Thanks chaps, it's always been silent on any amp I have previously used, my soon to be sold (maybe) EA iAmp600 is silent when I mute to use it's built in sexy Sabine tuner!! Have had a second email from Marco which makes me think it might not be normal. He needs to speak to his tech guys today ( they must have already left by the time ge fit my mails - good of him to redoing right away rather than wait ) Any other Tonehammer users ??? It sounds absolutely fantastic in the house even at low volume, it's a big full proper bass sound btw which is why this is so annoying. We are looking at potentially the perfect lil amp !! I am doing a small local acoustic session tonight which I'm competing against 4 very strummy acoustic guitarists, never easy to cut through that at sensible volume, then proper 9 piece gigs over the weekend so I'll report back fully apart that. Just purchased an Aggie 500 tonehammer which I love. However the mute switch is extremely noisy when activated. It's a really loud click, so loud you'd never use it live, if at all thus making it useless. I emailed Aguilar and got a very quick response telling me this was normal as " it's the sound of the signal going to the output stage". I have queried this as I have never had a noisy mute on any amp before, and I'm pretty sure the one I tried in the shop had a quiet mute ( I was in an isolated booth and not on the shop floor so I would have noticed this I think. I have emailed Aggie again re-explaining the sound and my concerns, just incase I hadn't explained it clearly before. Any one else have this issue??? I'll keep you posted?? S

Anyone know of anywhere still doing this deal ??? I could be well up for it. S -
Buy my Basson B210b 500w 2x10 and you'll never need another cab !!! I used it with a Mesa Boogie 400+, not a quiet amp, and it handled it ( with a 5 string too ) no bother at all. Ask Ped if you don't believe me ! Stewart p.s. PM me if you want more details.....

New Mark Bass TTE500 and Alan Caron gear
bassbluestew replied to Grand Wazoo's topic in Amps and Cabs
I had a wee play on this head yesterday inn CC music in Glasgow. Played it through two traveller cabs - the 1x15 and 2x10. Wasnt using my own bass so any impression is obviously coloured by that....... First impressions were it was really good. It certainly looks the part as the valves glow nicely through the grill on the head. My only previous experience of all valve heads was my old Mesa 400 + which I loved but was a beast to move. This is an easy one hand lift. Not quite in the realms of fitting in the front pocket of your gigbag, but for a valve head it is incredibly light. All settings were left flat on the amp and bass. I only used the valve blend control ( cant remember what its actually called ) and boy was this good. It went from a really bright modern sound to a much warmer motown type sound - all by turning this little knob about half a turn. I cranked it up a bit - the bass department is in the basement so nicely insulated - and it sounded very, very good. I am holding out to try the new Aggie stuff, but this has certainly piqued my interest. A lot. Stewart -

I think I know Jeffs problem. In a recent interview I read he claims to travel the world with only his one Dean custom bass. He is obviously skint and can't afford a nice Fender custom shop Jaco thingy and he' in a great big cream puff !!! For the record I simply don't believe that a bass player would do world yours with only one bass - what happened if it broke / got lost / got stolen. ??? Why even Adam Clayton has 62 basses per show and he's not even a bass player !! The last bit was for comic effect only before I get flamed by U2 fans. S -
On my phone now, soon as I get back to a PC I'll get some more details. In the meantime I remember it's black 4 string with a black scratchplate, not sure of board. This is why I love BC, you guys CARE !!! S

Yup me too.................. Doesn't the guy from either Doves or Elbow ( always get them confused in my head ) play a r/h Pbass upside down and strung upside down too, i.e low E wher G should B ( see what I didi there.............................. ). And he sings. S

Was asked to join a Facebook group r.e. a poor guy having his Ray stolen in Edinburgh. Details are - Hi Guys, Ally - our lovely bassist from Homework has his Bass stolen in Edinburgh in the early hours of Saturday morning! The bass in question is an American Ernie Ball Music Man bass in black with a black scratch plate - similar to the one in the picture. The bass was in a softcase, also in the case were is Boss tuner pedal and his Russian Big Muff Pedal. needless to say Ally can't afford to replace these things and I reckon that Edinburgh is a small enough place that we can track this bass down. I would there for ask that you do him, and a HUGE FAVOUR by inviting your friends to join this group and help spread the word about the bass. Someone is going to try and sell this or rock up with it at a gig soon in or around Edinburgh and I reckon if enough people know he might just get it back. Your help is much appreciated. Thanking you kindly Rich So there we go chaps and chapesses, keep your eyes peeled. Who knows where it might show up. Stewart

Well done indeed, is there anyway we as Basschat can put our money where our sentiments are and make a group contribution ?? Be nice to get it nearer 10 grand. S

Well done Sam, very pleased for you sir. Arthritis is a major bitch, we should start an arthritis support group to encourage fellow suferrers. S
Nah, I have spent plenty and I'm really sh*t still
Now that IS a club I could join..........in fact I'd probbly get an honourary membership. Thank god luthiers don't audition their basses, the poor buggers sweat blood making these fab basses, then we - well me specifically - hack our way through dodgy covers in dodgy bands in horrible venues. I suppose the same could be said for any quality item............ Buying a Rolls Royce doesn't make you a great driver - just makes you feel like one, and isn't that REALLY the whole point ???? S
-
Seriously man, he ain't going to give you a free bass.
One lives in hope............................. AFAIK Ken doesn't do ANY free basses, and tbh, I'm not surprised, it's not like he needs to eh ?? In fact a lot of the top guys don't, and lets face it the top players ain't exactly broke, they get a good discount as far as I understand, but still pay. S

Agreed - very, very impressive, I've often thought my mum was a funny old bird, but not THAT funny. Ok, I'll do it.................. SO WHO IS YER MUM...........??? There, we can all now relax, I'm on tenterhooks though........and not just cause my new iPhones being delivered today. My money's on Jo Brand........this is better than Royal Ascot BTW please don't feel under any pressure to tell, it's just a bit of fun. S -
Would definitely like to try out one of the top of the range KS basses..........
Hey Pete, just missed you guys in Scotland, but next time your in Glasgow with Paddy - or anyone else for that matter - look me up and we'll hook up. S
QUOTE (chrismuzz @ Jun 16 2011, 12:21 AM) Ken Smith Ate My Hamster! You don't know how tempted I am to get that printed on a t-shirt.
Ha Ha Ha...........I bet Ken would love that too ( contrary to some opinion, he's really not had a sense of humour bypass ) .........go on Ped, there must be a Basschat Tshirt lurking somewhere that we could have that printed on the back and send it to him as a gift. S
I would definitely consider a Ken Smith…!
And you would love it dearly...........................have never played a Burner so no idea what they are like, but my BSR is the poodles plums. S

Gail Ann Dorsey for me every time. Don't know why but I don't want to like Carol Kaye.........every interview I have read she seems to want to trash JJ, or it could easily be I'm being oversensitive and reading it like that. But we don't want to open THAT pperticular can of worms again. Anyway GAD, is talented and IMO extremely hot, though I was told ( and it could be someone trying to calm me down ) that she drinks from the furry cup. Her first solo album is magical, nice voice too. S

Mr Kick Ass - love you long time !!!!!

I want to add here that Ken has taken the time and effort to contact me privately which I really appreciate and hopefully we'll have a happy ending. I was going to keep this info private, as it's a private matter between Ken and I but I feel that in the interest of balance and fairness it should be made public. I hope that's ok with you Ken. S
