Do you know what they were selling for before Black Friday.

I mean know personally from checking last week rather than what they said they had reduced it from for Black Friday sale.

    Dave

Generally the Aguilar goes for between £170 / £180, and the shure in-ears sell for £100. So I’m pretty happy with the deal. Basically got the in-ears for free.

Sorry if you thought I meant that because I try to play along with backing track I think I’m ready to join a band I know my abilities and they are at the beginner level but my goal when I feel I’m ready is to try and join a band so I’m not really over estimating my abilities

I’m quite a optimistic person so I prefer looking at it as “don’t under estimate your potential”

I would suggest trying to find an informal band and start playing with other people as soon as possible.  If you wait until you think you are ready you can end up waiting far too long. Plus playing with other musicians will help you progress so much quicker than practice alone.

  3. If anyone is looking for a new place to buy their strings I can highly recommend strings direct. I had a dud E string that snapped before it was at tension. I emailed to ask if they sold single strings in that brand. They didn’t sell them but they went one better. They sent me out a new string for free including next day delivery!

Great service! I will be using them as my sole string provider now!

  4. To me it looks mainly like right hand muting. He rests his thumb on the E string to mute that. Then he is resting his ring / middle finger on the string lower (in pitch) than the string he is playing. I have never enjoyed his videos as I really don’t like his tone, but fair play to him he is making a decent living for himself on you tube doing what he loves!

  5. I would agree, push to bin it. Also I would suggest to your band that without keys pulling off any snarky puppy song would be a huge task, and the song would probably sound very thin, as the bass is doubled by atleast one synth for the most part. Don’t worry about the talent ceiling, keep doing what your doing and you will be able to play anything you want.

  6. Thanks Ambient for sharing Michael’s notes. I also think a good point was made that if you can play Sir Duke you definetly have the chops to play what about me. The real question comes down to the fact you don’t want to play it, in which case I would discuss this more in depth with your band. My other suggestion would be to play a simplified version and let the keys player beef out the sound.

  7. Just traded basses with Kev. Great guy, great bass, great communication! Kev went out of his way to help me out even though he was crazy busy! Deal with confidence! Thanks Kev!

  8. I don't understand the direction this thread has taken. The original poster is talking about how much he is enjoying learning scales, and everyone has jumped in suggesting he should do this, and that. I'm glad you are enjoying playing again, and hope you continue to be inspired!

  9. A lot of good advice so far. Other things I would try is listen to some of your favourite music. Also if you are being creative when noodling try recording your practice sessions then you can listen back to what you played and find the gems.

  10. Hi folks. About 10 years ago I bought a hand crafted bass off eBay, it was called a Schick zebra. It states that it was hand crafted in the Czech Republic. Recently I have been trying to find out more information about this bass and it's luthier, but I am coming up empty. Does anyone know anything about these basses? I will load some pics when I have figured out how to do it on basschat. Thanks

  11. I definitely noticed a huge difference when I changed to my MXR ISO brick. My signal chain of: Dunlop mini volume pedal, boss OC2, boss PS5, dark glass duality, iron ether frantabit, soundblox envelope filter, tc electronic sky surfer reverb, tc electronic nova repeater, Aguilar tone hammer, and ditto. Given the fact that the tone hammer needs 18V, and all the other pedals take different current draws, the mxr not only eliminated some ground hum I was getting, I also got better results from each of my pedals because they were actually getting exactly the current they needed. I can't recommend a good psu highly enough
