  1. Takes me back to summer season holiday camp gigs in the 80's.
  2. I think the only way to really combat it as old person is to completely change your daily behaviour and habits.. which isn't easy. ie for eg, Park as far from the shops as possible and carry heavy shopping. Get out of bed and literally yomp around the house like a crazy person swinging arms and stuff... yes its all crazy but I think it works....In a nutshell. Move more.
  3. I can testity that doing a festival on a stinky hot day with a bad chest infection is/was madness. Vid of me looking like a drowned rat I was sweating so much....But I did it for the band (said the hero)..haha. Shuffled off the stage, jumped straight in the car - home. But yes it definitely pays to keep fit and positive when there's a line of gigs on the horizon.
  4. Dont think Ive ever turned the master down once setup after sound chk. Seems an odd problem to have.
  5. Fom the very first day they started I thought this ....PMT? Really?. Anyone else ever thght the same? Marketing is a very powerful tool and if it dont look right or sound right it can have an adverse affect.
  6. This in spades. That criteria alone rules out for me the vast majority of players. Simply knowing the board inside out does not neccesarily make for good music. I love Nile Rodgers playing style and what he brought to popular music, but is he 'great guitarist' of course not but he is an extremely distinct and influential musician by the way he plays.
  7. Because shockingly it seems no-one on this partiucular site could care less. Brian Wilson along with Elvis, The Beatles, Motown etc and a few others from the dim and distant literally shaped the musical world we inhabit today. And whether you beleive it or not he's that important.
  8. Agree. I really dont think BC is the place to share ones thoughts about an event like this. Three comments? Extraordinary.
  9. The demise of the instrument store. I just think the traditional band, "electric guitar thing" in the main, is over. It only ever started because of the blues and R&R. The very two genres which in the minds of young people today are pretty much obsolete. I popped into PMT two years ago and it just seemed full of active pa and DJ kit, barely a guitar or bass in sight. Light years away from the, 'ye olde guitar shop' on the corner stuffed with 100 watt tweed front Marshalls, slinky Hiwatts and Orange bass bins etc. Sad really, online just isn't quite the same.
  10. Wonder if he's still going. Those gardens look awfully close together. Was it a success?....Noise issues? Curious.
  11. I had a nearly new Mocha P bass bk in 77. Those new pictures with the crazing, colour tone etc show the body and neck are prob legit but as we've already deduced the entire thing is a hack job. Pity. If its a nice weight then its prob a nice player.
  12. Thru body holes arent even in line... somebodys been at it with the dremel. Neck looks good but who knows and theres no-way to chk the bodies authenticity. Red flags everywhere, but if its a player, then for the right price.....
  13. Lots of great points. I think there are two aspects to this... the making music path and the education/admin/management path. Making music which is all I can really talk about, the killer for me was the hours and just the plain uncertainty of it all, but if its ur thing then go for it. I think entertainment is predominantly a night time/awkward time business, but you have to follow ur passions. Sounds like shes knows what she really wants which is half the battle really. Good luck.
  14. Here too. I could not beleive how unusual and ctachy it was even tho it didn't really go anywhere...It really took me aback and along with Starman kick started my interest in music and wanting to become a musician.
  15. Those brilliant early Mex RW P basses. They must surely have all been sold but you never see any. Tried one and should have bought it... it really was very nice.
  16. Roxy was never underrated. Everyone knew they were different, original, groundbreaking and just brilliant. I liked to think of them as Genesis's bubble gum sibling.
  17. Its the new normal and you cant argue with it... however great original well written music will always be there long after these Tube heroes are long gone. Last yr I seem to remember it was a young virtuoso called Charles that everyone was guffing about. Sadly I cant remember a single thing he did.
  18. In all the bands and outfits Ive played in Ive never known any drummer to release his wires between songs....Extraordinary what you learn on here.
  19. Old school blues rock and they were about as good as it got. Just superb... but bk then being women they were never going to take over the world... huge pity.
  20. Dont try and play with others immediately tho. Lock urself away in ur room and learn the fingerboard. A sure fire way to get enthused is to play along to ur fav tunes/bands.. in front of the mirror if you need to.. we've all done it, its grt fun and you learn pretty quick.
  21. Hamster weekly shut down?? and others? This is madness. How on earth are all these inoccuous little websites dangerous? I think there's going to be a groundswell of objection to all this and each site will be judged on whether or not it is dangerous to young people or not. Basschat as an eg ....dangerous? I think not.
  22. That looks like a minty fresh all original vintage P bass... why on earth would you want to mess with it. As soon as you de-solder it, its lost a ton of value.
  23. Two sets of chromes... must be getting on for 15 plus yrs. Sound glorious... nice and gnarly.
  24. I think that could be the one I meant, tho Ive played both and equally testy.. Its those beamed 16ths all over the place.. haha. Cheers.
  25. 'You To Me Are Everything' by the 'The Real Thing'. A testy little ditty if there ever was one. Remember one summer season.. Full band, horns, B/vox the works and they wanted the bass up high.....Some tunes really make you earn ur money.
