Hi, I use a Hofner club bass, short scale, passive and mellow. I've just bought a TC RH 450 head, and a Berg AE 112 cab.

If I added a pre amp, not onboard, what would it do to the sound and volume ?

The lowest note on a piano is A, at 27.5 Hz. The next A, on a piano, is 55Hz, and is the same frequency as the lowest A on a 4 string bass. This is the same as the lowest A on a double bass as well. The next A on a piano is 110 Hz, and is the lowest A on a guitar.

I started with a Framus star bass, 30" scale, same as Bill wyman, and now have a Hofner Club, same scale.

So, same notes, but with shorter strings, the 30" scale has the strings at a lower tension, so more mellow sounding.

Just had a request for some actual photos, so I've added some. Also had a request about delivery to Belgium, which I would happily do for an extra £1,000.

Hi Mr Boy. I do. I've sold the 6 and got a 9, and with my 5.3 ohm Epi cab it doesn't really sound any louder. Just started in a practise studio with a band, and I can hardly hear my bass against the lead who has a 40 w Fender valve amp. But with a 12, I would need 2 cabs - with one, isn't it the same as a 6 ?

How are you EQing the Shuttle? I've seen posts about how some people think they are bass lite and others who don't think that at all. You might get more punch and "oomph" out of your rig by experimenting with the various gain controls and the EQ.

I would rather just keep the one 310 and get a more powerfull amp, if that would work. I haven't tried the eq yet, but I will, thanks.

Hi, I would like some help with choosing an Amp.

I have a Epifani UL 310, which is fine with my Shuttle 6 for practice. The 310 could provide 750w at its 5.3 ohms.

I need more power so was thinking of geting another UL 310.

But what could I use to power 2 cabs at 5.3 ohms each ?

Well, I talked to a local repair shop, and they said it sounds like a problem with the earth. I took it in to the shop, and it didn't make the noise, and they say that they have a good earth in their shop. Tried again at home and it does. So I tried it in a different room, on a different circuit in the house, and the noise is much, much quieter. Still there though.

So it appears to be something wrong with the earth in my house ?

My Wife's getting worried about me learning slap. She thinks she has a hard time anyway.

Dave, it's the only pedal I have. What else could I try ?

Dave, I've been a member for a while, and not asked you before, so here goes.

I have a Genz Benz shuttle 6, and have recently bought a Soundblox Pro distortion pedal. Once the GB warms up, say 5 seconds, it produces a Morse Code type noise through the speaker. This happens with the pedal connected before the amp or through the effects loop. ( with the latter, it even makes the noise with the amp on mute. )

I've tried it with a different amp ( a Marshall lead guitar combo ) and this works fine.

Is it something to do with the GB digital ? power supply is has instead of a transformer ?

Escholl has suggested a few things, including the power supply I am using, which is the included 2 pin with a uk adaptor.

Any ideas please ?
