3. On the issue of sped up or not, the drummer, Gergo Borlai, says on the Youtube page ...
Guys, it's not sped up. I made the video, I played on the drums. There is a fan on the front of Mohini. We both can play fast :-) Plus we can't afford to lie for the world. Plus she is living Mumbai/India and I'm living in Barcelona. It's quite hard to organize a video session in the same room. Believe me, we don't want to fool anyone. Best, G
4.
My Dad was not in the Applejacks.
Good story.
 5.
... (Think ... Applejacks) ...
Here we go with basswoman Megan Davies ... wouldn't embed so here's the link ... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yRxDKAYwlM
 6.
Clarence L. Fender! I learned something today
That's why some G&L serial numbers start with CLF ....
 7. This is more interesting, IMO. She's clearly very talented. http://youtu.be/qCIpqwJe-6o
 8.
Well, I own an actual bass guitar, the Fender Bass VI ...
The Bass VI is unusual and does historically use the word 'guitar' [in fact 'Electric Bass Guitar'] on the headstock. The Squier version, which I have, does not say that. Fender guitars, e.g. Stratocasters, Telecasters, Mustangs, Coronados, etc., do not use the word 'guitar' on the headstocks.
 9. I actually don't care what we call it or ourselves but here's the US Patent for a BASS GUITAR ... ... and another one doesn't even use the word BASS ...
 10.
Don't care. People get way too precious about this kind of thing.
Yes, why would anyone care? If I said to someone in possession of, for example, a Fender Precision bass 'so, you're the bass guitarist' and they replied 'no, I am a bassist, it's not a guitar', I would think 'what a pompous twat!'
 11. I'm English and I'm British. I've got ancestors who were Welsh and Scottish and Irish. I'm also European. I have other ancestors too but I don't really know about them. I've always suspected I was Phoenician. If he can't take constructive suggestions then sack him whatever his ethno-national status.
 12.
Does that mean this thread is finally finished? Please?
Of course not ... And if it was finished, there would be another one just around the corner.
 13.
in the meantime, come to Oxford for the official Tallulah Gosh Experience tour, stay at the Ride hotel and take a wander to the pub where Gary Glitter once won a fiver out of the fruit machine!
I was thinking perhaps I'd prefer the Ashmolean.
 14.
If they were there as a family they're best left alone, he doesn't appreciate them being interrupted then, but if he's on his todd and looks amiable buy him a malt & he may well "hold court". I met up with him after a book talk he did before Xmas and we were slavering for the best part of two hours; his touring days, guitars - he still rates John Birch, family, catching up on who's doing what now & a "guess who" as to who he says did a much better Xmas song than Slade's.
I don't know if family was there, presumably not as Django missing. Anyway, my advice was don't just go up to people when they are in a group and start chatting at them. It's rude.
 15.
Very possible; Django is at Liverpool Uni & plays in a band too. He has very proud parents, his Mum told me all about it when we met up over the drawing I did.
Another night the text was ' I am in same bar as Noddy Holder but too nervous to say hello'. Seems like proud parents visiting, as myself and Mrs ET did last week.
 16.
His son is 11 years old!?
I don't think so.
 17.
I've met at least a dozen pensioners who all "used to live next door to Noddy Holder's Mum" - and she didn't even live in a tower block!!
Son of ET texted me late one night (from Liverpool) saying ' I just met Noddy Holder's son'.
 18.
Maray is bloody lovely. There's a bunch of great food places sprung up on and around Bold St the last few years. Rookwood round the corner does a great burger. If you're up again and venture further afield to the "Baltic Triangle" area, a drumming mate of mine is the chef at The Baltic Social and cooks some stunning food. Glad you guys had a good trip!
Agreed on Maray. One of the guys running it is son of old friend of Mrs ET. And I vaguely know Bold St anyway due to Mrs ET lived next to bombed out church when a student at Liverpool 30 years ago. Son of ET is student there and lives in Kensington and has girlfriend living in the Baltic Triangle. We also have friends living in Hoylake. Liverpool is a popular place with us. One of son's friends is planning to move to Liverpool just because he liked it so much.
 19. Nut is too high for E string?

 22.
Thanks for that. We are a quiet band, but I'd want to be able to use it in other bands if necessary. This is the specific item I was thinking about: http://www.bassdirec...t_Suitcase.html
That looks to me like it would be fine volume wise but heavier. On the issue of sound being too clean just add a VT bass pedal.
 23. Phil Jones Bass Briefcase - 100watt, 2x5" I like it a lot, both tone and ease of carrying, but I only use it at home and for quieter rehearsals. Having said that, I expect it would be fine for quieter gigs, probably with no drummer, or with brushes, or with cajon.
 24.
Hasn't this been up before? (No offence intended Bb5.)
Yes. Good luck to her but not my cup of tea at all.
