Stupidly Easy Tunes Which Are An Absolute Pleasure To Play
thunderbird13 replied to Hot Tub's topic in General Discussion
The intro to Fight Fire with Fire by Metallica - not as hard as it sounds and always seems to get a "whats that" response from guitarists ( which is as close to a compliment your going to get from them ) -
First gig with a new band on Saturday night and not really a great expereince - only 4 people turned up, the sound engineer cut the sound 3 times ( ! ) and it was bloody cold as well. Spent half the gig staring at Muse videos being played on the screen behind the bar. Still saves us £45 for a rehearsal and I had a curry afterwards !
-
yeah man good luck - I'm playing my first gig in 11 years tomorrow night as well so I feel for you but we can only fit in 4 songs into a half hour set - the joys of playing space rock !!!
-
I pull stage shapes and most of the time I dont know I'm doing it - only noticed when the drummer pointed it out last rehersal
-
bugger ! maybe I've missed a bargain !!!
-
Both examples I am thinking about are advertised in Gumtree so I suppose you would go round the sellers house and try it out, but I dont understand why someone would advertise a new boxed Fender Jaguar for 100 quid less than retail price . Unless its been aquired dishonesty or there is a grey market of bankrupt stock finding its way into private hands . Its more the moral thing I'm worried about since I dont really want to buy stolen goods

Twice this week when I've been browsing gumtree I've seen 2 differnt basses, sold by 2 different private sellers both advertised as brand new and both with their original cardboard boxes. What I cant understand is why would anyone buy a new bass and then sell it privately - surely if it wasnt right you could return it back to the shop for a refund. My cynical nature assumes that it must be dodgy and therefore to avoid - am I right or an I missing out on pototential bargains ?

What impresses you more? Fingering or Picking
Kinda like ... "I'm an F1 driver, me. My car's got four wheels, you know..."
Now if it had 5 wheels it would be some much more impressive OT I think that some of the hositility to pick playing is some bassists will do anything not to look like second rate guitarists -
Thanks to Ben at WD Music - super customer service

Thats good - just remember to make sure it fits before you take the packaging off -
OT I was in a band with a guitarist who was my best friend. His cousin was on drums and he was one of the biggest a**holes I've ever met - he was a drummer in an Oi band and boy he though he was something special. I just couldnt get on with the guy and it got to the stage where I was turn up late to gigs and rehearsal just to make sure that I wasnt alone with him. I tried leaving the band twice but each time my guitarist mate said that if i did the band would split so I was in this quandry of either putting up with this dick or leaving and losing a friend. In the end I split but whenever I meet my guitarist friend there's still a bit of anomosity there - even though it was 10 years ago
It's essentially the Daily Mail for anglers. I cancelled my subs after a while. A lot of the readership are pretty Daily Mail too, lots of anti-Eastern European crap going on. I've given up on the periodical stuff. I only read Chris Yates and Richard Walker these days.
Surely that should read anti- Eastern European carping Its Ok I know where my coat is

Not entirely sure if its Kent or not but I'm in Bromley which is near enough !
-
sounds like the guitarist was expecting you to go to this other band so that he would look bad whenver he jumped ship
-
another Tokai - I might be interested but the hideousness of the carpet is putting me off http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Controlling volume levels on multi effects pedal
thunderbird13 replied to thunderbird13's topic in Effects
bump - anyone help ?? -
Even I recognised that as a MM and nothing bores me like Fenders
-
Rick wakeman as going on in Classic Rock about how they should'nt be touring without Jon Anderson. Think I'll pass on it
-
Chaps - I'm using a Zoom B2 1u and I am linking a compressor and a wahwah effect together which works fine for the verse but I want to use the tube screamer effect with the foot pedal for a solo but as soon as I use it the volume gets really loud. I've tried playing with all the gain ouputs and also with the ZFM ( ?) mix dial but so far cant get a balanced output - anyone else got a way around this ??? I'm prob doing something really stupid as its my first pedal
Life Stinks - Pere Ubu
Great song - by coinceidence I was listening to that on the way into work this morning I tried learning Motorhead again yesterday as our guitarist can play it better than me
-
I have the same problem I just cant seem to get over a certain speed ( about 160 BPM ) and I cant use a pick because I my hands get sweaty that they just slip out of my hand . The solution - I play stoner rock nothing above 100 BPM
