@admiralchew They do some exellent gear. The OxEAE Fuzz is a beast, it's surprisingly versatile in what it can do but everything it does is pretty gnarly. I think my favourite pedal is still the Halberd, I didn't expect to be blown away but I think it's my second favourite pedal after the Capo.

Mini board with band essentials for an upcoming video/recording session. I wanted to keep it small n simple, it’s pretty EAE heavy 😂 Im trying to weigh up between keeping the OxEAE Fuzz and Dagger or ditching one for the Alma comp.

Yeah I think you’re absolutely right. We have someone programming the lighting, we just need to give them some notes where we want specific stuff. I’ve learned a lot about after effects this week 😂
-
Yeah!!!! That’s excellent! Think once I get a bit further with the underlying shapes I’ll start taking some inspiration from that. Love all the animated compression artefact effects there.

It’s been a learning process picking up After Effects for the first time properly in about 10 years 😂
-
Well started playing with some basic shapes and adding waves and distortion with a little chromatic aberration. For the intro something like this with silhouettes initially then lighting kicking in when we all come in: Luminaire.mov then get progressively more chaotic until the breakdown: Luminaire Bridge.mp4 It’s really hard to force yourself into remembering it’s just a backdrop and not an actual music video, it’s more just an extension of the lighting. Think it’ll look good once it’s done as long as we can keep in time 😂

MOD Device (Dwarf/Duo/Duo X) owners' club - Tips, Ideas & Patches
MrDinsdale replied to SamIAm's topic in Effects
Amazing work dude!!! 🙌🙌🙌 -
First practice with the BB734. When I got it out everyone looked concerned that I’d replaced the Schecter J4 but as soon as I stated playing and they all agreed it was a keeper. They’re a tough crowd to win other with bass acquisitions so that’s a pretty big win.

I think the CPU would reduce the need for Portals which would help, I’d be curious how much of the latency comes from the software vs hardware for sure! Keep us posted!!! -

The big issue with adding send and returns is that latency very rapidly becomes an issue. Using the 2nd channel as an FX loop doubles the latency, adding portal for reduced CPU practically doubles again to the point it’s pretty noticeable. Any more and I’d say it would be unusable, even given my fairly high tolerance for latency. I think my GT1000 with both fx loops used still comes in at around 4-6ms, the Dwarf with a single fx loop and portals was hitting around 30+ I think. -

It’s an excellent unit, really need to find more time for a play. Think I’m gonna have to rearrange some pedals to make a slimmed down gig board without all the extra toys. Think I’ll use it as an opportunity to set up the Dwarf with some of the drives and stuff that don’t make the cut to experiment with. Maybe try some more modelling. It’s a great product, just a shame they don’t have more funding to take it to the next level. -
In my head it wound be more like this sort of thing: (I forgot to add it to the post) Although I think it’s probably going to end up being some kind of solid colours, possibly with some abstract blended footage for texture due to time constraints. Lots of flickering and distortion as the some goes on. If we had another week or two I think it’d be way more manageable and could’ve done something more ambitious. Sadly no green screen option!

Haha how have I never seen this video 👌

So we've got a great opportunity to get some pro quality video footage, and we need to knock together a video to put on for a large video wall behind the stage for each of the 3 songs. Does anyone have any good examples of music videos featuring similar kinds of backdrops, need some inspiration! Our music is noisy alt rock but I guess genre doesn’t particularly matter. We don’t have long to create them so can’t be too ambitious. Probably something along the lines of this setup:

GT-1000 Core - How to rename CTR displays for 'Div Channel Selector'
MrDinsdale replied to SimBass's topic in Effects
Set the down footswitch to control Octave on/off but use an assign to change div2 channel. It’s a little silly but results in a more intuitive message. It’s annoying you can’t manually set the label. -
It’s a standard P neck width to my knowledge. Definitely a pretty wide angle lens there, certainly warped.

Have you heard back from BassDirect? -
For more info look up EMG BTC and there should be a manual available 🙌
-
@Jamison I might be misunderstanding but the 2 dip switches (see picture) will adjust the treble response. You can have it as more of a mids control or a treble/presence control depending on which is selected.
-
Have you tried tweaking the treble frequency? There are two dip switches that let you tweak how it behaves that might give you a little extra mileage. Personally as great as the EMGs look with the brushed metal finish I prefer the sound of Dimarzio model p with the Stellartone. My biggest discovery was that I just don’t think the P bass is right for me. I much prefer the sound of PJ or Jazz. Really tempted to pop an MM style Turner multicoil in the bridge, or a Dimarzio relentless PJ.

MOD Device (Dwarf/Duo/Duo X) owners' club - Tips, Ideas & Patches
MrDinsdale replied to SamIAm's topic in Effects
@SamIAm that looks like a fun project! Yeah even if you couldn’t add/remove on the device but you could traverse all the plugins in the chain sequentially like on the Boss to tweak it’d be a great improvement. Perhaps if the new swap functionality is implemented you’d be able to switch compatible effects. All feels like a really long way off achieving something as complex as that give how thinly stretched they are. -

MrDinsdale replied to SamIAm's topic in Effects
The Boss GT1000core is a great example of being able to manage relatively complex signal chains. It’s a lot more linear than the MOD UI but still supports 3 parallel signal blocks/chains. I think something similar could work well for MOD although I do think it’d need to be somewhat restricted to be more linear. The CV stuff would be tricky. -
Your best (and worst!) bass gear purchases of 2023?
MrDinsdale replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
Best of 2023: Jad Freer Capo - Just an incredible versatile preamp. EAE Halberd - Built for guitar but works great on bass, fairly transparent but you can really push it hard into think chewy fuzz territory. Handbox WB100 - Didn’t think anything would dethrone the 40kg VBA400 but this did a great job and only weighs about 15kg. Yamaha BB734 - Traded for it with the intention of modding it with Wal style pickups and onboard preamp but absolutely love the sound so it’s staying as is! Notable mentions: EAE Dagger v2 - Great little distortion but didn’t stand out as much as the Halberd to my surprise. Schecter J4 - Great bass, fun to play and sounded great, the BB734 is just a little better for the sounds I’m after. MOD Dwarf - Not the easiest to get to grips with but so interesting and capable of so much. No bad purchases, the Lusithand GnP wasn’t for me but it’s a great pedal.
