    Been using PayPal for over a decade I think for personal and commercial reasons and if you follow their guides you will never go wrong. 
    PayPal goods and services and I pay the fees for any private sales I do without having the item in my hands. 

     

    Personally I feel the polar opposite; I've been screwed over several times and lost goods and money due to paypal's system/decisions... so it has gone wrong!

     

    I sold something to someone (not BC) and they claimed via paypal that the goods were broken/faulty on arrival.  Goods were returned to me and they got a full refund... only the returned goods weren't the ones I sent and despite my photographic evidence showing different serial numbers they closed the case in the buyer's favour.  I also sold an item and the buyer claimed not to have received the item, filed and got a refund.  I provided proof of postage AND a signature on receipt but apparently it wasn't the recipients signature so I was left trying to claim from the courier who washed their hands of it as they had a signature from the person at the address it was delivered to.  I've had several other disputes via ebay/paypal and it has been a right chew on to get resolution.  

     

    Hey but we each make our own decisions and each to their own.  ;)

    Quite correct and I should know better than to perpetrate that untruth but often it is easier for people to identify the types... but it is incorrect as you say.  ;)

  3. One word... 'Heft'!  

     

    Straight off I'll set out that I have owned (inc the Puma and a small version of the Genz) amps with digital power units, hybrid valve/class D, full valve, class A/B and I've never considered that any class D amp has delivered the authority of a good solid state amp.  

     

    The Thunderfunk 550/750 will not give you 'overdrive/distortion', its focus is a good solid tone which it delivers in spades.  If you are able to A/B them, I'd defo advise seeing if the core tone suits your taste but as for bringing anything extra, I don't think it will if you are happy with what you have.

    Are you comparing active Sandbergs with passive Fenders?  If so, I'd generally expect that even flat, an active bass has the potential to sound 'different'.  

     

    Otherwise basses constructed in exactly the same way from the same materials will sound similar.  Saying that I've found that body woods of Sandbergs are by and large lighter than Fenders (poss better seasoned) and iirc they are smaller than Fenders.  Sandbergs also have a zero fret and better quality bridges (IMHO), which potentially alters the tone.

    Doh!  Really should have looked at the front of the bass for the knobs.  Yep that doesn't look right; it didn't come with stacked pairs.  Someone has done a tidy job. As it happens Warwick couldn't have helped you with that info, as it is after market.  What brand is it on the board?

To be honest chuck a couple of photos up and there are several folk who'll tell you everything you need.  I will say from the off that the email to Warwick 'sometimes' generates an answer that isn't always accurate... I've seen enough examples to challenge that every email is answered by HPW.  ;)

     

  7. The letter stamp is the month: A=Jan B=Feb etc excluding the letter 'i'.  The number following the letter is the sequential number of bass it is that month.  The 2 digit number is the year.  

     

    K148 87 = October 1987 the 148th bass that month

     

    There is the odd exception (Ltd Ed) which vary a little but they are easily read.

  8. Legally/technically et al, if you get paid for doing a gig, it is employment and you 'should' be telling your insurance company and paying the premium.  

     

    In reality... if it is the occasional gig and not your 'job', not many will be doing the above; especially as the excess premium will wipe out 10 gigs worth of money!  If you were to have a bump and it was investigated that you were on the way to/from a gig you could have your insurance void.  I suppose an individual has to do that risk assessment and decide for themselves.  I know of no musician that declares they are a musician (if you know me I stand to be corrected) and I know a lot of them; likewise I don't know anyone who has ever had an accident while gigging... not to say it can't happen.  

     

    I refer back to my first statement as the correct / legal answer.

     

  9. I likewise experimented yesterday.  No amp or cab.  Bass > Sansamp > PA Mixer /  PA Aux > to my RCF310 mounted on a pole stand to the side of the stage at approx ear height.  

     

    Perfectly tolerable mix of my bass, 2 vocals and the guitar, controlled by the app on my phone.  I had a slight issue with 'bloom' on the 'A' which I had to correct on main PA interface at 1/2 time but that was easily fixed.  I do feel that I may need to use my Fishman Plat Pro with the Sansamp to give me greater tonal flexibility; need to keep the Sansamp in as it gives me just the right kind of driven sound I like when just past 12:00.  Oddly other Tech 21 products sound too bloated unless I do radical adjustments.  Added to which I'm not keen on the SIMs and IRs inherent in some of the other pedal options I've tried. 

     

    I now have the dilemma of which better quality cab/monitor do I get which isn't a random/rash decision based on this experiment as I want/need one purely as a FOH single cab for a duo I play acoustic guitar in.  I have four RCF 310s but generally take 1 for small gigs and scale up when needed; a single 'better' monitor would bridge the 1 or 2 310 situation and I could still keep a pair of 310s as add ons.  

     

    So RCF 932 or QSC 12.2!  Unless I disappear down the rabbit hole of alternatives inc 10" options.  I'll never need to go as large as a 15" for any of my situations.

I lent mine (along with my QSC K10.2) to a mate when he had an acoustic gig, accidentally just had an amazing acoustic rig lying around the house!

     

    I liked mine so much I bought the smaller Stage version for home use with my SInsonido and little Ibanez Parlour bass.

     

    Yep I play in a duo where I play acoustic guitar and a flick of the bass/guitar switch and the EQ centres are altered to suit; straight into the PA for the guitar and it sounds great.

    Aside from modelling and multiFX there's quite a few dedicated bass preamps on the market now so maybe finding a store that stocks them and demoing a few would be beneficial. I'd be looking at the following - Ampeg SCR, Palmer Pocket Bass, Laney Digbeth, Eden WTDI, GK Plex (assuming issues with early units have been sorted), EBS Microbass, PJB PE, Two Notes ReVolt, Nux MLD, Genzler Magellan.

     

    I just need a bit of eq, mute switch, compression and a tuner so use a Fishman Pro Platinum as a single do-it-all box. I wish more bass preamp/DI pedals included a tuner tbh.

     

    Ditto.  I went through multiple pedals that have sims or IRs before settling on the good old Sansamp for drive and I kept the Fishman Plat Pro to use with bass and acoustic; it was the most transparent and useful of them all.

And I will keep them (maybe). The Mesa Subway D-800+ and my Epifani UL901 are amazing. Paired with either my Mesa Subway 212 cabs. Or my Mesa Subway 410 cabs. They outshine anything out there. But the Quadcortex and the C.A.B. M have them on file. And now I can have them easily available without having to transport them. The biggest benefit of IEMs (to me) was being able to move anywhere I wanted to, without having a change in sound. Tone doesn't change as well as the mix. You can go to the toilet and your sound remains the same.

    But there is a lot of ignorance out there in regards to IEMs. People hate change. Even when it's for the better.
