1. I'd be happy with more detailed reviews - every time a bass is mentioned I want to know what the reviewer thinks and how it compares to other basses - and more transcriptions. Two per issue (of differing styles) would be nice.
 2.
You think I'm sweaty now, imagine me with a lace glove on, I'd be drowning by the end.
Hahahah. Ok, fair point.
It's punk raaawwwwkkkk, who give's a rats ass how the sweatband looks!
And I'll give you half a point for that one too. Can't concede defeat completely though - anyone in a sweatband reminds me of Mark Knopfler.
 3.
Serious competition from other publishers in this price range.
Like? I've made criticisms about BGM in other threads, but if it didn't exist, I wouldn't be buying any bass mag at all. The others I've seen have been much much worse. Still... I liked what you did there Silddx.
 4. Glad this is resolved but... Girls in sweatbands is not cool.

+1 Hawt!
 5. Everything. But then I have everything to learn. My current practice routines consist of Sight reading Ear interval training Transcribing Scales Arpeggios Playing cleanly with fingers Strumming (with a pick naturally) And a few songs here and there Edit: Forgot to list improvising over chord progressions
 6.

Please don't use the ALA as your guide (on anything). They're the linguistic equivalent of the Nazi party and have forgotten two basic principals of language and language use: 1. Form and function change. Deal with it. 2. The purpose of language is communication, not an elitist assessment of a person's intelligence. Back to the OP - we might we worse off than we were twenty years ago, but we're better off than we were ten years ago.
 7.
Your hands can do this. It just takes practice!
Oh god, even more things to practice?!?!?
 8. Hmm... so in about fifteen years time I'll be a virtuoso. Good stuff. Lol.
 9. Ok I turned off the Clash cover. Erm... not for me. But you can play girl! And I much enjoyed Rescue Me - even if it was wery wery qwiet.
 10.
The switch wouldn't have any effect as shown, but the track of the pot would always be in parallel with the input of the amp.
Sorry mate, I'm being a bit thick here. If I was using one terminal and the wiper from the pot (like a rheostat - is that what they're called?) and not grounding the other terminal, when the bypass is enabled, the pot wouldn't be part of a loop. Are you saying that still affect things though? I don't know if not grounding the second terminal would cause problems in itself mind. Just taking the opportunity to suck the information and knowledge out of you.
I don't have a scanner here so I can't draw any diagrams...I will tomorrow though if you like, PM me if I forget!
You're a gent.
 11.
That would constantly load the pickup whether or not it was switched on.
Ah. Can you elaborate a little? I'm not doubting your suggestions, just trying to learn a little more. I understand about loading the pickups - and it thinning the sound even when "bypassed" - but is this because of the resistance from the DPDT? In which case, don't A/B switches suffer the same problem? I'm assuming even something like a switching ic would cause the same issues?
 12. Not so hot on my electronics, but was wondering if this would work? I'm just after a wee device so that I can easily/consistantly adjust the volume going into the amp when I change from playing fingers to pick. Its for a reduction in volume when the switch is pressed, no amplification etc. Edit: Changed my mind and adjusted some stuff.
 13. Describe the sound. Come on... you can't tease us like this!
 14. I Alone - Live Actually, does it count as learning a bassline if you're just improvising over a chord sequence? Picked up a guitar fake book while grabbing a coffee this evening.
 15. Ah ok. Cheers mate, I'll have a look for those and give them a shot.
 16.
how about some bach?
I gave up classical piano years ago. Actually... joking aside and remembering I'm new to bass, I've seen Bach mentioned a few times for bassists. Why is this?
My drummer's an appalling timekeeper. He once turned up to the gig 2 hours after we'd started it.
Lol. Bm bm tsh!
 18. Off the top of my head, I can only think of one dutch band (Within Temptation) but as they rule, all their countrymen are cool in my book. So welcome to BassChat.
 19. Was always an Amiga man myself. Still have my A1200 (which now has a significantly dusty/yellow appearance).
 20. Cheers Urb, I'll give those a listen this evening - unfortunately, my inconsiderate employers don't realise that learning bass is the most important thing I could be doing with my time. To help ensure my music knowledge doesn't progress during work hours, they block videos.
 21. No problem. If you get one, let us know what's its like.
 22.
Some of its Jazz, but check out the playing and solo on his track Spin! Pure groove!
I feel nauseous. I don't think I'm pregnant so it must be the bloody jazz (jazzish?) on that MySpace page!?!?!?! Lol. I hate coming across so negative about something - I really do have quite an open mind, honest.
 23.
I suppose if you're not in a band, you have time to learn solos, flashy stuff etc.
Yeah exactly. Doesn't really matter if I don't use it much.
I think you like metal as do I . Apart from the usual names, You could try some Jason Newstead,Michael Anthony Geezer Butler etc. Randy Coven. Don't try Nikki Sixx techniques tho' or you could o d a lot
Yup - well remembered - I'm a metal fan. Michael Anthony the estate agent? Damn you Google!!!! Will take a listen to your suggestions - must admit, I don't think I've listened to the bands those guys played in since before I started bass. (Not that long ago). When I was a bit younger, we used to have a rule that if you didn't listen to at least one Black Sabbath track a month then you got a punch in the face. I'm glad that rule is no longer in effect, I'd look like tBBC by the end of it. Cheers.
 24. Cheers for the thoughts Bilbo. Must admit I'd never really thought about using the instruments you mentioned as a source of inspiration. I even neglected to think about piano despite spending a good amount of time playing it.
As for jazz, don't try to learn it. Its for real men who can grow facial hair.
My facial hair is legendary. But to play jazz you also need enough hair in your ears to muffle the sound.
Curiously whenever our bass player turns up so does our singer.
I can't decide if you meant that the bass player is the singer, or the bass player is knobbing the singer but trying to keep it quiet.
