  1. But back to the tone, over and above the skill of the player, isn’t the key determinant of the tone in the film the mix and production as opposed to the bass or live EQ?
  2. Fair point, although Fenderbirds and Buzzards didn’t design themselves 😆
  3. I wasn’t saying they’re intelligent, quite the opposite really given it seems they’ve knowingly chosen a crude catch-all method when something more subtle was required
  4. Exactly, I prefer the look on Keith Moon’s face that indicated he had 0.1ms to decide which drum to hit next and was still struggling to (the Ox on the other hand, despite his brilliance, would have fitted the current aesthetic perfectly, although I suspect that rather than wondering what’s for supper during gigs he was contemplating new bass gear)
  5. That’s just the current performance aesthetic, and I’m a bit over it to be honest. I like watching - and performing with -musicians on the edge, emoting over every nuance. Half that lot look like they’re wondering what’s for supper 😁
  6. This ^ Life's too short not to give it a go. At least you're eyes wide open 👍
  7. When I said they know what they’re doing, that’s exactly what I meant, they have no idea about effective regulatory policy in this space so are doing this simply to be seen to be doing something
  8. I mean they know that it is unworkable but don’t care. 30 or 40 years ago they would have cared more about the effectiveness of policy. OK they may not have got it right, but there was a degree of good faith even in contentious policy. Now it’s policy for sake of appearance
  9. The politicians aren’t the idiots, they know exactly what they’re doing and how (in)effective it will be. We’re the idiots for allowing them to.
  10. So it’s placebo legislation and they know it is?
  11. Music is a whole not parts. There’s lots of talent in that room and lots of good parts, but the music doesn’t work for me
  12. It all feels extremely dystopian, can someone explain in simple terms the rationale for the legislation?
  13. I guess the tech is amazing, but f*** me the arrangements and 'performances' most certainly are not. I'm guessing that like pitch correction, which at first was hard to detect but after a while you can just hear it, we'll get a feel for this sort of thing also
  14. 2024 was by far my most difficult year to date for a long list of personal, professional, and emotional reasons. It makes me even more determined to value and enjoy all life has to offer in 2025 🙏
  15. Totally agree Lawrie, thanks mate 🙏
  16. If it doesm't it'll save me a bloody fortune and give me around 2 weeks a year back 🤫
  17. @KiOgon
  18. PS, a little know fact: I once audItioned for U2 🤫
  19. I’m expecting something special bass-wise at Dover 👍😆
  20. Ha ha, it got under your skin after all Sometimes, you just gotta go on stage and make a statement, my old blue sparkle Modulus Flea being a great example, not a bass for all gigs, but at the right gig there's nothing like pulling out something special 👍
  21. Once you've seen it you can't unsee it 😆
  22. I guess a lot of this comes down to what the OP sees as compact, not sure all the suggestions would meet my definition 🙂
  23. Fender A/E, job done 👍
  24. Mesa Subway 15? Yes, probably 👍
  25. Likewise, well done and thanks for posting 🙏
