  1. He has a lovely tone. Hearing that was enough to have me taking out my active jazz bass yesterday. I love the jazz tone but the active preamp (currently a 3 Leaf Anima rather than the stock Fender preamp) allows for a lot more exploration and nuance and puts it into similar territory to the Marcus Miller bass in the video (or, unexpectedly, StingRay territory).
  2. I ordered mine (matcha green rather than ash) from Andertons. It wasn't on the website so they did it via special order. It took a while but all worked out well.
  3. Showing the YouTube algorithm works: a video of multiple basses, almost half of which are signature basses:
  4. Another vote for the Dingwall NG transcending the artist. It’s certainly found a niche but I don’t think being Nolly Getgood’s bass is its defining feature. I quite like signature basses though. I think I’m right in saying I have four and the NG3 is the only one where the artist didn’t play a real role (compared with Geddy Lee and Jaco jazzes and a Tim Commerford StingRay).
  5. I got an email from IdiotBox Effects at the end of last week saying that the bass-specific Star Wars mystery pedal I ordered a while back should be ready in the next couple of weeks. Once that’s arrived I’ll see what size it is and then the plan is to put that board together.
  6. Thanks for the kind words @jimbobothy, always a gentleman (and great to chat to about pedals). Thank you too for the help on the Cog front. I only have one on these boards at the minute as some are being saved for something else. Haha, true. I’m not sure I’ve played an Aguilar pedal, in fact. Probably best not to go near another brand rabbit holes.
  7. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
  8. This is wider than you’re aiming for but it feels close to square when the pedals are on: https://www.rockboard.de/en/pedalboards/quad-41/
  9. I recently bought a Cog pedal from Verb. That alone would have been enough for me to be delighted. It also happens though that Verb’s nice to chat with, knows his pedals and was quick and courteous. Great stuff!
  10. Haha, please don’t! My shoulder’s still got a couple of months to recover and I need to do something bass-related with my time! That’s the plan at least.
  11. Oh that's interesting; I've only really used these boards but I think I would find the upper row being lower down a bit too shallow to operate easily. I like the patchbays too so whatever gives them room to work is fine by me! Here's a picture to gauge depth: Thank you very much on both counts! Thanks very much. That's high praise coming from you too! Your boards are always amazing. It's taken me years to get some of the pedals, particularly the Iron Ether ones. Thanks to @Gwilym for helping me out on those and thanks to @Bunion @GisserD and @Brian45 on the 3 Leaf/Pike front. This is a great pedal community and that is terrible for my pedal GAS. Thanks all! I have one more 4.3 board sat idle at the moment so this may well not be the last pedalboard post.
  12. That’s a good point. I’ve been trying to use top input jacks for each pedal and I think there’s only a half dozen amongst those that aren’t.
  13. They're all Rockboards. In the bottom picture, the two big boards at the top are Rockboard 4.3s, I think, the Broughton and IE boards are 4.1s, the 3 Leaf and EAE boards are 2.2s and the Noble one is either a 2.1 or 2.0. I really like them for routing options, they fit power boards easily and they're sturdy. The only thing I dislike is that the size up (so extra space at the top/bottom) doesn't really assist if you have top-jack pedals because of where the gaps are for wires. I'm not sure I want to go for three rows though! I've got on more 4.3 board sat here, power connected but waiting for pedals. I have a couple of plans but they may take a while to do, so I though I'd share these pictures now.
  14. If there was any doubt whether I am a pedal obsessive it's been dispelled since I suffered a shoulder injury. I've played less bass so I found a different bass-related outlet: building boards! I recently put together a European board using excellent versions of each type of pedal I play using only European manufacturers, and using each manufacturer no more than once. The board, power supplies and cables are European too. I think only the velcro isn't (I went for American dual lock instead of Swiss velcro). I've been meaning to put together the European board since August but was waiting on a particular pedal. Ultimately I gave up (and it shipped today!!). In the meantime I put together other themed boards by manufacturer (Broughton, Iron Ether, Caveman, Noble and Cali76 (it may as well be one brand!), EAE and 3 Leaf): Here's a photo of all of the assembled boards (save that the BC1 is being used on the European board so that Caveman board has disappeared):
  15. Recently sold a pedal to @Ander87. Lovely guy, a breeze of a transaction and excellent pedal chat!
  16. Bought a Darkglass ADAM back from @ambient. Great transaction, transparent and super speedy. Great stuff, thanks!
  17. Another successful purchase from @Brucegill, this time a power supply. Super speedy and nice guy.
  18. Amazing stuff! Loving the Tarkin (obviously). I’ve been wondering about the Opti-FETs too. I’ve only ever heard good things.
  19. Possibly one for @TrevorR who put together this brilliant resource: http://walbasshistory.blogspot.com/?m=1
  20. I’m hoping I’m finally about there. There’s the odd pedal I’d still love to try (T-70!) but I’ve been lucky enough to try most of what I wanted to. Messing about with pedals is my main hobby and I like pedals for pedals’ sake though so while I have a board I’m happy with, I just love how some pedals look or sound and I’ve kept those regardless of whether they get board usage. A Beat Buddy is a great idea and I don’t think Empress have ever made a bad pedal; they are the most represented maker on my practice board.
  21. JAM make some really lovely pedals. You can't go wrong with Moose or Jam I think, so good call.
  22. I may not be able to hear you under all of the boxes. I've recently put some pedals up on Reverb and have a few more to add. They will be going up at reduced prices here as soon as I can take a group photo of them.
  23. All of Moose's pedals I've tried (Dobsky, Nomad, Sundrive and Sledgehammer) have been great. If I recall correctly, the Sledgehammer is based on the Battlehammer, and that had input from Nick Williams of Dunwich Amps. Cian at Moose also kindly sprayed clearcoat over one of my pedals that was at risk of shedding lettering.
  24. Thanks. I spend an inordinate amount of time watching Poirot and like the Celebrity Pedals naming convention so I was glad to be able to think of something suitable to tie the two together. It's funny you say that. Given most of my pedals have been in boxes since the move I've started unpacking them and putting them on boards. I have a practice board, recording board and testing board, but I've recently put four themed boards together with one more to follow (hopefully next week). I'll put photos up on the board thread if all goes well. I then have one more set of boards planned as a kind of big hurrah before finally downscaling to something approaching normal/acceptable levels so my fiancee and I can live in a house rather than a pedal fort. Haha, thanks. I'll hold you to that.
  25. Haha, thanks. If I always did NPDs I would lay bare the state of my GAS and I don’t think I or the Effects thread is ready for that.
