It's great when you find 'your' strings.  Personally for me it's Dunlop super bright nickels 45-105.  Quite bright at first but they settle quickly, and then stay the same for ages.  They're also lower tension than other 45-105's out there that I've tried, which was something I'd been looking for for a long time.

Haven't done any proper recording for a while, but when I did I would usually put a fresh set on about a week before, and make sure to play a bit every night on them so they lose the initial over the top zing..

I used to use Dunlop Super Brights SS 45-105 for years but then I rediscovered my old faves, LaBella SS 45-105. The Dunlops are amazing, but the LaBella strings are the perfect feel, tension and zing for me.

We are at that crossroads at the moment - there is disagreement in the band as to whether or not to bother making CDs any more.  I could take it or leave it, one is really keen to make CDs, one is dead set against it and the other two's opinions are undefined at this time.

It looks like we'll do a minimum run of CDs (and accept that the unit cost of them makes it minimally profitable at the unit cost level) just so that they exist.  We save costs by doing all our own artwork (which means it won't suck, but it won't be amazing either).

The album is already up digitally - not that anyone cares - just another voice whispering into the cacophony of music out there.  It just feels so grubby and makes my skin crawl to go all HEY, YOU SHOULD LISTEN TO OUR MUSIC BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME, so it's hardly going to light up the charts, is it?

If you don’t shout out loud about your music, who will? People may be very happy that you did ☺️

  3. I really like this idea. It would make me look at Fender again, if I ever required/wanted one. I do like that more companies are doing this. I just spec’d up a P bass for fun, and it came in at just over £300 more than a USA P Ultra I bought (and sold) in 2020. My only wish would be that they would add the option of a 21 or 24 fret neck. Still, I like this a lot ☺️
