Well I hadn’t foreseen this. Just went to restring my newly acquired Mustang and the E, A & D strings all taper before the nut. I hadn’t thought it would be an issue, but I guess it’s due to the string thru bridge. That’s never an issue when stringing a long scale bass though. Strings are D’Addario 50-105 EXL160S nickel rounds. How would anyone possibly know when ordering that they aren’t exactly suitable if you have a short scale string thru bass?!

I’m guessing / hoping it won’t be an issue when playing, it just looks really odd. What nickel rounds fit a string thru shorty well from peoples’ experience, or would going to medium scale strings help? Thanks

Did you use Short Scale strings? You'll need Medium Scale for a Mustang with thru body stringing, that will sort it out

Having sold my baby stingray, and my Electra VS I'm sat here waiting for my Sandberg California II VS4 Lionel to be delivered by ParcelForce

You will not be disappointed, if you have bought blind and never played one, you are in for a treat!! Punchy, articulate, very resonant and sound great ... ENJOY

there's a couple knocking around on here @Osiris has one as well

  3. Anyone else have  / had an issue with the knobs breaking on their RH450 / 750 Amp? The plastic used in manufacture at the time, maybe still? becomes brittle

and easily breaks after some time. TC used to replace the knobs and buttons but now they seem to have shirked that responsibility, so you are left with trying to

source them yourself or replace them with another type. I remember Hercules had an issue with their plastic becoming sticky on their stands and even now they

will still (with a bit of pushing) replace the part for free. Shame on you TC very poor of them !!

BTW If anyone has 2 or three spare knob drop me a message please

I think that’s one of the reasons I like it -  that it doesn’t feel THAT different from a regular 34”.

That's why Mart has my Fallout now, yes it felt much like a 34" scale as the bridge is set forward. sounded ace but much preferred my JMJ Mustang, EBMM Stingray and Sandberg Lionel Shorties

I really do like the look of the 4 banger but I suspect that other than switching the distortion or fuzz on as a party piece I'd never use it in a gig scenario.  So I guess all the extra spend would be wasted on me.....Starry Night though....

Same .... but Ooooofffff Starry Night !!

Is there such a thing as a Mustang that doesn't have neck dive?

Almost every review I've read / watched seems to mention it.

I'm wondering if I should just keep saving up for a Lionel.

Deffo keep saving for a Lionel or keep an eye out for a used one, you will NOT regret it ! I love mine thanks to @scrumpymike

@Osirisalso has one and will maybe chip in with some wise words

I also have a JMJ Mustang and have no issues with neck dive at all, lack of arm contour is my only slight gripe I guess

I don't like tort at the best of times,  but binding and inlays? What possessed them?

Hopefully this won't become a fashion or I'll have to give up playing altogether in order to avoid ever coming into contact with one.

    Yep makes my eyes bleed
