  1. Stunning top. What is the wood?
  2. Top has been matched and sanded. Looking better than I could have hoped for.
  3. Have selected the top for the bass. Will look good with a gloss finish! Ignore the markings on it at the moment...
  4. As mentioned in my introduction post, my return to bass playing is coinciding with the purchase of one of my dream instruments. Have been in discussion with Jon and have pretty much finalised the specs for the instrument and excited to get the project started. The project will start in earnest at the end of January but created this diary to show the progress of construction and my return to the low end. 5. I haven't asked when it will be completed. Here for another 4 months so doubt it will be finished by the time Im home. The Falklands are beautiful, enjoying it down here. There is one live band, but occasionally just go an jam in the music room. Looking forward to getting back into playing properly on my return. Need to decide on an amp next as well... Miss my old Mesa Walkabout Scout.
  6. Hi guys, Used to hang around here a while ago and after having missed bass playing for so long I have decided to concentrate on getting back into it. Played for about 4 years then ended up having to sell my basses due to needing money post-uni. Finally settled into my career and had always planned to start again once I could reasonably afford to. I figured I may as well start big and invest to get back into it. Currently out in the Falklands, and have commissioned Jon Shuker to make me a 5-string Buckeye Singlecut with Nordstrand Fatstacks. Has been my dream bass for as long as I can remember. Looking forward to getting back into playing. Not back from the Falklands for another 4 months so messing around with the music clubs equipment until then! Rich
  7. In Lincoln at the moment. Im afraid Im not looking for trades. Bought my dream guitar so its the only one I use now.
  8. I have decided I dont use this enough to justify keeping it so I am putting it up for sale. Black Fender American Special Strat with HSS pickups. Black on black with rosewood board. Plays nicely and comes with gig bag/all parts... Trem etc... Only had it 4 months and not left the room. After £450 ono includes shipping.
  9. SOLD
  10. Am away for the next 4 days on exercise so apolgies if I don't respond to PMs. Regards, Rich.
  11. Figured I may as well get serious about it and take the plunge while I can. Looking at an Elrick Platinum Singlecut 5str.
  12. I am currently located near Bedford if people want to try before they buy and would also be open to offers. Not really looking for a trade as after a specific bass but you could always tempt me. Would be willing to meet half way to deliver if distance is reasonable as well.
  13. Recently purchased to get back into bass playing and now got my eye on a rather lovely bass so this needs to go. Bought for £600 so would like to get as close to that as possible ONO + shipping. s/n A039197 Scratchplate has been drilled for cover and hook rest (the one where you play with your thumb), and one very very minor ding on top of body. About 1mm big and not noticable unless under micro examination. Maple neck with block inlays 3-tone sunburst Any questions or futher pictures required please ask. Rich
  14. Me at the moment. Apologies for size/quality. [attachment=71670:Picture_1.jpg]
  15. It was indeed the Ltd Ed Buttercream HH Ray Nice bass I just didn't get on with Stingrays.
  16. The last bass is a 5string Moon bass I bought from eubassix years ago.
  17. Mesa Walkabout Scout... used to have one and loved it. Lightweight and sounds damn good.
  18. Cheers guys, I thought it seemed quite reasonable, despite not really having much of a grip on gear prices these days. The neck does have a slight flame to it, will try and take some better photos some time. Need to lower the action on it slightly and its ready to go. Already played for 3 hours today
  19. Following on from my intro post, it is definitely good to be back. Posting pics of my new bass, which is as stated in the thread title. Picked it up for about 600 which I think is reasonable.
  20. My old Zon... would quite like it back at some point. Sold it someone on the old forum. Was a beautiful bass. Zon Sonus Custom 4 with a 5A top.
  21. Hi all, Used to hang around here when it was still bassworld.co.uk. Bought myself a bass again after far too long an absence so will be hanging around once again. Managed to grab an 85/86 MIJ Fender Jazz for 600quid, burst with maple neck, block bindings. Will post pictures when I pick it up next weekend. Looking forward to GASing all over again :/ Rich. --- Thought I'd add some of my old basses... they may be floating around the forum members still.
  22. How much would you be after for the Zon? I think its my old bass I got from here and then sold on here years ago
