    (Headstock looks like a 2x2)

It appears to share some parentage with this Japanese monster - released as Burns in Japan and Imperial in the States:-

That does look similar, not sure if the body shapes are the same though.

I can't find any pics of the bass version, but as luck would have it there seems to be a modern copy available - Pure Salem, a new one to me.

Yes, why would you ever want to make something that weren't just an exact copy of something made before? 9_9

    Outrageous! >:(

    Shame on you Fender! :angry2:

Nobody's suggested that Fender don't try anything new.

There's always someone who says clean is best and bass doesn't need or shouldn't have any distortion. They seem to forget music isn't right or wrong. What works for one person may not work for another. For every bassist who loves a crystal clear clean sound, there's another in a metal band who needs a heavily overdriven sound to work with the filthy guitars.

In a band you have to abandon your ideal isolated tone in favour of what works best with your band. Lemmy is a perfect example of this, his bass sounds awful in isolation but in the mix it's spot on.

I think Lemmy sounds glorious in isolation! Well, his early stuff anyway. His signature Rick sounded like a chewed-up wasp to me.

  4. I'm in two minds about this  - this is the third Starfire I've owned as I regretted selling the others, but I think I need to accept the short scale and skinny neck aren't really working for me! It's a shame as the sound is wonderful.

Tonally, add a bit of drive and it's instant Jack Casady/Jefferson Airplane. It can really roar.

It's been recently set up with TI flats.

The bass is in superb condition, just some very, very minor light marks to the top edge of the headstock and the bottom edge of the body. Hardly noticeable.

    Original Guild hardcase included.

Collection from Dartford preferred, could possibly meet up too if not too far.

Dang. Maybe it's Thrill of it All.

It's almost certainly on Sabotage whatever it is.

Sabotage is my favourite Sabbath album, in fact it's possibly my favourite album ever, but I think Geezer's best work is on the earlier one-take albums with little in the way of overdubs or extravagant production.

I'll probably go for Master Of Reality as Geezer's finest hour, the whole album is one long bass solo.
