1.
Bl**dy Christmas post!
Well, that's slow even for Xmas post. My Decade left Lakland on Fri Dec 5th - left US Sat Dec 6th - at Heathrow Sun Dec 7th - I traced it Mon Dec 8th - paid the extortionate fees/tax Tue Dec 9th - out for delivery Wed Dec 10th. Mind you I missed the delivery man and didn't get it until Thurs Dec 11th. Otherwise it would have been only five days door to door. Anyway, it's going to sound great with the Dark Star. Congratulations.
 2.
Pics?
And see here about half-way down.
 3.
... my score was twice as good with my eyes closed.
I was gonna make a joke about Ray Charles or Stevie Wonder but I decided it was best to get my coat.
 4.
I have decided that I will go for both!
Excellent call.
 5.
On reflection I guess so.... Duck Dunn et al
I guess the Precision, like the Jazz, is found in most genres of popular music. And I still sound like me whichever I play.
 6.
Steve Currie's exact bass was on eBay not so long ago - I think it passed through Entwistle's hands before reaching him, which makes it an even bigger piece of rock history!
It had a Guild humbucker added at the bridge, unfortunately. See it here.
 7.
The Move = great band.
+1000
 8.
Ok - fast forward to 1971 Middle of the Road - Jazz bass and Sally Carr looking great in those hot pants http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Gq6TRf2iMbI&...feature=related
Jazz bass? I didn't see a bass at all.
 9.
OMG!! ..............that is absolutely f**king stunning!!!.............gimme gimme gimme (please!)
Well, thanks for the request but you can't have it. ^_^
 10.
Great stuff - looks fab ! Nice to see something a little different. Must go to the Lakland website to hear what they sound like - if indeed they have clips up and running yet....... Hope you have hours of fun Bill
Thanks Bill. At the Lakland site the Decade audio clips are still with the Dark Star pickups. You can hear the Chi-sonic single coils in a Joe Osborn here. Imagine the same but with the neck pickup three inches nearer the neck and a mahogany body for the Decade sound.
 11.
There's no useful answer. They're so different. I quite like Ps and I hate the neck on a J and even more the utter stupidity of 2 volume controls. Having said that, what do I know, everybody seems to play a J Playing a Precision, in particular, says something about you - punk/rock.
I have different preconceptions - Precision says to me Motown/Stax.
 12.
I just tried the online time check. No wonder I gave up drumming
I tried that too. I could hit 'good' much of the time but to me the beat didn't actually seem to be constant. If you try to play behind the beat or in front of the beat on purpose then the speed seems to change. Weird.
 13.
But I can't get into the shop til saturday!!!!!! Dooooooooooooooooooh!
Frustrating. I know. I waited 17 months for my Decade. It will be worth the wait, Sarah.
 14.
Man... my New Year's Resolution of not buying a new bass ends in a few days. Now I know what to put on the top of the GAS list!
Yay!
 15.
looks good, is it solid under the pickguard? I reckon it'd look even better without
The US model is available without a pickguard but I can't find a pic of one. Personally, I prefer the pickguard. Basses without a pickguard look funny to me. The specs for the Skyline Decade were sorted by me and six others at the old Dudepit and this was to be a Dudepit Limited Edition of thirty only. The DPLE fell through for several reasons, not least of which was Dan Lakin liked it enough to make it the Skyline standard. From what I've heard they have sold in excess of a hundred of them already. As far as I know this is the only one in the UK and one of two in Europe so far - the other belongs to a guy called Mauricio in the Netherlands. Anyone know of any others?
 16.
I'd love to see an old Bells catalogue from the mid '70s. it was my porn of choice when I was a kid.
What? You preferred it to the Freeman's catalogue with Lulu?
 17. Or if you can run to it a Fender American Deluxe Precision has P pickup in the sweet spot and a double J at the bridge. Expensive new but s/h can be got for £600 or so. I love mine.
 18.
nice looking bass--even if it's not a Fender
Thanks. I tell you what, I'll do you a special picture of it next to my Fenders. Possibly with the cooker in the background.
 19.
That's a seriously nice cooker.
I thought someone would notice our excellent new Rangemaster. We have the matching Rangemaster American cooler too. But I still had two take away curries in the last two days.
 20. Thanks guys. It's hard to capture the exact natural colour - probably my rubbish photography.
 21.
A man after my own heart - you mean there are notes above the 12th?
No I meant above the 7th.
 22. Mmmmmmmmmmm .... tractor
 23.
+ another one - its either laziness or a pitiful attempt to hide the fact that they don't actually KNOW what key the song is in.
+1. Or even don't know what the chords are called.
 24.
Oops, should have looked prior to my initial post - here's a link to the 34" version - not really to my taste and I doubt the 30" will be much different in terms of styling: http://www.lakland.com/decade.htm Still, nice to see another quality manufacturer entering the short-scale market.
It will be the same I believe except for the neck of course. I'm not aware of any publically available pics of the prototype yet.
