  1. Another bump for a well regarded and versatile FX unit that’s a steal....
  2. Well time moves on and I’ve actually got playing again. Just home stuff in my little practice room. I am really enjoying getting back to ‘bassics’. I bought a Lakland Skyline P/J £600 off in the recent GuitarGuitar sale as I wanted a P with just 4 strings. I love it, such a good bass and the Plek’d board makes it a real joy to play. Then the desire for a matching 4 string J sorta grew and I bought a Mexican Jazz from Nick on here. In part I grabbed it because it had Hipshot upgraded tuners and luthier refined fretwork. It’s a joy also, two great basses (and my 2 ACGs and Rita) I’ve already added a Hipshot Type A bridge and some new pickups so some things don’t change.... What is different is that instead of learning theory followed by picking up tabs for songs I’m working on learning to improvise and use my ears more. Loving it all again. I hope a band opportunity doesn’t come along as I can’t afford a rig:)
  3. I saw some overwound neodymium Martin Herrick pickups on eBay with a 'make an offer' tab. I offered £75 and was well chuffed when it was accepted. That is £45 less than the usual price. I fitted them today and after some fettling I'm very pleased. Punchy and bright with great mids. I think they look good too. I initially installed them the same height as the original pups that came out (that are actually surprisingly good anyway). The Neo magnets are so strong that, particularly with the E string they were seriously affecting intonation and causing fret buzz! Lowering the pickups solved this although I was a little confused about what was going on at first. The originals have magnets epoxied to their underneath. I wonder if this is a mod? As I say they sound surprisingly good for Mexican standard pups. Here's a photo of the bass now and the magnets stuck onto the old pups:
  4. These highly regarded half rack units include a tuner and can be used for guitar, bass, keys, vocals etc. Price drop to £95.
  5. Fully functioning and boxed with manual and PSU. Can be viewed or collected in Kendal (near Oxenholme station)
  6. In extremely good condition complete with TGI case. Only seen light home use. Very bright and clear tone that projects well. There is a light mark on the lower bout that I've tried to photograph. Master built hand made instrument. Uke in Kendal (near Oxenholme station) and checking it out is fine. http://www.anuenue-uke.com/en/products/one/14/52
  7. I’ll take it. Will pm tomorrow. Peter
  8. I bought a Mexican Jazz from Nick. A lovely bass extremely well set up. Plays like a dream and the deal was done in the gentlemanly manner that I knew it would be. Peter
  9. Lovely basses. I miss my black one. If I hadn't just bought a new Lakland Skyline P/J for £700 I'd be seriously tempted. Lovely in red too....
  10. Thanks Nick. It's the GZRs that I was after I'm afraid. Hope all's well with you. Peter
  11. Are these the Geezer Butler set Nick? If so I'll tek 'em (My best attempt at a Cumbrian accent). Peter Edited to add, I checked, sadly they aren't (The GB ones are GZR-PJ).
  12. There were 9 when I first looked, 7 when I started ordering mine, 5 when I finished and a friend bought the last one on my recommendation. Very pleased with the bass. First Plek'd fretboard and it is extremely good. Well chuffed.
  13. This was mine. The legend is deserved.
  14. Indeed Russ. TRBs alas I've owned a few.
  15. No trades I'm afraid. If you read the opening post you'll se why. Peter
  16. No problem. At the nut it's 8.5 to 9mm and at the bridge 18.5 to 19mm. Fairly standard. The nut width is about 44mm. Peter
  17. This has been a hard decision and if the bass doesn't sell I can live with it. Since hanging up my gigging aspirations I've not touched a bass for about a couple of months. I have 4 of them sat doing nothing and I spend all my creative time with my little tenor Uke, absolutely loving it I bought this bass from the bass merchant for £1375 and it's only seen about an hour of home practice so it's effectively new. You could save a fortune! Saying that it's a 'soft aged' relic'd bass. I haven't been a fan of relic'd basses at all and I have said as much in this forum. The bass is an aged and slightly scuffed and chipped fiesta red with lightly tarnished hardware. I absolutely love it! Don't ask me why. It just works, really well. The neck of course is perfect, unmarked and everything is perfect from a construction and playability point of view. It shouts Fender Custom Shop quality very loudly. So it's a P bass with a Delano pickup and a Glockenklang 2 EQ with a passive mode and tone control. The dots are abalone and it's 34" scale. The fretboard is dark, grained and quite stunning. A zero fret too. I wanted a P5 and couldn't have found a better one. The added bonus is that it weighs 7.5lbs! It came with a Sandberg gig bag and I also have a Thomann generic hard case that I can ship it in. It's really lovely but I think I've said that already Lots of photos will follow. Collection would be best from Kendal but I can ship at cost.
  18. Now sold. Peter
  19. If you're close to Kendal you're welcome to try.
  20. A better 5 string bass for the money you will not find imo. In fact you could pay much more and do far worse. Will trade for a nice Tenor Uke if there is that slim chance out there Peter
  21. £300 including UK shipping....
  22. (Julian) Paul Brown is my friend.
