Hi all , Have been getting a real craving for something a bit vintage, I love the look of the Danelectro basses but nowhere seems to stock them. Anybody know of where these can be aquired and what sort of price range thease are likely to go for?

Hi, I have aquired real bad GAS for a violin bass. Girlfriend is less than pleased , specially since i recently had my squier fitted with seymour duncans, however nothing quite sounds like a hollow body bass with flats on , so I am on the hunt for a low cost (my finances are pathetic) hollow body violin bass but dont know where to aquire one. Any suggestions , links etc appreciated

Just a few i thought i should mention , i dont know the names of all these players Paul McCartney (his basslines are like songs within songs, he has a tone to die for) Duran Durans Bassplayer (listen to rio you'll understand) the Bassplayer from the Smiths The Bassplayer from the Killers Sting (specifically the stuff he did with the Police) The Bassplayer from the Eagles (simple but effective and an awesome tone too)

well despite becoming quite attached to my bass since doing some upgrades I would definately swap you my bass for your hofner anyday

keep your current bass , you can get some nice japanese fenders for quite a good price so maybe that is the way to go ,just make sure you try them before you buy

have now added seymour duncans and will be adding pickup covers very,very soon, I am currently looking to fit a 2 band eq , any suggestions?

Where can I get one and will it work with any passive pick ups?

Thanks for the suggestions , will try the kitchen spong idea and see how that works for me. Has anybody tried putting foam underneath the strings (ie - piece of foam on saddles underneath strings) and if so has it worked ok?

Thanks for the advice. The strings are quite bright at the moment but even so they still sound noticeably bigger than any rounds i've played so i have high hopes. Will Fast Fret help to break the strings in?

I have been reading about some abss players using a foam mute near the bridge, i wouldlove to try this but dont know where to aquire this from , any suggestions?

Thanks for the replies, I have taken the flats back to the shop who have swapped the A string for me so thats that sorted, will put A string on and will see how these flats go once they have been broken in as I have read some good things about them

I am just wondering what peoples opinions on Daddaro flats are, I have just bought a pack of these and have found that the strings are way too bright and to top this off the A string is dead and rattles like mad. Will probably end up putting my old strings back on which is a shame as I was after some flats

Hi, am trying to learn taxman by the beatles and whilst most of the song is fairly straight forward , paul mccartney does some really odd bass fills on some parts of this song, does anyone have a bass tab for this?

I did also wonder coz it is a squier and ive heard that squier tone pots are a bit cheap and nasty
