Good luck Geoff! I used to get lessons with Geoff when he lived in Leeds and you couldn't wish to meet a nicer guy. He is a great teacher and a fantastic player on both the electric and double bass. Kev

Hi guys, I'm really interested in getting myself a JV Jazz bass because I love jazz basses and I've heard about how great these basses are to play. I think that alot of sellers set their prices way too way high based upon reputation, condition and how rare these instruments are becoming, up to £1200 if you want one from our German ebay friend or generally between £600 and £950 from private sellers on ebay and on here. However I have been looking around in the internet I and I cant seem to find much evidence of buyers ever paying much more than around £550 and most basses not selling because of the seller wanting too much. Am I missing something?? I guess the real question is, is the bass really worth it once you have played it. Im going to try a JV jazz tomorrow. It is a 1983 in real nice condition and I have managed to knock the seller down to £750, however I cant help feeling i still might be getting ripped off. Am I really be able to sell this bass on without losing alot of £££ or will it even go up in value? What do you guys think? Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks Kev

Hopefully I will be there, as long as I dont have a gig! Kev -
Thanks for your effort Out To Play Jazz, theyre lovely basses but sadly not the one I meant. Bass Bod, you're right mate he did use it in Germany and i knew I had seen it on that gig too but he used afew different basses on that gig from the videos. Luckily I have managed to find the bass in Sting's hand on Roxanne . Thanks for the help and if that is true about the airport scanner then it is such a shame. I shook Stings hand at the start of this years Great North Run, I was lost for words so I missed my chance to ask him . Heres the bass in all of its glory! I got this tuner with my 1962 Reissue precision and they are great. Sadly I didn't get on with the precision neck width and have sold the neck and original tuners and now have this left spare. The condition is as new and it comes with the original box, instructions and fittings. Here is the info from an online dealer and a stock picture too Hipshot BT3 Bass Xtender Key Drop tune your Pre-CBS Fender and reissue models with reverse winding Kluson machines. With just a flick of the thumb lever you can instantly expand the range of your instrument. Tunable to any note from E to low C. I didn't see any point in uploading one of mine as it is as new but if you want pictures I will upload them at request. Im looking for £30 O.N.O. and I will cover the cost of postage. Thanks Kev

I have a seen this bass in pictures and videos in the past and now I cant seem to find it anywhere. What a beautiful bass it is too. I would actually kill for one. Any one know where I could find any pictures or info on this wonderful looking instrument? I'm fairly sure he used it around 79 with the The Police. Thanks Kev

I have installed the new bridge and set up the bass and it plays really well. Id like £360 for the whole bass. It is made up of a 1962 Vintage Reissue Precision neck with matching reverse Hipshop Tuner (I will also include the original tuner too). A shiny Blue Body from a Mexican Precision bass with a spare black scratch plate and a fender replacement bridge. I will also throw in a good quality hardcase for the bass to be shipped in. Any questions please ask. Kev
