Sunspots - Nine Inch Nails

I really like a Proco Rat for fuzz tones and just a high gain valve amp for a nice bit of drive. I've tried a few overdrive pedals and nothing seems to sound quite as good as a dirty amp. Having said that, I'm quite tempted by the Tech 21 Geddy Lee preamp.

Planets 1 & 2 - Vista Chino

Darkglass effects seem to suit a very specific metal sound. They're bloody awful if you're playing doom, death or even stuff like Megadeath & Metallica.

This morning I'm enjoying Rancid's masterpiece, And Out Come The Wolves. This has to be one of the all time greatest punk albums. Matt Freeman's bass throughout the album is absolutely superb.

I don't mind the headstock. I thought it sounded a bit weak but thinking about it now, I didn't change any amp settings between the Sire and my Stingray which has quite hot pickups. If I took the time to adjust the eq and gain etc I might have liked it more. To be honest, it could have been the best bass in the world and I'd still tell him it sucks

I tried our guitarists Sire P7 mk2 5 string and thought it's a nice bass for the price. Better made and equipped than the 5 string MM SUB 5 which was similarly priced.

After this morning vulfpeck sadness I moved on to something a little more simple with a riff heavier than a dead donkey and catchier than covid 19. A bit of Mastodon never disappoints and this song is a killer.

I agree. It's too clean and smooth. It could be robots playing.

These two pedals. The Two Notes Le Bass preamp and Origin Effects Cali76 compressor. The preamp is a two channel valve preamp with clean and dirty channels. The clean channel really is very clean, with a nice eq. The dirty channel sounds a bit thin but combining the two channels gives some monster tones. The compressor just does exactly what you want it to and high pass filter is really useful.

I tried listening to Vulfpeck again. Still don't get it.

Have you tried ditching him at a truck stop? It worked for Hawkwind and worked out best for everyone in the end.
