  1. Absolutely gorgeous! One of my dream basses, if I wasn't restoring a Moon PGM right now I'd have this.
  2. I'll also post my other project when that's done. I'm building what I hope is a superior version of the darkray with mostly real musicman parts but that one has a graphite neck as well. It seems to be incredibly difficult to do pots with light up led rings around them? Never would have guessed that would be the stumbling point so far
  3. I will have to get myself together and record some audio examples. Because of the filter pre you can get some dub sounds if you go all the way, about halfway is almost a hint of auto wah sort of subtle squelchy q tron sound and all the way it sounds crystal clear and bell like. You can get really different tones from a very small amount of knob twiddling.
  4. Sorry I forgot controls, they are 3 way pickup coil selector, nfp filter preamp q amount, volume, then a killswitch.
  5. Yes people spotted the g string when I originally posted it in the build thread. I already swapped it over I just couldn't be bothered taking new pictures. Haha The neck is a status graphite MM neck with a jazz bass nut width. Well spotted that is indeed a Herrick pickup, it's an 8 coil. Wired with a three way switch so it can do 4 coil humbucker p and reverse p as well. It's also got an nfp filter preamp. I cannot recommend Martin at Herrick enough. Brilliant guy and the best customer service!
  6. Might as well post my recent build.
  7. Great idea for a thread. I've got a bass which is now my favourite that I tried to do an amazon return with!
  8. What's done? Is the mould made? This is all very exciting
  9. Absolutely love the wood. Will be following this one
  10. Bought a pickup from Dan, held off shipping as I was on holiday. It was fantastically packed and was waiting for me when I got home. Top bloke!
  11. I have multiple jazz basses I could measure but none are official Fender, is that a problem?
  12. This seems a really great price. Trying to resist the urge...
  13. I'm really pleased with the results. I'll have to get myself together and record some samples. The 8 coil pickup is very hot (not suprising) and full sounding. Then with the nfp you can get dub tones and most stuff in between as well as having an in built wah pedal if you wiggle the knob. But the graphite neck cleans everything up.
  14. Just thought I'd post the finished product. American Ash stingray body in gloss Musicman Hardware apart from Hipshot Ultralight tuners 8 Coil Herrick Pickup Controls are kill switch, then nfp filter preamp, then volume then 3 way switch (goes between 4 coil P humbucker, then full 8 coil, then 4 coil reverse P humbucker) Finally Status graphite MM neck with J Bass nut width
  15. Always wondered how this would sound. There plenty of MM + J combo basses out there but haven't seen this before
  16. Brilliant! Thanks, it's time to see what an 8 coil stingray sounds like!
  17. Thanks for the responses, so if I'm following then it's white and green to the bottom and brown and yellow to the left and right lugs respectively. Just like the diagram. Then wire the surround (earth) to where the black wire is in the diagram?
  18. I'm doing one myself at the moment with a "holoflake" finish. It's much much more subtle than a glitter or sparkle or anything like that. Just matt black underneath and then it's black but shines different colours in the light. You can get a decent result from a rattle can as well
  19. I apologise for my ignorance as I'm used to doing much more simple passive wiring jobs. I'm trying to wire a 3 way switch that looks like this The wiring diagram that I'm following is this one BUUUUT the colours for the wires on the diagram aren't the same as the pickup. Those are listed on the box and look like this Can anybody please help with what colour should go where? I know it should be a simple soloution, the pickup is an 8 coil pickup but can be split into using one of the pairs (turning it into a p style humbucker) the other pair (turning it into a reverse P humbucker) and all active for full 8 coil mode.
  20. PM Sent, as someone who has 3 graphite necks and didn't think it was realistic to get any more with how rare they are now, this is brilliant!
  21. Bought a number of basses from bassbros, they have come with some of the best setups I've ever played. Great company to deal with too. Never sold or part ex'd with them.
