I bought this bass new in 1996 from Thwaites in Watford. Since then it has been upgraded by Bridgewood & Neitzert in London, who altered the angle of the fingerboard providing a far superior action and making it far easier to play. The bass is equipped with a Bridgewood & Nietzert bridge. Included in the sale is a K&K Sound Bass Max transducer pickup which provides an great amplified and recorded sound. Blimey! Those speaker screws are tight - my DeWalt won't budge them and I can't undo them by hand. I've got an impact driver but am afraid I might damage something if I start bashing the screws. Time for some professional intervention. Can anyone recommend someone who could take a look at my cab in the Faversham area - Kent?

I used a multimeter on a speaker cable (one that I know works) plugged into the cab - the ohm reading stayed at '1'. I did the same with my GK cab to check the multimeter and got a reading close to 8 (it's an 8 ohm cab). Therefore there must be a fault with the cab. Next I'll have to check each speaker.

Thanks for your suggestions. It's not the cable. The amp works thru a different cab. So it must be the cab where the fault lies. What next? Is there a fuse in the cab? I can't see how the speakers could have blown (I was playing very quietly) and the cab is rated at 1200w.

Can anyone suggest a possible cause and solution? I have a 5 year old Ashdown ABM Evo II 900 head going into an ABM 810 cab. Up until yesterday I've never had any problems. However, during a practice session the sound cut out. The power still going to the amp, the VU responding to input etc. I checked the line out signal to another amp and that worked. What should I check? What could be the problem? Thanks, Jamie

I dial out the feedback with my old Fishman Dual Parametric EQ. Find the offending frequency then cut it. Like others have said - elevating the amp works for me too.

Hi, I am considering a Schaller bridge for one of my basses. I then discovered a piezo version which Schaller say can be used in a midi set up. Has anyone any experience of these? I have thought about triggering midi devices with a bass for sometime and this could be the answer!

Both pick ups are the standard Sidewinder Humbucker on an EB0. I've got a multimeter, maybe I can check the impedance of the pick ups with that? Cheers.

Hi, I am adding a second pick up to an EBO bass, but just want to keep the controls simple - using existing volume and tone pots - just adding a 3 way selector for neck / both / bridge. Please can any electrical types help me with a diagram. Thanks.

So if my bass is sounding a bit too boomy - I can cut the 180hz range (boom). If I want more clarity - I can boost the 340hz range (clarity) and so on. So the terms are not in my opinion arbitrary. I think it will be useful for me anyway - like you say. Thanks for your input

Man these are fat! Fat and fat tone. Using them on my EB0 with flatwounds. Sounds like the bass you get in 60s European art movie soundtracks. Which is thuddy. And fat. I never thought I could get so much joy from a small piece of felt.

I have two! The mahogany makes for a great tone. A hipshot supertone bridge and dimarzio model 1 pick up really bring out the best. I also routed 4mm out of the neck pocket to give the EB more of a Gibson set neck feel. Had to modify the bridge a bit. Next will be a fretless neck for one of them and the other I will turn into an EB3 - with an Aguilar preamp. I like them. Use a decent set of flats.
