1. I know never to buy from RnB as they are a bunch of tubes who charge rediculous prices. But didn't know if their tech was any good. I have put the bass into rainbow music in dundee, I heard a lot of good things about their tech. I think my frets are needing at best levelled. Cheers for the offers lads, it can't be true what they say about aberdonians. I'll let everyone know how the bass is when i get it back.
2. The reason I ask is, I was contemplating a parts bass but couldn’t decide on a p or a j. So I was thinking about making a p that could become a j or vice versa. Have a large cavity routed under the pg, that could take both jazz and split p pickups. Have a pg for both configurations made. Then when I want to change it, it should be a ten minute job. Possibly use two split p pups to use all three knobs on both configurations. What are your thoughts on this, any glaring problems that I am missing?
3. ok, bad example. Lets say another set of passives.
4. I am having a sunday morning think, never a good thing after a saturday night on the sauce. Lets say i have a jazz bass. Would it be possible to set it up with qp's that are connected with quick connectors. So that i could swap out for a set of EMG's in minutes. Is there any reason why this wouldn't work?
5. Who is available in Grampian/Tayside for good setups and/or repairs. I know of Rainbow and Kenny's in Dundee, and R'n B' in Aberdeen. Who would you guys recommend.
6. I am the same, a little too alvin stardust for me.
7.
Thanks for the link! Is £350 around the normal 2nd hand price for these? The bass seems pretty much perfect in the pics. The guy said it had hardly been touched he bought it for his girlfriend to learn on and she lost interest when it didn't play itself after 2 weeks he was going to keep it as back up but now needs the cash to blow on a Stingray!
I have seen them for £500+ in the shops/online. £350 sounds good. FYI, I got my guard made by a company called jeannie pickguards in the US. So they can make you a guard, without you having to send them your guard, as they made a templete from mine.
8. I have a MIM P Special Active. I think it is sweet, plenty of versatility, great neck and the fit and finish is excellent. Beware though, my one had lots of polish residue in the pup and control cavity that over time may get into and ruin your pots. All in all i would recommend this bass.
9. Hey all, I've decided to let this guitar go as i haven't picked it up in months, so i obviously don't need it. It is in superb condition, bar a small make on the back that i can't polish out, i think it is on the paint, not in the paint. No chips or dings that i am aware of. Looking for £250 posted ONO.
10. I have always been curious about doing this. One day i probably will. Looks a real good job, did you do it yourself? Not a huge relic'd fan, but i bet that thing has nuts.
11. Lets make a rule, NO OTHER TORT SUGGESTIONS.
12. I am awaiting delivery on my new MIJ P Bass 62 in Vintage White/Rosewwod with a tort pickguard. I am not a big tort fan, so i would like some opinions on what other colours of scratchers would suit vintage white. PS. Black is a given
13. So i have been looking around and found a company called ishibashi which is a japanese company that posts worldwide. I have also heard that japanese fenders are close to if not better than american fenders quality, is this true? Has anyone ordered from ishibashi, any issues, did you get stung by customs for vat? Any other info would be gratefully recieved.
14. I have used a company called Jeannie Pickguards in the US before. They ask you to send your pg so they can make an identical copy, they also have a large range of materials available. All in all took about three weeks from me sending my guard away to getting it back, to me well worth the time and cost (around £35 inc postage)
15. The problem i have is finding one to have a look at and have a wee blast on to see if I like them. Can you post when you get more in stock, or if you know when you're getting more. Cheers
16. Hey all, I have a serious want for a L2000 Tribute. But i can't find any shop that stocks G&L in Scotland. Does anyone know where i can find one of these elusive basses to play and then if as good as everyone says buy.
