1.
It optimises into a vented box of 107 litres, which is enormous for a 1x12. I'd personally put it in a box of about 55 litres tuned to 60 Hz, which gives an f3 of 57 Hz and a slight hump in the 70-150 Hz range for a bit of low mid punch. A
As long as the dimensions add up to 55 litres does it matter how wide / high / deep the cab is? Thanks
 2. I'm very happy with my Ashdown gear. I have an ABM900 head and 8x10 cab, which has never let me down and it all gets plenty of use. I use it for both live and recording and get loads of positive remarks about the sound. I don't mind the controls but then I've found my sound with this rig and generally leave the settings alone. Also the 1x15 will work fine in conjunction with the 4x10 - you won't get any wooliness there.
 3. I love this speaker! I have it in an old cab. Just wondered what the optimum cabinet dimensions were for this speaker. I'm thinking of getting another. Thanks
 4. I have an old GK MB150 combo and its great. I often use an 8ohm extension cab with it to use the extra little bit of power. Is it possible to just put in a 4ohm speaker and not use an extension cab?
 5.
All the skinny is here (including pics of it installed on my Epi EB-3 which I returned to stock and sold): http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=17555 I'd be looking for £50 for it - I've spied them for £75 (+VAT if you get caught) on eBay from the States and Hipshot direct want $120 + postage (£87). It'll come with all the accessories (mounting bolts, allen keys). PM me if you're up for it.
PM sent
 6.
I'm after one of those. The only disappointing thing is it's a bolt on neck, whereas the long scale Epi Eb3 is set. Still, for 140 notes you can't grumble really. Keep us posted vis-a-vis the Mike W type mods.
Will do.
 7.
They're nae too bad. I had one for a while, but in the end it had to go because it just wasn't putting me up or down. BTW: if you're pimping your one, I have a Hipshot Supertone bridge for sale. Meaty bridge which is so much better than the stock 3 point effort. Shameless plug over
Got a picture? Is it a straight forward swap? How much do you want for it? Thanks.
 8. An Epiphone EB 0 arrived today. Cost £140 all in. Now I'm used to playing some pretty decent basses (I have a very nice Ric 4001 and have owned a top end Warwick and a '73 Fender P etc). I'm well impressed! I was after a short scale bass as I'm after a different sound to my Ric. Build quality seems pretty damn good for a budget bass - no nasty suprises and I think it might actually be made of Mahogany like the info says (I took the liberty of removing some bits to make sure - doesn't seem to be any plywood). I've been doing some homework and will modify this bass with two Bartolini pickups and a pre wired loom / pots and preamp (with a blend control) similar to Mike Watt's EB 3. Can't wait...
 9. Has anyone here done the EB 0 to EB 3 mod? There are some bits I need to source (pick up / pick guard etc) I am going to use this http://www.bestbassgear.com/aguilar-obp3-preamp.htm for the electrics (just like Mike Watt)
 10.
I have just paid for an Epiphone EB 0 short scale bass and expect deliver sooooooooon..... I got it 'cause I want to try and recreate a version of Mike Watt's EB 3. Details here http://www.flyguitars.com/interviews/mikewatt3.php "With EB-3's, maybe the windings or the magnets, they were always mismatched, so when you used a preamp it buffered. The one thing I like is one volume knob. I like blending the pickups, but when you have two volumes, as soon as you go down or up, you loose your blend, so I like one volume knob and a blend control. So the chicken head knob, I turned that into a blend control and then one of the volumes is the volume and the other three knobs are bass, mid and treble. So that's how I got it set up. Both my Red and blue EB-3s have Aguilar OBP3 onboard preamps. I changed the guts to get rid of some of that muddiness." I want the same controls (Varitone etc) as on Mike Watt's bass. Where can I get the components from? Help appreciated - cheers
Found the preamp and wiring is all done here http://www.bestbassgear.com/aguilar-obp3-preamp.htm

 12. From another thread (thanks to Dood) came this rig. Is this available in the UK? Does anyone have first hand experience of this beauty? 13.
brilliant.
Whats that?
 14.
So not a sub bass cab at all then! Alex
No but it will create more brown noise - thats what I'm after.
 15. I am now saving for the Aguilar GS 412! I like the adjustable cross over / horn arrangement. Thanks for all your help.
 16.
Still waiting for you to tell us what the 8x10 is. ABM? MAG? SVT? POS?
ABM
 17.
This all makes me think "why?" If you play big gigs then you'll have PA support and the sound man won't thank you for having such a loud rig fighting with, and probably degrading the overall sound. If you're playing without PA then how much use of such a rig will you make whilst achieving a good band sound?
Good point. Though its not just about volume, but tone and presence. I like to have a good sound on stage as well as out front. Often the foldback just doesn't cut it. After all, the amp has the capability of driving another 4ohm cab so why not?
 18.
I think what it all comes down to, is that the OP doesn't need anything, he just has GAS.
I am genuinely looking at some way of producing more lower frequencies.
 19. How about Picato strings? - much cheaper than Ernie Ball
 20. Please recommend some low tension flat wounds for my acoustic bass guitar (so it won't get torn apart). Thanks.
 21. "For a sub to have significantly better LF performance than your 8x10 it would have to be twice as large" That would be massive! So thats out. To be honest the 810 is plenty - but more is more. Appreciate the rational advice.
