1. Wow! I'll definitely want to keep an eye on this build--it promises to be another amazing creation! It seems like there's no challenge that Alan's not up for these days (aside from blue gum and buckeye ). Makes me think that my doubleneck idea might not be so crazy after all...
2.
You certainly do... I can't even tell what it is!
Curbow Petite 5..
3. I really need to take some better pictures of mine:
4.
I doubt very much he's working solidly 24 hours a day and it only takes a minute to email a customer.
Not everyone is particularly tech-savvy or into communicating via email. Also, for those who don't spend a lot of time in front of a computer, it can take a lot longer than "a minute" to reply to an email. A phone call is generally much quicker and easier to respond to.
5. I take the view that if you can afford it and enjoy it, why shouldn't you have nice gear? There's no need to "justify" by claiming that your gig (or heaven forbid, your technical prowess!) requires it, or that no one will take you seriously with cheap gear (as others have said, no one else besides other bass players really cares!). It's a mistake to convince yourself that expensive gear will make you a better player, as well. But I personally just enjoy playing nice instruments, and since I'm doing this mostly for enjoyment anyway, why shouldn't I play an instrument that will maximize my enjoyment?
6.
Absolutely stunning! He's a fairly talented chap that Alan ain't he Eude
He is indeed--this one looks fantastic! Like everyone else, I'm anxious to hear your opinion of the P pickup, but I can imagine it being a fantastic match with the ACG preamp!
7.
Altered the spec a tad (Apols Alan, I know i'm a king size dithering pain in the arse)! Going for the "Salace" shaped body, It's a thing of beauty and I couldn't resist! the Finn will be next when I've sold something. The pic attached is of the shape for a headless Salace (taken from the affiliates thread), this one will have a headstock so it will be a wee bit different to this but you get an idea.
I like it--the Salace shape is one of my favorites at this point, and it'll be nice to see some different examples.
8.
Or even "stripey", bloody apple auto correct thing!
Woo-hoo! I really like purpleheart and zebrano together, and I expect this one will be gorgeous!
9.
My wife thinks it looks like our cat, thus I'm no longer in trouble for spending the holiday money on it! Go figure that one!
If it works to get you out of trouble, just smile and say "Yes, Dear..."
10. Wow! That northern ash looks like it has even more grain than the swamp ash--awesome!
11. Looks great! I love the contrast between the ash headstock/heelcap and the dark woods in the neck, especially.
12. The "humbucker at the neck, single coil at the bridge" arrangement usually looks a bit odd to me, but on this bass it fits--looking forward to watching it come together!
13. Should be a stunner, Eude! That's quite a lovely bit of ziricote for the top, and it should look great combined with the ash and wenge.
14. I've been lusting after this bass ever since it went up for sale last summer--amazing price for an instrument of this quality! Just wish it was reasonable to ship overseas, and wish I had the money!
15. I love it when builders (and their customers) take care to bring all the different visual elements of an instrument together, especially the woods. Limba and wenge are a nice match, and I think this is going to be a wonderful, elegant instrument! Mike
16.
just to say, if anyones in the area. More than welcome to pop by if im available
Better to pop by when you're NOT available and make off with the goods, I'd say! Beautiful bass! Can't wait to hear a detailed review... Mike
17. Loverly--can't wait to see that one finished!
