  1. luckily I thought of that before fitting the handle. Have now fitted first bit of lining.
  2. we're both following Christine, and there's no comparison. But I'm ok at normal woodwork. starting the lining today
  3. How did you get the slope from 21.5 to 20.5 straight with that draw knife ? Do you have magic eyes ?
  4. So, slowly progressing. Covering up mistakes with paint.
  5. the vacuum press. To hold the veneer onto the necks while the glue dries ?
  6. OK, I'll let you off then. So am I. In that last picture, you have the neck and the headstock. But why is the wider part of the neck which goes through the body in two parts ? I can see that the part the neck fits to needs to be at the right angle. Is it to keep the right thickness ?
  7. Is that it for the day then ? Cut up some bits of wood then stick them back together again ? Goodnight Christine.
  8. For those of you who don't know - Amazing. This is so accurate.
  9. what are the dragons made of ? How thick is the material ? But mainly, how on earth did you cut them into the headstock so accurately ?
  10. I will get back to it, but project is on hold at the moment to to external house repairs which I need to do before winter.
  11. You certainly have a good workshop. Especially that thicknesser.
  12. is it a planer / thicknesser ? Could we have a look ?
  13. Surely you didn't cut these with just a circular saw ? You said you had a thicknesser ?
  14. Do you need to borrow my chainsaw to cut that wood to the right shape ?
  15. Help please. I am going to support the top of the neck where shown. Should I also support the body / neck joint area, where the other piece of wood is ?
  16. And yes, that would have been a better way of doing it. Oh well.
  17. I've still got my 1963 Framus Star bass. What's the jazz bass ?
  18. I couldn't find a suitable case for my Ibanez Artcore AGBV 200. It is semi acoustic, so quite wide, and short scale. Bought some 3.6 ply, and some 95 x 12 pine and some 44 x 12 pine. I got this from a local timber merchant, but it's still bent and twisted, as you can see from the photos. I can't straighten it, so used the best bits and will sand off the worst bits at the end. Drew around the bass, allowing for adding some foam. I had to plane down the 95 to 62 so the case wasn't too deep. Cut the ply, stuck on the sides to make the bottom half.
  19. I'll do a separate build diary ( while we wait for Christine )
  20. While we're waiting for Christine, I thought I'd share my effort. Not hijacking this wonderful build, this is just for a joke. Rather than build a bass, I though I'd build a case for my bass. The wood almost fits. Just needed some old bits of wood, a saw, hammer & nails. Don't know what all the fuss is about.
  21. Hi. What is the actual scale length of this ? Richard
  22. in that first picture, you have a syringe. Are you on drugs ? I wouldn't blame you
  23. York 5 stringer found a solution for me. A Tiger bass gig bag from DJM. A bit flimsy, but fits and should do the job.
  24. Hudson bass in Cobalt blue. Totally unmarked. Active preamp. 34" scale. Weighs 3.4 kg. Bought from Cranes in 2016, 'cos it looks nice. £290 plus delivery, or can deliver locally in Berkshire / Hampshire
