No problem... It's lovely to play, just the same as a normal stingray! Not sure what you were expecting in terms of string width... How much bigger did you expect??

Hi all... just a feeler at the moment as not sure whether I want to keep this or not... Musicman Stingray SUB 5 bass - USA model, not the far east version. Got this in a recent trade and really like it, just have seen something else I have GAS for... Been stripped of the textured paint by the previous owner (hope he doesn't mind me using his images...) and it is a very good job. Nice smooth finish and the wood looks good underneath. Not natural finish quality wood, but that's what you pay 2 grand for in a new stingray. Black neck and tortie guard creates a very interesting look and it plays very nicely. Rumour has it Ernie Ball lost money on these, and they are comparable to other US models. These mimic the Stingray classic - 2 band EQ, no chamfer on the edge and separate pickguard and control plate. Much more preferable in my opinion. I would recommend an inspection so you can see the finish for yourselves. I am in the Great Yarmouth area near Norwich, can meet within a reasonable distance if required. Would be interested in a Yamaha TRB5 with cash your way if anyone is interested... Price is negotiable within reason. Carl.
9. Hi all... I recently acquired a Musicman Sub5 (the USA stringray-a-like - not the far east one)... The guy before me stripped the textured paint, and the wood left is ok... but not great. I was thinking about getting it refinished in something like a vintage creamy / white... mainly because I like the colout, it has a red tortie guard and this should look quite cool against the black painted neck which I'm leaving as is... Anyone know who could do this quite cheap? It isn't an expensive bass so if I move it on in the future I don't want to be hugely out of pocket.... Cheers!

16. Hi all - I need to raise some funds so am having to trade / sell this gorgeous bass! I am looking for a cheaper bass with cash, something like a Musicman SUB bass, Mex Jazz, something like that - must be a 5 string though... Let me know what you have and what offers you could throw at me! Pics of the bass are here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/lwdnaucik7q76y1/AAAOhcaWyzpx6ymfzDSO2XnZa?dl=0 They are retailing for £1700 on Thomann, and its a lovely bass to play - I will re-string with some Ernie Balls for the new owner. Details - Sanberg California TT5 Hardcore aged, Delano circuitry, have a look at the Sandberg website for more info. Any trial is welcome! Hit me with any offers...
17. Hi all... need to raise a bit of cash so am putting up my EBS amp and cab for trade. I need a small-ish and relatively lightweight combo to use for gigs - open to offers on this front but do need to rake in some cash on the deal... let me know and hit me up with any offers... Now have a combo in trade for the cab so the Reidmar is up for Sale - looks new and comes boxed. Anyone fancy this little beast?? Very loud 250 watts, never get it past 30% volume, classic EBS clean sound. £265 including delivery in the UK? Anyone? NOW £250 DELIVERED!!! EBS Neo 2 x 10 cab - VGC and perfect working order. A few scuffs on the corners and the knob for the tweeter control is missing but otherwise - sounds amazing! EBS Reidmar head - EBS's mini-head - 250watts when used with this cab at 4 ohms. Immaculate condition and boxed - bought originally from Bass Direct. I will throw in a decent laptop bag and speakon cable. I will add some pics but can't until Wednesday as the gear is at my regular gig!
18. just had a look at the john east retro deluxe... hmmmm.... active passive switching, swept mid range control, passive tone for those vintage moments... just wish I could try one first!
19. I think you could be right Pete... maybe I have just got use to the mids a bit too much! Need to get used to the alternative sound of the jazz... the pre in the bass does have a variety of sounds, but maybe I need a 3 band eq rather then 2. Anyone have a 3 band eq in their Jazz? recommendations?
20. Thanks guys... It's not about no love, it's just about versatility... Any other recommendations???
21. hi everyone... just need a few opinions on some possible jazz pup replacements... I have acquired a Sandberg 5 string jazz bass which I am really enjoying playing - tone wise - it sounds like a jazz bass with a little bit of oomph from the active electronics but still sounds like a jazzbass on steroids. I do a range of gigs and need versatile work horses -theatre, jazz gigs etc. so I am loving that part, but I was hoping that the sound was a bit more varied. Does anyone have any recommendations if I was to replace the pups and circuitry to make it more versatile? I think it has the Delano jazz pups and the standard Sandberg electronics. Barts? EMG? John East? Really need as much variety as possible (had a MM SR5 for many years) - or am I aiming for the impossible? Cheers for ay input!
