  1. Nice! Reminded me of Easy Skanking. Softer Babylon.
  2. I've purchased SO many copies of Kind Of Blue over the years. I hope you bought the Columbia/Legacy CK64935 release. It's easily the best sounding of the bunch, and the first (OK, second, but the Mastersound version doesn't have the alternate take of Flamenco Sketches) to correct the speed issue on 3 songs. The tape deck used in their recording was 5% off speed, and those songs were sharp enough to sound in the wrong key.
  3. I accidentally stumbled into the first of two Miles Davis shows at the Plugged Nickel in Chicago just before Xmas '65. I was looking for a blues show, but saw a big line of peeps, and went for it. What a way to get introduced to jazz!
  4. That was SO much better than I expected. Sub'd their channel. Got to send this to my French sister-in-law!
  5. I'd put them in a place similar to Gil Scott-Heron.
  6. Ah, man, can 2020 get any worse? RIP, Toots! You've earned your walk across the rainbow bridge. Love ya, man! I need something to cheer up a little.
  7. She did a pretty good job in Conan The Destroyer. They were filming around Puerto Vallarta when I was staying there in the early '80s. I saw Schwarzenegger with the long hair once, but never [sob] Grace.
  8. Playlists made for each. I added all of the Lost Dog Street Band albums to the Benjamin Tod playlist. I have a hard time with his last name. It means "dead" in German.
  9. I'll do that. Something like this is where Amazon Music Unlimited really pays off. I see a new playlist coming.
  10. I'm with you for the type of country you posted. Musicians writing and performing songs. All good. But I could never get over the feeling that a lot of modern country sounds pretty much the same. And then I watched this, and felt somewhat vindicated. I don't mean to suggest that there are no good country songwriters anymore. There are. Some very good ones. Just tough to wade through the drivel to get to it.
  11. Never heard of these guys. About time! All of the albums are available for streaming on Amazon Unlimited (what I have; not sure about just Prime).
  12. The man is one-of-a-kind. I've seen most of his films. There are some films, Naked Lunch included, that are terrific films, but hard to watch. I want to see if his music is the same...well crafted, but not something I'd want to cover.
  13. So this is what he's gotten up to after Eraserhead? I got me some listenin' to do!
  14. Yes, I too have sung into a beer can. And talked to Ralph on the big white phone.
  15. Sub'd the Dubbeez (even though the photo is reversed; bass player is right-handed). Enjoyed the Baru tune! Nice fusion of indigenous Australian music with reggae.
  16. Just read your sig. It's fantastic! I can just picture Lee cleaning the spit off his beard. 😂
  17. Oddly, this reminds me of the island of St. John's (visible from St. Thomas), referred to by the locals as the island for newlyweds and nearly deads.
