@Doctor J @Beedster Apparently the last owner changed the original pickguard but didn’t move the neck pickup at all (he’s sending it to me) - there’s only one set of holes in there. The original pickguard will confirm when it drops through the letter box
I think it’s the bridge pickup rout that’s not been done exactly where it should be and if so, there’s little to be done to remedy
@PaulThePlug - you make a fair point. I paid £750 which although not overboard should warrant a bass with everything in a straight line. If I end up paying £600 or £650 then maybe the niggle will fade. Dunno, jury is out

So I picked up a reasonably priced !996 USA Fender Jazz
Good condition, lovely colour, nice neck, low action, plays nice. It has string through body bridge.
But... I could see the pole pieces weren’t lining up right and after a bit of fettling it’s clear that the bridge pickup (specifically the rout for the pickup) is not quite where it should be.
I do have the option to send it back to the seller who I think is a genuine guy who just never noticed or worried about it.
But I do like the bass, my worry is that I won’t recover my outlay if I sell as I would feel compelled to disclose the issue.
So advice would be welcome on whether I should send it back or keep it. And also what does the issue do to the value as I might see if the guy will renegotiate and do a part refund.
Pics below with a steel rule against the pickups showing how much ‘out’ it is
Thanks in advance

Hey Mike, just checking, are the dots where the frets would be (I think this is the case on an Allparts fretless neck), or between where the frets would be as they would be on a fretted neck?
The former - put your finger where the dot is and you hit the note 😊

Hi Mike,
A few questions on this:
What are the markers on the side for this - as for a fretted bass, dots at the 3,5,7,9, 12 etc fret positions, something else?
How's the truss rod?
What's the nut width and neck shape?
Any fingerboard wear? Hard to see from the pictures...
Can you confirm no twists, humps, ski-jump issues?
List in haste, respond later 😊
White dot markers at positions 3,5,7,9,12,15,17,19
Truss rod adjusts ok, no significant fingerboard wear, you can see the string lanes but there’s no indentations. Certainly no nasties.
Nut width is 38mm and it’s a nice slim C profile.

I’m probably a little more simplistic in my approach, I learn the songs I want to play then I play them. It’s probably why I’m not as good on the bass as I should be, but I can play what I need to do I’ll settle for that.
Ditto for me.

Barefaced Super 12 in very good condition, no blemishes on the finish. There are just a couple of scrapes on the metal bottom corners but that's their job
Only selling as I had chance to get a Big Twin and had no resistance to the temptation
Comes with a fitted cover, not a thick padded one but it does the job
Great sounding cab , super light and super loud.
Looking for £600 trade value or £550 straight sale price
Cash sale preferred but I would consider a nice lightweight Jazz bass with cash either way (but no sunbursts please)
Would prefer collection from Wakefield or maybe meet somewhere halfway depending on distance

Lakland Darryl Jones jazz neck.
Recently bought for a bitsa project but not quite right for the 4 bolt body I’m using cos of the contour
So just to clarify, this won’t be an exact fit for a standard fender neck pocket - see the last but one picture below. It’s also a tight fit in my MIJ fender neck pocket
Good used condition, frets are in good shape, truss working fine. Has a few scrapes on headstock and at one time was fitted to standard after market body so has additional screw holes in the heel but these can easily be filled.
£150 plus postage

Not sure if the DJ will fit this though - die they normally have a five-bolt plate?
No, build is another Lakland but it’s with Jon currently and he’s mega busy.
Correct but hopefully a bit of fettling will see it right, it'll make a nice bitsa !

Is that the one with the black headstock? By the time I saw it, it had sold.
Yep, that was the one. I saw the ad very quickly and jumped on it. I had a maple boarded DJ4 some time back and regretted selling it as the neck was so good. I've a MIJ 62 body that I'll probably but in on for a bitsa.
I assume your new build is a Shuker ?

Thanks, it is indeed. Tempting to keep it but if I keep a jazz, I want blocks and binding. (Wondering if I could just get Lakland to make another neck to fit.)
Looks nice. There was a Lakland DJ4 neck on a facebook group earlier this week but I snagged it myself. Debating what to do with it still

Nice easy trade with Paul, great comms., equidistant meet up.

Tokai JB45 in candy apple red with matching headstock and neck which I believe dates back to 1983/84
To the best of my knowledge it is all original and even comes with the Tokai gigbag (albeit with a hole in the bottom !
Conditional is remarkable for an instrument of this age. I can only see 2 tiny marks on the body and have tried to show these in photos
It’s strung with a new set of Ernie Ball coated 45 - 105 roundwounds and was recently set up by Beej Guitars in Leeds
Bass weighs in at 9 lbs 6oz
Currently collection from Wakefield only or I can meet you within a reasonable distance.
Trade value is £575 - cash price now £495
straight sale is preferred to put towards a Dingwall but I might look at trading for another Jazz like a MIJ 62 reissue or a Limelight with cash adjustment

Great little amplifier in good condition now surplus to requirements. Very portable with six bass amp models, on board compression, 3 band EQ and five digital effects.
£90 collection from Wakefield, West Yorkshire- 1

Selling my Aguilar DB750 as I've seen a bass I want to buy and something has to give ! - I'll probably withdraw it if that bass sells before this does.
It's a UK model 230v model and comes in a well worn but functional Aguilar 3u rack bag which does its job !
The valves were replaced at the beginning of the year (Tung Sols 12AX7's and a Electro Harmonix 12AU7)
Looking for £1000 and would prefer collection or Covid safe meet up within an hour or 2 from West YorkshireI’ll also look at trades (trade value £1100) for a smaller amp or a nice 4 string bass or a barefaced super compact with a lump of cash my way

I see these are £399 new on Andertons. I don't have the cash either way, but you may want to drop the price a little bit
Thanks - will take a look. I just went from the last price on here and hadn’t realised they had dropped a little
Will ad a pic tonight

This is a brand new unit - unopened
My own unit went in for a repair back in Feb and Line 6 have replaced it with a brand new one
I bought another one as I had so much time on my hands during lockdown and hence the chance to learn how to use it.
Price of £360 includes UK postage
I'm away for 10 days or so from today but will take it with me so I can post it locally if required
Will also advertise it elsewhere
