  1. received_642658321186921.mp4 It did get busier later on! Mainland Britain's most northerly gig on 23/12/23
  2. That's a super sexy bass. Love it
  3. Spot on recommendation. My order is now in progress with Steve. Much appreciated !
  4. Yes, I have. The optimist in me hopes no one will be silly enough to fall for it, but you never know
  5. My two Fenders are, I guess Bitsa's: Jazz: Fender 2008 Jazz body with genuine Fender 2015 Jazz neck. Tonerider pickups and pots Precision: Northwest ash body with genuine Fender 2005 Precision neck. EMG pickups and various pieces of hardware At what point does a Fender, for example, stop being a Fender? At the end of the day, I guess it doesn't really matter to anyone, unless I was to try to sell them and be unclear about their history. As I've no intention of moving them on, it's all rather moot..
  6. Have one of these for sale in Northern Scotland. Works fine, I just never use it. No leads included. Happy to post to UK address. Cheers, George
  7. Kinda like this "2006 USA Fender Jazz" for sale on Facebook right now for about £500. With incorrect decal, non registered serial number, truss rod hole and block inlays. The body is not right either.
  8. Yeah, I'm pleased with this tort guard that I just added. Probably the 4 or 5th colour this bass has had.
  9. You're right. I'll see if I can delete this now. Thanks
  10. I'm looking to get a replica pickguard made for an old cheap Jazz I bought a few years back. Originally the pickguard was white, but I vinyl coated it with matt gold wrap. I'm really happy with the colour, but hate how the vinyl feels when I touch it. Question: does anyone know where I could sent this pickguard to have a replica built in gold? It's a very unique bass that I can find very little details about, so locating any parts is pretty much impossible. Cheers, George
  11. They did yes. The Hof sounded huge and thuddy. Totally the right choice I'd say
  12. Thanks all, I ended up going with the Hofner. It just felt right when I tried it out this afternoon.
  13. Oh yeah, Not my kinda music, but it just screams mid 70's American country
  14. It actually has the purest sound out of them all after fitting Toneriders and 250k pots and oil cap.
  15. Probably the FG Ric with this shirt..
  16. A nice problem to have I guess.. We have a 1/2 hour slot tonight at a local charity gig, and I'm really struggling to choose a bass to play. *I'll be plugging direct into the PA. *We've keys, drums and the guitarist uses a Strat *There's a mix of 70's rock and slower stuff *Choices are: MIA Precision / MIA Jazz / Ric 4003 / Vintage Hofner 500/1. I like them all in equal measure. I do wonder if a Fender might be better as I'll be coming through the PA? Cheers. It's maybe a silly question, but I'd like to get the sound just right.
  17. 23' FG 4003. It's always a challenging choice choosing this or the P bass for gigs
  18. I've sent you a PM. I might have a few lying around
  19. Brass knobs indeed. Can't remember where I got them from
  20. Thanks man. It's actually wearing a vintage white guard atm..
  21. Exactly this. I've a P and a few J's, but added a Ric this summer ( after selling one a few months prior believing I didn't need one). Like you, and value aside, I'd keep the P over anything.
  22. Mine is an absolute keeper. I couldn't be without it
  23. It's a funny one, As I progress through this journey of playing and learning, I realise that I simply do not need 6 bass guitars. Two instruments I thought I'd never sell, a Vintage Hofner and an AM Jazz, are potentially going up for sale as they just don't get any air time. My question: If you previously had an extensive collection, what made you decide to whittle it down to a few less, and what instruments did you keep?
  24. The Friends song: "When it hasn't been your day, you weep the most. Even your ears" It made total sense to me for ages. Like, you're so sad that that even your ears are crying
  25. I'm perfectly happy with my lot at present, and have gotten rid of what I don't want. The ones that I've modded are where I need them to be, so I'm just going to play them. Still a few wee bits to sell, but that's all the trading I'll be doing for a good while
