  1. My BTB 780CM My first bass I bought about 10 years ago. Nice bass, but doesn't get played so much as now preferring the SR/jazz sized neck. Never seen another for sale, do Ibanez do limited runs of these basses?
  2. At the risk of looking a silly billy and making a joke off my own post, maybe "in stock" ment 'in Stockholm '....... 🙄 Coat on and Taxi ordered... 🚕
  3. "in stock" when I ordered a Squire Jazz online (and a very well known shop) meant it was in Sweden and took 5 weeks to arrive! However, one of the machine heads had snapped off and they replaced all 4 with genuine Fender ones, so they made up for it. But totally agree with you. In stock should mean they can see it... I feel your frustration
  4. Why is Stewart Copeland playing guitar and Andy Summers playing the drums?
  5. The only old photo of me on bass. Local gig, 1983, Shergold bass. John Taylor inspired neckerchief.....
  6. Ones I've used.... -Fender rumble, headphone o/p, aux i/p -Zoom b1 four, headphones, aux i/p, drum tracks -NUX mighty plug 2. Headphones, Bluetooth, its own app for different modeling, no leads. All are under £500 so there are probably better if you are spending that much, but these have been very good to practice with.
  7. I think they must visit my bass after yours!
  8. Thanks for the comments and suggestions. The intonation was still bang on. I've managed to pull the sound back, but couldn't say what particularly did it. A little tweak of the bridge hight, a nudge of the pickups, a slacking off/tensioning of the strings. I'm enjoying the Jazz, but she's a temperamental thing sometimes
  9. Just found this thread, and as I have this thought I'd chip in. I used to use the Vox bass amp, but that finaly broke so bought this as I like to practice on headphones. The lack of cables is great, as is having different effects/amp sims etc. But what i don't like is the overall sound of the music played via bluetooth. Its very bass heavy (and not even in a nice punchy bass way) and really over compressed. And the presets music eq's are just awful. Not musical at all. Plus it's not that loud. There's an alternative app tho, called Mightier Amp (at least it is on Google play, don't know about Apple store). Its a slightly better version and even has a latency 'fixer'. Music still sound rubbish though. Maybe its my 80ohm Beyerdynamics that are the issue as stated above. Worth trying a lower ohm set. Wish there was more dedicated bass app too. I also have the zoom B1four which sounds much better, but that's normally on the pedal board, so more hassle to get out for a quick practice.
  10. The bridge height hasn't changed but I'll try a wiggle at the bridge slot incase the string arn't sat right. I literally just took it out the gig bag and tried tuning. Its possible the saddles moved during rehursal. String height etc is the same and I've not changed the pickup height.
  11. Hi I wonder if I can pick some better brains on here. I bought a Squire vintage vibe 70s Jazz in October last year. I was pretty disappointed with the initial setup as it came. However, I can do my own setups/fret leveling etc and have now got it playing nice. But that's a story for another thread. I've been used to Ibanez's in the past and this is the first Fender/Squire I've owned, so not used to their particularities. Last week I was tuning up using harmonics on the 5 and 7 and each one rang clear as a bell with nice sustain. Used it at rehursal and sounded great. Yesterday however, I do the same and the D and G harmonics just sort of clunk, no sustain, no nice tone. The open strings don't sound as clear as they did either. However, the harmonic on the 12th is fine. The 7 not too bad, but the 5 is terrible. I noticed that the bridges were touching so moved them apart, and it did improve a little. The relief looks a tiny bit less flat than normal. But as I can't see anything else that has changed that much I'm a bit baffled as to whats happened, and don't want to go round in circles trying to fix it if someone can point to the cause. Are Squires know to be tempermental and require adjustments? The Iby's are pretty stable. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
  12. I thought my BTB was heavy at about 7ibs untilI bought a Squire 70s vintage vibe which weighs 12.9lbs! Not reading in to it anything about weight v tone (I do realisethere'smore to the sound than just weight), but when listening acoustically (with the right ear against the top horn) there is definitely more body/sustain to the Squire, and an even bigger difference between those 2 and the sr500 at about 4lbs.
  13. From other DAWs I've used there's a couple of things (sorry if you've tried them and they sound "simples") Is there a destination folder/harddrive selected for it to record onto? You say you press the play button, normally you'd press the record button and it would go straight into record. Is there a dropin function thats been selected by mistake? IE you haven't reached that time marker yet so its not recording until you reach it.

  15. Really sorry, for some reason i can't remove that last picture. 🥺
  16. Not sure if you are still building your board/mains, but I did a similar thing on a board I built. Used one of these, with a fuse and switch, and joined them to the extention board with an inline connector. All screws, no soldering or bare wires and all available from Amazon. Only tricky part is makeing the hole to take the socket, and fitting it all in. Make sure everyrhing is held down though, nice strong velcro.
  17. I did the live sound for a celtic rock band in the early 80s in the Bristol area. In a thick Bristolian accent, the mandalin player would (shout) count them in "1,2,3,...1,2,3" ..for a 4/4 piece. I expect it was more for show as they all came in right and stayed tight. But it was funny.
  18. We had our (much more humble than previous posts) 2nd gig in the 2 years since we formed. Thanks to covid. We organised it ourselves in the village hall, about 100 people where we've put on loads of other local bands before. Cracking night. The singers dress strap snapped, so spent half the set trying to prevent a serious "fall out". And the foldback decided to go AWAL. But the audience was well up for a night out with much dancing and even 2 encores. Great to be back out. Roll on the next one. Good to see others gigging again after such a difficult period.
  19. This is very true, having had to do it myself for a couple of masters before going to the cutting room.. I've even seen where the varispeed on the mastering ½" was left on by mistake and nobody noticed until the end of the session where by the desk had been reset and the tape op had a very difficult conversation with the engineer! As an aside, on a particular session back in the 80s we had a piano tuner come in to tune the studio grand piano. We had a strobe tuner set up in the control room for everyone to tune to. I was asked by the producer to ask the piano tuner to tune the piano to the strobe tuner. He refused to tune each note to the tuner, but would tune A to the 440 of the tuner and the rest by ear. The minute variations in the pitches done this way added to the richness of the piano sound.
  20. Hi all. Ooh I hate introductions, but here goes. I started playing bass at 17 (back in the very early 80s) when we needed a bass player in the band and the singer/songwriter/lead guitarest refused, swapping over from rhythm guitar. It was definitely a swap for the better! However, I also liked playing around with tape machines etc and this lead to me getting a job as a tape op in a Bristol studio, which meant the bass took a back seat. I did loads of live sound as well as studio work with top Bristol bands. The big change came at 20 when I managed to get a job in a major London studio (Red Bus). Big lights, big city! Worked for 15 years in studios, worked with many named bands and producers. Did a few tours as a live engineer, and was lucky enough to engineer on a few records that made top 40. Long hours but amazing times. But no bass playing! (on a serious level anyway). Left London late 90s to return to Bristol. Still worked in audio and still doing live engineering, but still had a love of the bass. So about 10 years ago bought my first bass (Ibanez btb) off a friend to play around with. I've left the audio side behind now but it's still ingrained in me. Skip to the end.... Joined a band about 2 years ago and started taking it a bit more seriously. Just as covid hit! Did my 3rd ever gig on stage (rather than behind the desk) recently after break of 40 years. Loving it again and really regret not keeping it going from my youth, but making up for lost time now. Still have the btb, but thats been joined by an Sr500, a Fretless, an accustic and a soon to be 'birthday present to my self' Squire Jazz. Been reading to forum for a bit now and love the fact it's a real mixture of people, pro' s, non pro's, builders etc. The knowledge here is so broad. Look forward to reading more and gaining more and more knowledge. Well, that was more than I thought I would write! Have a potato.....
