original foam packaging to add extra protection in the case.
  13. My slightly underwhelming pedalboard 🀣 tbh I don't like the big muff and my GK Fusion S overdrive channel is sufficient for my needs. I'm also not really bothered about the MXR compressor, thinking of a Darkglass SS or Hyper Luminal which is a little less transparent perhaps. Not a clue what to replace the big muff with!
  14. My Corvette I got just before lockdown/covid, always wanted a Warwick after playing a Thumb in my local music shop. My first ever bass was a Tanglewood Corvette copy so it's nice to go full circle and have the real thing! I feel like I'm going to regret finding this thread 😬 Think I may need to start saving for a Thumb next.
  15. Alpher do a load of this too, absolutely incredible although I'm personally more keen on the more minimalist builds. (If minimalist is really a suitable term 🀣) https://alpher.co.uk/bass-gallery/
  16. Ps nice work on the stingray, looking great!
  17. @Fishmaninteresting! I'm going for a bit of a "none more black" vibe the so less of that natural redness of the mahogany peeping through the better! Thankfully (as far as colouring goes) it's the palest mahogany I've ever seen, probably due to the extremely reasonable price I got the kit for so hopefully it should take the colour reasonably well 🀣
  18. Nice! I was looking at these earlier but good to hear confirmation from someone who's used them. Tbh I might just commit and order it direct from crimson but really appreciate the offer!
  19. Sadly all glossy finishes unfortunately 😭
  20. Firstly sorry for posting a guitar 😬 tl;dr - I want to give this maghogany body a matt black stain finish, any recommendations for black stains? Context I'm currently working on finishing up a budget Tele kit I got online, couldn't justify the time or money building from scratch unless it was a new bass. Just finished routing patching up the cavities for a dual humbucker setup and getting everything drilled out. For the finish I was originally going to go for a black body and ebony veneer on the headstock. Or potentially some really figured burly veneer I found for the headstock and layering it up to make a pickguard along these lines: I need to decide on a stain to use to get the body black, I've seen a few mentions of using Fiebing leather dye but very few pictures of the final finished thing. I know stewmac have some good stains but the shipping costs and times are going to be more hefty than I'd like! Does anyone have any advice on what to go for? Cheers!
  21. I wish I could afford to buy one but definitely going to start collecting parts to build one. They look and sound great!
  22. This looks ace! Was thinking of trying to build something similar for fun, traveling and encouraging the offspring to play. My main concern was the hardware but all looks fairly standard dimension wise. What sort of strings does it take?
  23. I love my tiny GK Fusion s and Barefaced two10 rig but I have to say I felt very self conscious stood across from the guitarist with his ridiculously oversized Mesa dual rectifier rig and floor covered in pedals. 🀣
