In the interim, try and pick up an alder bodied Lionel they come in at 7.5lbs (I’ve had my hands on 4 and they’ve all been about that weight). The gloss finished and aged models are alder. The satin finished with visible grain are ash and about a pound heavier.

Totally agree with Mart, I have a alder body from their Greenline range at 7.5lbs and it’s noticeably lighter than my ash body

Is that an actual Sandberg one or another make?

It’s a Hipshot BT7 on the Ida bass

Sandberg told me to install a D tuner it requires drilling extra holes. The BT7 resembles our design the closest

Bass Direct said Sandberg tuners are a specific size and Hipshot don't offer a direct replacement. The Ida Nielsen bass from Sandberg uses an extender and its a BT7

  4. Fender JMJ Mustang Bass I’m not sure it needs any introduction, these basses are legendary in bass playing circles

I don’t think it’s taken on any additional relics, resonant and plays like a workhorse bass !

    £900 Collected Oakham LE15 6NP

  5. Selling my lovely Mikey Way Mustang in immaculate condition don’t think there is a mark on it, no neck pocket cracks, no dings, nowt!

It’s fitted with an EMG 35HZ pickup, no modifications were necessary and now has a great pickup and new large pots and wiring, all of the original little pots, pickup and knobs will come with it so could easily be returned to stock (but why the heck would you!!)

It now sounds great, the humbucker is now clear and punchy compared to the very wooly original.

Even unplugged the bass is resonant and plays really nicely

It is now a very usable and gigable bass and looks as cool as fcuk !! The large sparkle is drop dead gorgeous especially under lights

  6. The Performer is a great well made quality bass and plays very well although the addition of the Jazz pup gives a bit more tonal flexibility just looks odd as I added a solid Jazz pup cover and in my opinion works better aesthetically … cracking bit of kit but sort of do agree it’s a bit polite …

  7. I’m just keeping it simple, Two Notes Le Bass (back up if my amp pops or fancy a bit more grunt) TC Corona Chorus Mini (when I need to get my Duff on) Shure GLXD16+ (best wireless I’ve owned, not a single drop out ever even on large stages) all powered by a Truetone 1 Spot CS6 ….

  8. Certainly worth looking at the Darkglass Microtubes 500 and 900 amps, they have the B3K and Vintage distortions built in with the ability to blend the clean and distorted tones. They do other combinations of amp and distortion too

  9. Tonex modelling pedal in excellent as new condition, boxed with power supply, data cable and AmpliTube 5, Tonex MAX software

Download hundreds of Amp, Cab & FX captures as well as AmpliTube presets

Amazing pedal it just exceeds my needs

It will be de registered etc ready for transfer

  10. I have a Microtubes 900v2 and it has bags of clean headroom on tap with the distortion engine turned off, compression is great too. You can tickle in a small amount of distortion in if you want to liven up your tone with the drive & blend knobs. I’ve found it very good so far and not struggled to tame the overdrive / distortion

From reading here, it seems a few have changed pickups. Surely changing the pickups speaks volumes about the build quality and value of Sandberg versus other Fender shaped basses?

In what way do you mean?

I put an EMG GZR in my Lionel and now it's my No.1 bass, the stock pup wasn't bad at all just not tone I wanted. I'd happily have another they are superb!
