2. Where in Scotalnd are you? There is a guitar store in Kirkcaldy HSK Music that stocks G&L. I'm sure there is a guy that works there, on here. Give them a call HSK Music
3. I've had exaclty the same experience with MIJFenders, enquired about a 75RI, he told me he would get a price for me and phone me back..... i'm still waiting.
4. I have put a Gotoh on my VMJ perfect fit, no shimming. Only slight complaint is why Gotoh insist on Black Chrome rather than the same black as most other parts manufacturers use, then all my hardwase would match.
5. It may be worth while doing a test pice first. I might be completely wrong but glow in the dark paint might not glow in the dark once laquered?
6.
You're absolutely certain you're using the same gauges on both? If the basses are the same scale length (should be), set up correctly and in tune they should be under the same tension in order to provide the same fundamental frequency (at least approximately). That said, the '62 is likely to produce less fundamental than the deluxe and so have smaller string excursion, which might be perceived as having less 'slack', and so higher tension. I'm neglecting any higher order effects here, but I would be surprised if these could make a significant difference to the actual tension (equally, real world physics are not always intuitive, so who knows?).
Yeah they both have the same guage strings. Both sound as i would want them to sound, so you may be right about my perceptions being off. I have been thinking about getting rid of the special so i may be creating flaws in my mind to convince me.
7. Hey, I have two P Basses. A MIJ 62 RI and a MIM Deluxe Special. Both necks are set perfect for me and both stung with D'Addario xl165 45-105. Both Maple/Rosewood Necks. Is there any reason why I get far more E string tension on the 62 rather than the special?
8. The tech guy at Kenny's Music in Dundee is supposed to be very good. He is a freelancer and is only at Kenny's maybe twice a week. 10 years ago he did a Strat for my brother, it is a good as factory if not better.
9. I have been contemplating a parts bass for a month or two now. Now i know i could get some seriously cheap parts off ebay, but that seems pointless. Looking at companies like WD/warmoth it will be quite expensive to buy all of the parts. Now i am assuming that parts basses have next to no resale value, am i wiser to buy a MIM and mod it. Any opinions welcome.
10. Taking straight lines i have measures the screw holes just as a double check. See if yours is the same. Measurements are in mm side of pickup to top edge of guard is aroung 16mm (between pickup and bridge)
11. First up if this is in the wrong place.. sorry, i'm sure someone will move it. After a jam with a couple of friends, i notice something. I was the only person to bring a tuner, so shared it out. My bass sounded sweet , but the two guitards were a mile off . Now my tuner is quite a ropey £20 boss. Is this down to a crappy tuner or something else. What is/are the best/most accurate tuners to get? Cheers in Advance
12. If you can, get either vintage modified or classic vibe series. They are far from beginner basses for beginner bass money. I have a vintage modified jazz and absolutely love it.
13. Can you show a pic of the pickguard. I have a 62 RI with a tort guard that I was thinking about changing to a black one. If they look similar we may be able to do a little trade.
14. I'm looking for a small practice amp (no bigger than 30w). I want one for ease of portability I often jam with freinds who play acoustics so my bigger fender amp is a little overkill. Any opinions are welcomed.
15. I have recently imported a bass from japan. The bass cost £500 VAT £75 Import Tax £15 Parcelfarce handling £20
16. Is this the same trib that was on gumtree a couple of months ago?
17. Fender - THE Bass guitars Laklands + Sadowskys - Fender Ripoffs Stingrays & Sterlings - Cool as f*%k. Ricks - Clumsy looking Singlecuts - Plain Ugly

19. Hey all, I've been floating around here for a few months. I've been messing around with 6 strings for years. But decided to take up a proper instrument at the end of last year. I had an old squier p hanging around for years so picked that up and started noodling and realised i love the bass. I then through a stroke of luck got a P bass special for very little money, which is a sweet bass so i gave the squier to a friends son. I also picked up a VM Jazz thru gumtree for a steal, man that bass sounds good. I bought a Fender Rumble 60 as my amp, nowt special but you have to love the flashy lights. Yesterday took delivery of a belter of a MIM 70's RI Jazz from a fellow bc'er. All i need now is a decent P and i'll be set. I'm into all sorts of music, but i am a big REM fan, mike mills rocks. Thats enough for now. I look forward to years of asking you all many dumb ass questions, and if i can help any of you guys just ask. Boab
20.
That looks sweet, I love the matching head stock. What makes it deluxe? Is it active?
Ignore the questions, just notice the forth pic...DOH!

22. Just bought a sweet MIM 70's Jazz from Linus27. Bass is exactly as he described it. A bomb could have went off in the delivery van, it wouldn't of damaged the bass it was packed so securely. If i had a question it was usually answered within a few hours. My first purchase thru basschat, and it was perfect. Cheers Linus27
23. I always thought these looked pretty damn cool.
