Not sure how much this sort of work costs, so any pointers would be good
I'm doing one very soon and It will cost me £90 to have a 5-string defretted, holes filled with thin veneer and a layer of epoxy over the fretboard. The bass is Ibanez SR305 Jack

Or still in planning?
Delivery estimate is between 3-4 months and the work has begun Here's some pics : MDF template for the body Nice picture of the wood Top being glued up More updates to follow Cheers Jack

As Simo's inbox can confirm I am very excited about it and probably won't stop playing it for couple of days as soon as I'll get it And yes Simo's work looks very impressive, especially when you follow his builds it just shows the amount of dedication and attention to detail and that's what wins him over other builder out there. For me of course
Yeah, the pickups = FAIL. Wrong way round for a start... and visually... well, ugh. IMO of course. Quite pleasant woodwork though.
Might be wrong way around but sounds the very proper way around IMO. As for the exposed pickup poles, they look good because the don't look like every other bass pickups IMO. Cheers Jack
Thats gonna be sweet, apart from having too many strings of course Never heard of Simnett guitars so fair play for going for something different.
No trying to say it in the wrong way but I don't like the ''bigger'' builders out there so I went with Jon as his work is very impressive. Here's a link to one of Jon's builds http://simnettguitars.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=1179.0 To say it absolutely amazing would be an uderstatement Cheers Jack

Strings - bulk buys and cheap deals
JackLondon replied to Gunsfreddy2003's topic in Accessories and Misc
www.stringbusters.com are pretty decent and I think they do bulk buying!
+1 Deffinitely worth buying from them if you're thinking in bulk Jack -
Eurgh, all that 'orrible wood. It's got too many strings aswell. What were you thinking putting that on here!?
shhhhhh....mine's going to have more strings
I was looking at these units too, but wasn't sure if their performance would be throttled by my pc only having a basic onboard soundcard.
It all depends I think, through this unit you just plug a guitar no amp nothing, I then use monitors to provide the sound and use the Line6 PodFarm to process the sound of different amps etc, to be honest it will not sound like professional studio but even with the lower end sound cards you can get what you want out of it, you just going to have to work 5 times harder for it

I've got one of those http://www.nevadamusic.co.uk/brands/Line_6...1348/p7428.aspx You can plug monitors straight into the unit so you don't get any latency in your sound playback, works the magic that bit of kit

Need a set of strings with a tight B String
JackLondon replied to thewalruswaspaul's topic in Accessories and Misc
DR Lo-Riders, I use them with my 6-string and it's very tight -
Er, have you thought about getting a suitcase on wheels? One of the hard ABS or whatever they're made of ones. You'll get the usual 'you going on holiday after the gig?' comments from your bandmates but it'll make things easier. I used one briefly but it was cheap pish and I snapped the handle off it.
Well the standard suitcases don't take the effect in, the bigger size ones are just big and everything is loose. I was more after something like this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/133298 but that's to small inside.

I was looking for something more robust and hard-case type thing
-
Yo fellow bass maniacs, I'm having a bit of nightmare with lugging my stuff around for practice and was wondering if any of you guys can point me in the right direction. For my bass I use a semi-hard gigbag from tom&will which makes my life a bit easy but I use Boss GT10B which weights the best part of 10lbs and now I'm going to take my amp with me as well which weights over 12lbs. I was looking for something like a suitcase on wheels that can fit both of those things and I can just wheel it behind me which would make it easier during rush-hour on the Tube. Any ideas, suggestions ? I'm probably looking to spend no more than £60 Cheers Jack
