That's hilarious. The band name, the clothes, the hairstyles. Would love to check them out on YT, but I am concerned that when I type in their band name, I will then be bombarded with certain ads and if my wife sees them, she will get concerned 😉

I yours @Eldon Tyrell might be for sale/trade on the Vintage BB Facebook group.
It's blurry as I've had to zoom in lots on a compressed fb image, but look at that dark bit of grain to the top left of the volume knob compared to your picture above.
Yours,
The one on Facebook,
Well spotted, DCI @Maude 🙂

Congrats! I am sure you will enjoy it. I recently owned its sibling in the sunburst finish, also from 78.
Great bass with lots of oomph. Unfortunately, I recently had to sell it to pay some bills. Sad but true 😞Maybe someone here got it (sold it via BassBros). Whoever got it - you got yourself a great bargain!

Unfortunately, this one has this idiot attached to it, so by that metric it's probably only worth about 50p now...
Happy to pay you 50p, won't even haggle, because it's Christmas time. Shall I send you my address for delivery? 😉

I once looked into buying a Fender Precision but amongst the eye watering range of apparently the same instrument from relatively cheap to eye watering prices, I couldn’t decide which one to get………. apparently there’s even one called a Vintera (without Vintera on the headstock) and an Ultra, an Ultra 11, American Professional, American Professional 11 - and various other baffling models.
I am sure Fender will eventually release an American Pro 11 but at the moment we are still only at nr 2 (II) 😉
BTW, there is no Ultra II, at least not at the moment, maybe you know more than us (NAMM is around the corner so maybe you have some insider intel :-). There is a Vintera II and an American Vintage II though.

Although the design of the Stingray 5 was based on the Silhouette guitar, so it looks nothing like the Stingray 4. Years later they made a 5 string based on the Stingray 4, which they called the Classic Stingray 5.
I am confident that in one universe of the multiverse, this makes perfect sense.

I also think Sterling by Music Man should reach out to Sting and offer him a Ray 34 as a signature bass. Would then be the Sting Ray 34. 😜
Ok, ok, I better go 😉

Very tempting but someone has to by my 74 Fender P from Andy Baxter first before I have money to spend on beauties like this one.

And the SUB that was made in America, with American parts and was almost an American stingray but not quite and definitely not a SUB that was made as a completely different cheap model elsewhere with completely different parts and body... . Honestly, they're baffling!
Not to mention that there was also a US made Music Man SUB and a Music Man S.U.B.

Please talk me out of that. Please 🙂
Talk you OUT of it? Really? You do know that you are on Basschat here, so the least you can expect is that we'll do our very best to talk you INTO it 😉

Is it possible to see some photos of the back of the bass please? What is the weight?
Cheers!

Funnily enough I read he only used the P pickups with the J’s turned off with that version. So it makes you kinda wonder why Spector didn’t just dump the J’s put his signature as it is and stick the crowns in.
Yes, he mentions it in this video (2:42).
Let's hope that Spector brings back the previous model (with or without the J). The current signature model is a limited edition anyway, to celebrate 50 years of JP (well, the 50th anniversary was in 2019). That's why it has the big inlay. https://www.spectorbass.com/product/euro4-ian-hill/

That's how his previous PJ version looked like. I guess I have to try and find one now!

Right time of the year to enjoy this classic from 93. Wait, that's 30 years ago!! Man, time flies 😞

I know Spector started with natural wood finishes back in 77 (walnut wings) and in the 90s started with all the fancy wood tops (buckeye burl etc.). However, for me the black and white gloss ones are still my absolute favs, esp. Eddie's black one and Mike Starr's white one.
BTW, in case some of you haven't done so, check out PJ Rubal's (Spector's former VP) website that features his basses from all pre-Korg eras (i.e., Brooklyn, Kramer, SSD and Woodstock): https://vintagespector.com/index.html
I think he must have one, if not the largest collection of Spector basses, probably closely followed by our very own @cetera 🙂

I've been tormented by not owning a Spector bass on and off for a very long time now. I definitely deserve one, but the pound to dollar exchange rate doesn't look like improving anytime soon.
There are not many basses left that I still hanker for, but a full-tilt USA NS2 is very tempting. I love the sound that Eddie Jackson got with his on those classic Queensryche albums, and there are so many other examples I could point to. If I could remember them right now.
If your budget is not enough for a NS-2, here are some gloss black alternatives:
Spector Euro 4 Classic in black for £2.6k
https://www.thomann.de/gb/spector_euro_4_classic_solid_black.htm
Spector Ian Hill Signature bass 50th anniversary for £2k. Great price but the JP inlay is a bit of an eyesore. Sorry, JP fans 😉

Same here. Check out this headless guy and his great take on two of my fav QR songs. Sounds killer!
Kramer era NS-2 in gloss black. Man, that's the bass to have (and my black Forte was modelled on it, incl. the thinner neck specs, just without the inlays and with black hardware instead of gold).

Go for it. It is a great bass. You can haggle a bit too: The knobs are not the original ones!
