1. No 47 virgins for you then mate...
2. why do all rock-a-billy songs start off with the word..... WEEEEeellllll.... ??
3. I f***ing love picking my nose. I'd say its almost my favourite pastime. If I stick my finger up there and there's an especially juicy specimen up there, I like to leave it up there and just fondle it occasionally. My missus pulled out a bogey the other day when I was driving and it had a hair through it which she proceeded to wave in front of my face. I was jealous as f***.
4. Traben or Spector basses do the job admirably. Monster tone from the Traben, real high output and great grinding sound. Spectors too, very versitle and comfortable to play - personally I prefer the neck on a Spector to an Ibanez SR505. Thats just me though.
5. Thats because the Spector Legend uses the Tone Pump Jr preamp which is basically just a treble and bass boost (no mid-range and no cut). Some people love 'em, some hate 'em. The more expensive Euros and USA NS basses use better electronics but cost a lot more.
6.
I was also wondering why bands always seem to be in London
Because its the greatest city on earth !
7. Rockbasses are seriously underrated basses. I had a Corvette that was simply brilliant. Had an MEC pre-amp and pickups. Presumably this is the same as used in the Warwicks. Had probably the nicest neck on a 5-string that I've ever played, small body, light and very comfortable to play. I may well be tempted when the new Rockbasses come out.
8.
Nice acoustic 301/370 in the back
Nice bass sound too... although thats typcial of a bass player's reaction to a vid like this.

10. How much was it? Price would normally be a good indicator of the model.
11. Try a Spector Legend, they're great basses.
12. I played through one of these recently at an open air gig. Great sound that really surprised me as I'm not a big fan of Ampeg but this thing is great for Rock / metal / thrash etc.
13.
I disagree. I spent a couple of hours setting mine up, and it plays like a dream, and handles as well as the Gibson T-Birds I have played, with the added advantage that I don't give a flying toss if I bump it during the gig, its the perfect hard gigging bass, and I want another one if its the right price. True, the pickups are a little uneven, couple of dead spots, but I'm using that particular bass for high energy NWOBHM, so it's all a bit academic really, and I'm slinging EMGs in it at some point. Having said that, do NOT buy a Thunderbird without trying it on a strap for at least 10 minutes (as testified by the number of "1 month old" T-birds on Ebay) loads of people bought them on a whim, then found they can't handle the position and the neck dive, despite the killer looks. PS: Yamahas are great but extremely unfashionable. Spector might be your best bet off that list especially if you want to keep good resale value.
Each to their own mate, and its down to personal taste at the end of the day. I would say that if you want a cheap(er) Thunderbird but much better quality than Epiphone and sounding just like the original then go for a Greco or Oville Thunderbird if you can. The Orvilles use Gibson pickups and sound just like the real thing. The neck dimensions are the same and it actually is identical to a Gibson in every way. The Greco is slightly different in that it has a two-piece brdige but sounds great.
14. Personally I'd go for the Spector - the Epiphone Thunderbird is just nasty. I've had a Gibson Thunderbird and an Epi and to be honest, apart from the shape, the two basses couldn't be more different. Different woods, different construction, different sounding pickups, different neck measurements, different weight etc. You can't go wrong with a Spector although having said that Yamaha do make nice basses.
15. DR HI-Beams or Lo-Riders definitely fit because I used them on mine when I had one.
16.

I like the little red car. Is that your usual mode of transport ?
17.
Musicman - Bongo meets your criteria and has one of the best EQ's ive ever used.
But they look like toilet seats
18. Word of advice mate, if you want to make it sound even better, change the valve out to a high quality Mullard or something like that. I've heard reports from guitarists that doing this makes it sound a whole lot better. I've got a Zoon G2 and its great for recording guitar parts. Zoom do good multi-FX units.
19.
Bit of a rant here. Trying to book up a bunch of gigs from September through till December. Only around 8 so not lots. Contacted lots of promotors who I know are looking for bands to play, are asking for bands on their webpage/myspace page to play or the venues direct who are asking for band. I contact them, gig them some background on the band, a link to our Myspace page but do any of them get back to you? Like hell they do. Total waste of time. Just finding it very hard to get gigs at the moment and very frustrating. Anyone else have problems with promotors/getting gigs?
The truth is a lot of bands - even established bands are finding it hard at the moment. Many promoters don't want to risk wasting money on acts that will not get them a return and to be fair, I don't blame them. Many of the promoters on the scene I'm involved with are cutting back on putting gigs on as they are losing money. The recession is hitting the live music scene at the moment, too many bands chasing too few an audience.
20. f***sticks! Yesterday I paid £22 for one set of 4 String Elites at the Bass Cellar in Denmark Street. I didn't see this thread and would have had the two off you. Oh well
21.
This is heavy. http://www.myspace.com/rifffilledland
Not bad, but if its heavy / doom / sabbath you want - this lot take some beating... http://www.myspace.com/downnola Lifer is a killer song.
22. Mate, I've just bought a Traben John Moyer with a Chaos bridge and the output and sound from the thing is incredible. Like a cross between a Spector and a MM Stingray on steroids. Well worth looking at if its metal you want to play.
23. Anyone know where you can buy these in the UK ? I haven't seen them on Ebay UK or even the Ebay US either
24.
Thanks mate, I'm open to any and all suggestions on that one.
How about you just give it to me for free..?
25. Reminds me a bit of early Killswitch Engage - only a lot shittier... f*** me, they're awful.
