1. This Item is now SOLD ************* RITTER RCG7006-DB/NBS DOUBLE BASS GUITAR BAG BLACK got this to take my two basses back home (overseas), but for those things in life my employer booked my flight with a company that won't allow me to take them onboard (I would of checked if it were me doing the bookings), so a hard flight case was the only option. As you can see from the photos, it is brand new. It has never left my room as it has been storing my basses while standing in the corner. It is well padded and will accommodate the bigger basses (a thunderbird would be streching it too much). It is going for 85 including shipping on ebay so I'll be happy with 45 collection in person or 55 shipped. It is an opportunity to get a great bag at a good price. I will not be available next week, but if there is no interest in it, it will just have to go to good old ebay with its cumbersome system.

    MR. BIG in London

just for the older lads or the newer looking for amazing bass playing (and also amazing guitar playing) http://www.o2shepherdsbushempire.co.uk/eve...php?showid=9512 cheers
  3. not in any way a professional, but to me the most important factor is volume. If you can't be heard over the guitarrists JCM900 your tone doesn't mater a bit (It also doesn't help if the guy at the desk turns you right down 'cause all the red lights come on when you are playing away). If you have enough headroom, then it is time to play arround with the knobs and a certain amp and cab can only do that much. I quite like my Warwick Protube with a 2x10 and 1x15 config. Nice fat sound and a lot of growl, thogh I just got a ashdown little giant just for the sake of transportability (still haven't paired it with a respective cab).
  4. how about your ears ???? those come free .... also guitars have a terrible tendency to go out of tune anyway.... I wouldn't blame the tuner but the guitarist.
Maybe if you drink enough beer between sets, your tuning wouldn't be important? (At least to you)
5. tuned in A ???? just like putting a capo on the fifth fret .... (and no open strings 'cause that would be cheeting) ... can you get them in six string ...haha just kidding .... or maybe not
  6. sounds very tempting.... I will have a think about it...
Hi everyone. So, Ive been talking with Jon about doing the bass building course on the 20th to 24th July this summer. Jon needs three people to run the course, and at the moment we have myself plus one other. So, if anyone else is interested in joining in for that week, please email Jon at [email protected] The course looks fantastic. The price is £675 for the week and amazingly thats including all materials - which is way cheaper than you could get any other custom guitar for, plus its really going to be fun building it! Have a look at this page if your interested: http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/coursedetails.html Mike
7.
If you know how your instrument / amp works it's like knowing how you work. Should something happen at rehearsal or worse, a gig, you'll know exactly what to do...in theory.
yeah.... if your amp burns out at soundcheck, go and get another one
  8. good stuff!!
Hey There Here's the bands... A fairly big list =P Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Motley Crue, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Helloween, Saxon, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Anthrax, TestAment, Dio, Ozzy Osbourne, Skid Row, Scorpions, MSG, UFO, WASP, ZZ Top Hows about you? Stevie.D!
9. yeap, sounds just like a kink in the string to me .... if you don't get the any buzz on the adjacent frets (or actually if the strings are old and have been played hard the metal on the string dents in). just try a new string. Just got this P-bass and it doesn't have any fretbuzz anywhere except on the low G were it has a grinding buzz. The string is visually deform... I guess the previous owner only played that note.
  10. Hi all, I've been around for a while looking at posts, seeking advise and trading stuff so I thought I would drop a line in this section... I'm currently in the UK for a year doing my masters, and originally come from Chile (South America, right beside Argentina). I have been playing bass for about 15 years now, and get worser every day. I listen to all sort of stuff but my list of favorite bass players would have to include: Billy Sheehan, Stanley Clarke, John Myung, Stuart Hamm, Oliver Holzwarth, Roger Glover, Glenn Hughes, Stuart Zender, Geezer Butler, Steve Harris, Victor Wooten, and many many more. I currently own many more basses than I deserve, but its only to compensate having to get up every morning to go to the office. All the studying has increased my GAS and now I have to see how I'm gonna get all my stuff back home in one piece. I particularly like Status bases and my last acquisition a sunburst 1989 Fender Precision Lyte, that replaces my hard earned one I got stolen when I was at high school. My bass highlight is supporting Die Totten Hosen (german punk band) when they were on tour in Chile (I got to fill in for the supporting band when the bass player could't make it) and after that sporadically small gigs and clubs (got a full time job that makes it hard to take my playing to the regular gigging level)
  11. Hi, probably of no interest to anyone... but I also noticed this guy when watching the BBC Radio whatever and was happily surprised to see a bass very similar to mine (Its back home so I nearly shed a tear). So it is a Status, but it is either a Matrix Series 2 or a Matrix Empathy (can't tell the difference between them, but I think its a Series 2 from the finish) The Matrix Series I has P/J pickups (or J/J when the 5 string came out) and has a stacked EQ, so only three knobs. From I-Player I get Morgan Nicholls's has soapbars and four knobs. Definitely the bridge is not original nor are the massive knobs. The reason you didn't find it on the website is that they were made in the early nineties then passed to be the headed (and fancier) Empathy after that and then passed to be the headed S-2 He also plays really well....
  12. Man, I cant even imagine spending 4k on a bass.... imagine hitting it against something in a gig.... you are planing on giggin it, right? Just how much can a bass improve over £800. From your list of gear you are probably fairly aware on what all those basses do and don't do for you, so just try as many instruments as you can without looking at the price tag and get the one that fulfills your requirements.... who knows, maybe it is an old battered squire and you will have about £3800 to spare.

    Ramps

The expensive way go is finding a bass that has a massive pickup in the right place...... ..... Status Groove for me
  14. Status: awesome neck profile and infinite sustain
Status. Well balanced, reliable, built like a tank, versatile. Not much a Status can't do!!
15. I tried a Sledgehammer 5 at the bass gallery (mahogany - the red one). I really liked it.... but then I was looking for a Status 5 ... that subsequently was a Status 6 .... another story. The thing is... is that it is seriously light.... sort of... in a weird way. When I picked it up, I thought it was hollow. But it produces great tight tone.... so I would actually recommend it to anyone that has back problems (or really light players like children and women). it is very compact ... If it weren't for the fact that I am well over my bass quota I would maybe fall for one. I have another Dean at home, and the value for money is great.
You're not playing enough!!!
16.
I had black pearl on my Met Blue Ray 5 (now with Bubinga 5). Looked excellent - so much that I got a black pearl pg for my CAR Ray4.
hehe... any pics possible???? I am really finding it hard to decide..... black pearl, white pearl or ... CLEAR. I think.... I'm a bit towards white pearl... just 'cause it produces a massive contrast.
  17. Also Geddy Lee's is definitely maple.... very nice too... http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0257702306
Hmm it's strange... I love P basses with maple boards but have always thought Jazzes look much better with rosewood boards. I've not lost any sleep over it, but I thought I'd share this with you.
18. mmm, keep em coming..... they all look great....
+1 for me on blue!
20. gold... interesting .....reminds me of Steve Harris's (Iron Maiden) P-Bass though the neck on mine is black, not maple. Also, I was thinking black perloid, white perloid or cream perloid (as opposed to plain black or white)
Gold would look superb
21. Yet again I come here to seek advice, Even when I spent considerable time trying to convince myself that the aluminium pickguard on my Musicman SUB looked cool, I have accepted it and will be replacing it with a decent one. I have narrowed down my set of choices, but would still like to see them for real before ordering. As I know you all like showing off your basses (and with reason) I would appreciate anyone that has a blue SUB with a scratchplate different from the original to post a pic of it. Also anyone that has any dark blue bass with a pickguard on is welcome. Suggestions are also welcome. My favorite at the moment are black, white or cream perloid. Here is the bass presently with an imaginary scratchplate, but I think I prefer a visible one. this thread is probably dead, but for the sake of anyone else I'll upload the result very pleased !!!
  22. man, that makes me jealous..... how come I don't have to go to japan for random reasons.....
I'm going over to Japan to see them play at the Budokan on 20th June! Obviously not going just for them, but its another good reason to go to Japan!
23. The numbers sounded absolutely unbelievable to me.... but here is the truth "The Promethean is considered a Class D amp. During the operation of a Class D amp, the circuitry is switched either on or off, rather than operated in linear mode. This technology allows for its light weight and compact nature, without sacrificing power. The P5110 Combo weighs only 27.6 lbs (12.8"W x 13.1"H x 14.2"D). The P500H head (11"W x 10.4"D x 2.2"H) alone is only 6.4 lbs" The head weighs as much as my little giant 2x500@4ohm, now if a cab that size and weight delivers it would be neat. Only have used an Ibanez 150W combo before, thought it was rubbish. The owner thought it was rubbish but had to buy it in an emergency, and hasn't managed to sell it for a reasonable price since. Always wondered how they manage to make great instruments on a budget, but their amps are so bad. Absolutely noone uses them.
Well, i use a small 65w ibanez amp at home for a practice amp, and it was the best sounding small amp under £250 in the shop when i was trying them out...
24. I really like my Presonus Comp16. It adds nothing except for great compression. Only drawback is that it has 16 presets (you only control gain and output)... so if you don't like the set ups you are done. Though I must say I rarely use more than 3 presets. I might point out it is not a bass compressor, it is for studio. It is a third of a rack unit, but I just stand it on my amp. Also sometimes when there is good PA and I can't be bothered to lug my amp around, I just plug the balanced output to the PA and everything works fine.
  25. Its obvious that Warwick have to try to make Rockbasses look like they are real Warwicks. Making to much of a difference breaks the imaginary difference between the cheaper instrument of an established brand and just a warwick copy. Without any research to confirm, I would believe that a Rockbass doesn't ever come near to anything related to a "real" Warwick until it sits beside one in a showroom. If you need to flag out which of the two basses is the cheap copy.... there might be something very good about the copy, but most probably there is something incredibly wrong with the original, otherwise why pay six times the amount of the cheap one. Having said that, IMHO if you have a pricey Warwick (or any other pricey instrument) and run in to a Rockbass, that feels the same, plays the same and doesn't make any difference to you or anyone else, you have just discovered you have an extremely overpriced bass,so sell it at a premium price and get a bigger amp, new bike, or whatever.
Don't get me wrong, I'm with everybody else in the fact that I think the rockbass logo looks awful (hell I own one amongst the many other things ) I think it's just the way that a lot of companies are going with corporate branding on a lot of walks of life at the moment. Even musicman are doing it now with the new sterling range looking the same as the us ones. One plus point for bass geeks though, is it makes you more of a geek being able to spot the expensive one from a cheaper one at a distance
