1. Are you sure they weren't holding the doors shut to stop people escaping ;-) I must admit we treat the venue really badly. Most places we taylor our sets to the likely clients, at Cheers they get what ever we want to play on the night and ram it down their throats, but they seem to like it ;-) Still, it should be a good laugh. Have fun at the half brick.
2. We are currently in liason with Mark to get a gig at the Years Club. Good luck for Friday. I would come down be we are playing the hell hole known as Cheers ;-)

4.
At last we get to Worthing. Hopefully it will go well, but we shall see. Worthing has been a bit of a desert for uss at the last few gigs there. Still the Half Brick is a rock pub so we live in hope. Tonight it's the Admiral Drake, and I think I shall head down there shortly to watch the rugby
Hi I play in Dropzone and we were wondering if the half brick punters would be into Nu metal? as I have never been there? I have listed our set below to illustrate what we play. Ta Mike BEAT IT - Fallout boy LAND OF CONFUSION - Disturbed SO LONG - DZ LAST RESORT - Papa Roach NO-ONE KNOWS - Queens of the stone age FROM OUT OF NOWHERE - Faith No More CARS - Gary Numan INFESTATION - DZ HEAD LIKE A WHOLE - nine inch nails THROUGH GLASS - Stone Sour CLEANSE - DZ WEEPING SORE -DZ ZOMBIE - The Cranberries PSHYCOSOCIAL - Slipknot IN THE END - Limp Biscuit BODIES - Drowning Pool 3030150 - Stone Sour CHOP SUEY - System of a down BREAK STUFF - Limp Biscuit DUALITY - Slipknot FREAK ON A LEASH - Korn
5.
If your budget permits i highly recommend trying the Markbass Jeff Berlin Combo. I use one with an extension 15" cab (with tweeter) and have never looked back. The Markbass 15"'s IMO sound quite different to most 15"s that i have tried (Ampeg/Fender/EBS/Trace etc) - they seem to articulate the highs well and holds a good funk sound down, i mainly play reggae though through the Markbass and have to say i feel its also perfect for that dub vibe too. I was always a 10" speaker guy having used a 6x10 as my main rig with an Eden head...said i'd never use a combo again and wouldn't be a 15"' man...well that kinda went out the window! Try a Berlin if you get chance buddy, Good luck with your search.
I am starting to regret not taking a Berlin when I had a chance. I was trying to get a lower priced and ended up lucking out. Still fortune favours the brabe ;-) Cheers Mike
6. Hi Gang After the amazind four views on my last thread I am ever hopeful!!! My band will be playing Cheers in Bognor on 6 March. Slipknot to Stone Sour - Korn to Drowning Pool - Machine Head - Limp Biscuit - you know the sort of thing The noise will start around 9 and finish when they tell us to stop and is much cheaper than seeing all the real bands at Download this year ;-) Entry is free, beer is not but is served till late. If you get bored check out our website at www.dropzone-band.com Cheers Mike

Weddings

We have only done one wedding. Everything went well. My one piece of advise is if you are doing one take spare leads - at least one of each type. Also physically check, by playing it thorough your PA, that you have the correct lead, not the one that is used in another setting to connect, laptop, iphone, MP3 player to your PA. Phoning and checking that they have the correct lead is not enough let me tell you!!!!! I have had a bad experiance with a lead (or lack of).
8. I think you are dead right. Watts / kilo is certainly a great starting point. Only problem is the 12" cone coping with a low A. It will do it but when I tried one out it was not a happy bunny and I doubt loud enough to gig even in a small venue with out PA support, however we do have a PA ;-) I certainly am starting to think the 112 with a 15" extension cab for gigs is the way I am going to go. So if someone could sell me a 112 cheap I would be very happy.
9. Like the look of the roaland but at 55 lbs is coming in at 13 more than the markbass 115?
10.
Gallien Kruger MB150S sounded ok when I had a diddle with it in some West End shop. - http://www.soundslive.co.uk/product.asp?id=1970
I am not sure the GK would have enough power. I nearly bought a second hand Jeff Berlin but couldn't quite agree a price as I am on the South Coast and would have had to travel to Wales to pick it up. I do wish they had put the amp down the back to reduce the size. I really like the look of the Mesa but I think the price will make it prohibitive. I would ideally like a 1 x 12 but appreciate for the money I have I may need to go 1 x 15 or 2 x 10 to get the volume I need. Anyone know of a bargain Mesa around ;-) Ever the optomist. Thanks Mike
11. Thanks for the advice. Anyone prepared to say which of these provide the loudest and smallest bang per buck ;-)
12. Hi Guys I see there is a lightweight cab thread, but I am looking to downsize my Hartke rig from a 3500 amp, 1 x 15 + 2x 10 cabs. I am hoping to get just one cambo that will deliver a similar sound but just the size of a 1 x 15 or 2 x 10 cab. IE I am after a loud, lighweight, small combo. It does need to be man enough to provide a backline for small gigs? I am aware of the Markbass and Eden Nemesis but have yet to try either out. Are there any others out there you recommend I should try? Many thanks in advance Mike www.dropzone-band.com
13. I would take it off your hands if it was a 5 string. Anyone got a 5 string warwick or rockbass Vampyre for sale? Good luck with the sale. Mike www.dropzone-band.com
