3. as some of you may be aware, the LH1000 is gone. was a great, loud amp, but it just felt like i was tweaking all the time, never able to get MY sound. i was never really happy after my GK 1001RB. cue the MB; man what sound! does everything that my RB did+++++. it really is incredible that such a racket comes out of that wee box. i've done a few gigs with it, and everyone is amazed at it. had more than 1 person ask 'so you're plugging into that pre-amp? where's the power amp though?' i am pleased! 4. hey all - started a custom jazz bass build a wee while ago. plan is; swamp ash body (trans black), maple neck, black hardware, EMG 35DC x2, EMG BTS. Body nice wee slab of swamp ash the body is cut and routed. i took a template from my '64 jazz reissue. so far, the arm and belly cuts are done, neck pocket rout, control cavity rout. i decided to use neck ferrules (5 of), offset, allowing for a contour at the heel. Neck pretty cheap 21 fret dr parts neck - frets are all levelled and dressed. came as a p bass neck - yes, the headstock shape does look a wee bit familiar , but i couldn't afford a sadowsky... thats about the lot for now. i'll post more when i get a bit more done!
5. i would never consider getting anything else from them again, no matter what the price. i ordered a cab from them, which was reported to be in stock, and at a great price. not only was it not in stock (1st excuse 1 week on, no contact), but 'we couldn't possible sell it at that price if we did have it'. didn't stop them taking the money from my account immediately though. with excuses and attempts to sell me ex demo stock, it took me about 3 weeks and 7/8 calls to get my money back. they were pretty arsey about it too.

10.
Seem to remember reading eons ago he close mikes up his tweeter... Whatever you think of his playing you have to admit he's got a pretty unique sound (as have Korn really)
bingo - mike on the tweeter. has a really complex setup of 10's. 15's and 18's as well.
11. good god - has this music already become so diluted that we need matching outfits, haircuts and now ridiculous co-ordinated 'dances'. every other band we play with sounds and looks like this, although the 'need to pee' dance is admittedly a new for me. a step too far in the quest to be original methinks - 'attack attack. what are they like?' well, they have chuggy riffs, and err, screamy singy vocals, and um they all have tattoos and really tight jeans. 'nope, not narrowing it down there' ah, they jog on the spot and dance like they have 30 kilo gonads. 'oh them' suppose it worked then...
12.
Mr 8ball, that is one of the best metal poses I've ever seen
ha ha! i've got plenty more where that came from! sold now guys, cheers!
13. Oh yeah, I'd be willing to deliver in and around glasgow if needs be.
14. Hope this is ok to post here - if not, apologies mods! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...=STRK:MESELX:IT
15. Alright guys - the Hartke is up for sale. Pulled the trigger (somewhat hastily) on a GK MB2 500, so really need to recoup some funds (Mrs. Eightball is about to make me Mr. Oneball!). The amp has been cased since new, so really is as new. It has a Tung Sol tube fitted (search for my post about tubes in this amp), which sounds awesome. It comes with the manual and flight case. I have the boxes if anyone wants them, but that could only really work with pickup, or posting without the flightcase. I'm after £350 in the flightcase £20 shipping (it's pretty effing heavy!). That's a lot of watts for not a lot of money! It's on the bay, but i'll pull it for the guys on here if anyone wants it (which i'd prefer tbh!). Obviously the tuner and wireless ain't included!

18.
Very interesting and congratulations by the way! Been thinking about doing the same thing myself, so this is encouraging news..
cheers fox! really really chuffed with it. there is a wee bit of fettling to be done, but well worth it. if you bite the bullet, i'll be happy to give you any pointers that may help.
19. well guys, fitted the speakons to my goliath II's - what a difference! tighter, much more focused, deeper, crisper... oh, and louder! it just sounds more right, more alive - kind of like lifting a blanket off the cabs. as a blind test, my wife was unaware i'd done anything to them and spontaneously asked 'what did you mess with now? that sounds different to normal'. she described the sound as 'more together, less boomy' and 'less painful and muddy, but even bloody louder!'. get on a lot better with the LH1000 as a result. not got to try it live yet, but i have high hopes! thanks again to alex et all for the input! i know where i stand on the speakon vs 1/4" debate:) awesome result for £20 odd and a bit of effort!
20. aye, absolutely normal. my LH1000 does this too.
21. sans beard now - think i miss it though. razors cost a bloody fortune! do i really need 5 blades? Do i?!!!
22.
Sounds right to me...but what's wrong with the old banana plugs? I've always liked them, nice and simple.
cheers alex and escholl! mission is go! i'll stick up some pics when i'm done. bassbod - half of one of the bananas is missing anyway, plus i'm presently running my cabs from the LH1000, so speakons seem a bit more appropriate. my rig does get driven pretty hard!
23. right, i'm gonna wire some speakons into my SWR Golaith II's - plan is to relocate the crossover from the jackplate, and put in the speakons where the red/black poles currently are. i'll use the wiring from these for the speakons. not so much of a query as a confirmation; i figure the +ve wire from the red pole should be wired to +1 on the speakon, piggybacked to the +1 on the other speakon. -ve wire from the black pole to the -1 on the speakon, piggybacked to the -1 on the other speakon. 95% sure i'm correct, but will feel a lot better about it with the basschat seal of approval! apologies for my brain leak!
24. esp will deliver and collect from the venue - they have GK, Ampeg etc.
