  1. Hi, I often have the same problem in the opposite direction when I detune from E standard - my ears and my hands have a hard time syncing up at first. However, I think it does gradually start to make sense after a few minutes / hours. Sorry that I can't offer any real advice or hints, but seeing as you're dealing with the same intervals, it shouldn't be too much of a problem given some time!
  2. Des'ree - 'Life' Yup, it's the one with those terrible lyrics. Had to learn this for a first dance, and the original bass take has some fun moments. No idea who the player is though! If anyone has any intel, let me know. TAB | NOTATION Original bass: Uncredited Transcriptions archive
  3. I'm fairly sure Tim Commerford used BEAD tuning in the later days of Rage Against the Machine and then into Audioslave. I've always wanted to try it myself, but never had an excuse!

  16. Good for you for having an opinion. However, the OP asked a question about theory, and your response added nothing to the discussion in this context.
  17. Transcribed this a couple of years ago, decided to revisit today. That 16th-note fill in measure 10 (doubled with overdubbed xylophone) blows my mind. Maybe I'll get around to a playalong sometime. Vulfpeck - 'Welcome to Vulf Records' (tab & notation) Original bass: Joe Dart Transcriptions archive
  18. Because it is. It's mostly ok, but there's the odd moment when a phrase is rushed, pushing and pulling at the time in a very elastic way that throws you out of yourself.
  19. Needed to learn this for a gig; it has some nice bass moments in it, so I thought I should do a proper transcription. WHY IS IT ALWAYS PINO PALLADINO? Harry Styles - 'Watermelon Sugar' [notation / tab] Original bass: Pino Palladino Transcriptions archive
  20. Hi Petr, at the moment most of mine are intermediate, but I'll aim to get more beginner level videos out there asap!
  21. The main groove in this is so cool. So much space. In the playalong above, I tried to keep it relatively sparse for the first couple of sections, then started to fill it out a bit. However, the bridge is a note-for-note version of what Andre Bowman laid down originally. Mary J. Blige - 'Just Fine' [notation / tab] Original bass: Andre Bowman Transcriptions archive

  23. Freddie Washington is the man. Another one of his tunes with Patrice Rushen, which was composed by Freddie too. I only heard this for the first time a few months ago, but I knew I had to get it transcribed as soon as I did! Patrice Rushen - 'Never Gonna Give You Up (Won't Let You Be)' [notation / tab] Original bass: "Ready" Freddie Washington Transcriptions archive
  24. (Obviously, use your judgment when considering what's appropriate for the gig - not everyone needs to hear a double thumb rendition of Valerie) PDF & backing track: https://www.patreon.com/huwfoster Anaconda Ultra P4 Essence: https://www.anacondabasses.co.uk/ 0:00 Demo 0:40 Intro 1:09 Why use more than one technique? 2:31 Pick 5:04 Fingerstyle 6:43 Slap 8:39 Double Thumb 11:12 Final thoughts
