Does anyone know the spec of the speakers in Ashdown's ABM810? Ohms and watts. Thanks.

I have an Epiphone EB-0 which has a 30" scale. I'm after a soft case for it. Anyone got one they want to sell or can anyone recommend a supplier? I don't want a 34" scale bag - cause it would be a bit baggy and guitar cases look too small. Thanks.

Please report back on how you find them.[/quote] The TI flats sound great though the E and G strings have some of the string (beyond the silks) wound around the posts as you have pointed out they are for 32" scale. No problems though - nice tension.

At rehearsal last night I got a really strong burning electrical smell from one of my cabs. I haven't had any problems before. This is a homemade cab with a 300w 8ohm 12" Celestion in it. I have recently ported the cab which has increased the bass response. The speaker cable looked a bit flimsy when I took the back off today so I have replaced it with some seriously heavy duty cable (same stuff I use to link my Ashdown gear with). Any ideas what could have caused the burning smell?

You can tap some hardwood scraps and glue into the holes, clamp it up once it's dried and trimmed and pilot drill once you're completely happy with the set. What a difference! Fantastic. The only thing to do now is the neck pocket. Trouble is I'm getting high feedback so need to sort that out too. Maybe roll of the "valve" boost on the Ashdown - could it be an issue with the pickup? Any ideas?

The DiMarzio is a massive improvement on the Epi job, which is horrible. I changed the nasty strings for TI flats at the same time, so that would have contributed to the improvement also.

Its the height I've had to adjust the bridge to compensate for the shims I needed to put in the neck pocket to get the angle right (now my neck only has a tiny amount of relief and the action is good with no buzzes etc.) I just feel the whole lot could come down a bit. I want it flatter - its a feel thing.

If you have a Gibson EB, please can you measure the distance from the top surface of the finger board (near the bridge pickup) to the body. And the distance between the strings and the neck pickup. Really like playing at the Beer Cart great people there too - but that volume limiter sucks! Have a great time though (maybe just not as loud as you would like)

I can then lower the bridge. There is about a cm gap between strings and pole pieces at the moment - which seems too big to me.

I recently got a new Epi EB-0 with the intention of creating something along the lines of a Mike Watt EB3. It's going to take a few steps as I don't have loads of spare cash. However, I have now replaced the bridge with a Hipshot Supertone, the machine heads are now Schallers and the pickup is a Model One Dimarzio. Strings are TI flats. I have shimmed the neck slightly to create a better angle but the bridge and neck seem set too high so any ideas? Action is ok though, just want to bring it all nearer to the body (and pickup which is non adjustable). Here are some pics.... In the process of installing the Schallers. Massive improvement in quality! The only thing is the collets are a very slightly smaller diameter so I have carefully glued them in rather than rely on a compression fit. Should be ok though. Tomorrow I will fit machineheads once glue has set. I have heard that some of these EB -0s have ply bodies. I took the neck off and the body is defo mahogany - so no fears. There was a small shim of wood but I dont think it was sufficient so I need to shim the neck a bit more to get a better angle on the neck and set up. I have a DiMarzio Model One pup on its way so will fit that once it arrives - pics to follow...

Just by chance my wife had left the ironing board out. I needed to change the set up on one of my basses. Ironing board made a great set up table - right height and padded too. Marvelous. I might sell a load of ironing boards as guitar work benches (with suitable mark up)

Makes a huge difference to set up and just a much better quality lump. £50 well spent I'd say.

When my flats arrive later this week, I'm going to put them on my EB-0 and never change them! Then I'm going to overdrive some valves...... yum yum

I am doing a similar mod. So far I have sourced a Hipshot bridge which is a massive improvement and a direct replacement for EBs. Just in the process of getting some Schaller BML machine heads which again are direct replacements. Looking into pick ups. Have you found the flyguitars site (loads of info on EBs and Mike Watt)?
