  1. Yeah. Well... I've been playing Rapture for weeks and weeks. WRONG! I actually think that the version I've been playing is a bit harder but now I'm going to have to re-learn since I actually looked up the tab - though in my defence I picked up the mistake from YouTube. Next... Boys And Girls by Blur - very repetitive, easy to learn, but getting it fluid and clean will take a bit of practise https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/blur/boys-and-girls-bass-17777
  2. Usually I love the sound of new strings but this Jazz I've got, well, it's hard to tell really. It's been so long since I played with other musicians it's kind of pointless as I've no idea how it sounds in a mix. Sounds good with a cheap USB/Instrument cable going into garage band but I've not pursued that much really. I ought to...
  3. I've been playing Rapture by Blondie - getting those 16th notes raking down strings has been a challenge https://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/tab/blondie/rapture-bass-17043
  4. Well, as the strings have bedded in the E has lost a bit of the nasty harmonic ring. I won't be buying Rotos again though, think I'll try D'darios.
  5. That is one of the most 80s things I've seen in a long time! Enjoy...
  6. Just bought this: My other half's gonna kill me...
  7. No problem - have a bump anyway!
  8. Hi. Nice bass - would you be interested in taking a GK 2x10" cab in part ex?
  9. Argh. Hope not. I just had a set of DR High beans with a duff 1st string. The d’darios on before were rounds and they were okay.
  10. Thanks. I’ve done a good couple of hours practise though and it’s still dissonant. Hopefully it’ll naff off in a few days.
  11. I've just changed the strings on my MIJ Jazz. I don't know what was on before, they came with the bass when I got it - the guy said D'Arrios - pink thread around the top. The 4th string on these new Rotosound '66s sounds like it has a really unpleasant harmonic ring to it that didn't seem to be there before. The pickups aren't too close, and I've tried moving them further away in case and it's made no difference. Anyone else found this? Maybe it'll go away once they're played in a bit. Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this. TBH I wasn't too bothered about the Rotosounds anyway, I've heard they can cause neck trouble further down the line but I had them hanging around - not going to get them next time, for sure. Cheers!
  12. Well... this is a bit embarrassing but one of the reasons I’m replacing the GK is because it doesn’t match my Little Mark III! I do like a matching rig m’self...
  13. SOLD NOW! *just dropped the price to £149 including UK delivery* I’ve just got m’self a new cab so this one is for sale. The price includes UK courier as with lockdown in place I can’t organise collection. It’s only ever been used at home - bedroom levels - never gigged but one corner protector has a dent. Apart from that it’s pristine. It’s a really great thing, light and compact and sounds really good. full spec here https://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Gallien-Krueger-CX-210-8ohm-Bass-Cab/27SU?origin=product-ads&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItZbouZr27QIVF-DtCh063wQbEAQYASABEgLud_D_BwE Payment via PayPal gift or bank transfer. 14. Been playing the markbass NY112 I got from Steve_M chuffed to bits! Fair price. Great communication. Friendly helpful and very happy with the can which arrived in fair time and well packaged. Many thanks!
  15. I saw him last year with Louie Vega and Soul Frito at the Royal Festival Hall. He is just unbelievable. One of the most brilliant bassist of all time IMO. NyYorican Soul is in my top 5 albums.
  16. Just bought a markbass NY 112 cab. The Gallien Kruger cx 210 is fine but it goes not match the amp!
  17. Get a good soldering iron, one that can keep temperature - they only cost a tenner online. I had a crappy one for years and soldering was a 'mare. Now I've got a decent one I won't say it's my ideal evening's entertainment but I don't dread it quite as much.
  18. Hi. Is one of these still available? Cheers!
  19. Okay, heard back and it's on hold. Will update when it's been posted. Hope it's useful...
  20. Hi. I bought this blue pearled scratchplate to go on my Japanese Jazz bass but I don't like the colour and it won't fit without a bit of fettling which I don't want to do. Free to the first person to send me a stamped addressed Jiffy bag. I don't know if you could get away with this just 2nd class large envelope - anyway, happy to put it in the post box for you. Still got the plastic film on it. PM me for my address.
  21. I hope you'd stocked up on toilet paper early on then because... well... even if you got wet'n'dry, things are going to be *ahem* uncomfortable.
