Gary Willis put his mind and hand in to ramps for other players for easier and more stable playing. His ability to play so unique could be made with or without ramps, but let's not continue this stinky slime. I already understood that all you know about Gary Willis is one youtube video, where he shows how to properly set up ramp on his gwb1005. Dream on !

I can only say, that i learned it from it it's original recording where fretless bass did a lot of simple but beautiful solos.

Explain that unique way. Gary Willis also plays the bass in his own superb way.

There was a situation, when i joined a very popular band here in Latvia, who didn't exist allready a few years ago and the vocal was different, but the other band members where the same. We played some rehearsals and all was ok. Then we came to make a cover for EC-tears in heaven. I allready knew this song and perfectly knew the bass small solo lines in this song. When we tried it, the drummer went crazy and told me to play easy small low parts instead. I said him that, without these solo bass lines the song will loose it's uniqeness. He started to told me about the way EC played this song Phil Collins. I insisted that the song must be played in it's original way, but he just couldn't do that. And finally it all ended at this point. They told me that they don't want to play with me anymore. Was i wrong???

I think there is no nr. one bassit existing. If You will make a top 100 of them - everybody has it's own unique technique and style. Let's say who is better - Gary willis or Marcus Miller - impossible. Their music differs so much and all of my respect to each of them.

In my way, i have played and play a lot of "not call them bands", because it's like money band where sometimes bass and drum is needed and there are huge of songs. I have played them a lot of times, but don't remember fully, so i got a lot of paper, writen down the set of each song genre, time, chords and unison notes. As to the band where we play own songs, there is a BL - vocal who always pulls the thriger and there are are no questions from others anymore.

Let's cool down. I didn't say "Blue" is bad, i just wished them luck now and in the future. Peace !!!!

This is for real, i really call myself for a fool in this compression thread, because i wrote before i almost didn't know what i wrote for. Anyway - this thread is not for me, i will not match up here a lot anymore.

I am more thinking in general and recorded a lot, but without compression. Any way, i don't say i hate it, but studied in net - what it does - it's not for me. Also i had tried a cheep, primitive Nux compressor and didn't feel it's for me.

For those who thought bad and silly for my compression discuss - agree and let You think i was wrong and you where right. Now i let some hours at internet to know what compression really does. Yes - I was a big fool, but finally would say that compression is not for me. I hope this will end those attack coments.

Many of You puts the compression as a superb pedal, but can't explain the goods of it. Anyway it goes to the way that you like it, but don't exactly know the goods/bads of it.
