  2. For sale is a wine red BB604 active bass.

I purchased this bass after falling in love with my BB605. However, I have now decided that I do not need a BB604 and a BB605 as they are tonally very similar. The condition is really good apart from a ding below the neck plate (see images), there are also a few surface scratches but all in all very good condition for an almost 20 year old bass.

    Any questions, let me know.

I got a pair of Delano pickups for my BB605. I tend to prefer the 605 to the 735. Both are really good, but the BB605 feels better in my hands. It feels even better than basses that I have that cost a lot more.

I agree my 605 is my favourite bass out of my lot. I prefer the preamp on my 734 but the 605 is so nice to play and still good enough to get some great tones. I might look into upgrading the pickups and preamp after seeing what @javi_bassist has done!

Nice! I have a similar CIJ mustang in vintage white as well as a JMJ. Both great basses. The JMJ is probably the one I favour most of the time but but the slim neck on the CIJ practically plays itself.

Wow, that is the ultimate combination 😍

  5. After having a couple of false starts with short scale I have finally picked up a beauty of a bass. A 2005 CIJ Fender Mustang in Fiesta Red.

It arrived earlier this week and the first thing I did was put some TI Flats. It has a great vintage tone and is a joy to play. The neck is really nice and feels like a jazz bass.

I had a JMJ for a few days before returning it due a to a few little issues. I think the JMJ had the slight edge in terms of tone output from the pickup, that is a very special pickup. But I do prefer the finish and neck on this instrument over the JMJ.

It is such a fun bass to play with a lovely tone. This one is a keeper for sure 😀😀

So if you'd like to provide a loving stable "forever" home to a BB that's been left in a loft, or no longer gigged due to basschat "Glass back syndrome". Contact Dr Travs, BB relocation and restoration service! A few months ago he very kindly took delivery of a vintage white BB425 from a very lovely man, which he stripped down and setup. And brought to live with my flock. He even fitted a BB1025/P35 bridge which a nice man on BC was selling.

Not two days ago he brought to live with me an 80s BB350f fretless in Pearl White (It goes pink in the sunlight, awesome) from a funny fellow in eBay land, that probably used it as a doorstop or something. he replaced a broken bridge and gave it his famous TLC, he even gave it a chance to be fretted, but it still wants to identify as a fretless in as world that isn't kind to fretless. So if you have it in your heart to love a BB that currently is about as popular as an excitable dog at a miss lovelylegs contest, please donate to Dr Travs and his team of magical elves.

So I present my two current BB'S

    "The White Sisters"

BB425 in vintage white with an upgraded Yamaha vintage + bridge AKA - Jayne

BB350f in pearl White AKA- Luna

Another shout out to the lovely @Hacksawbob for tracing his 5 string pickguard, which means Jayne will be getting a new Tort frock 😁

And yet interestingly, for tonal reasons, if I had to choose between the 734A and the BBP34, I'd choose the 734A.

I have been very impressed with the sounds I can get out of the 734A. I have also been very surprised how good it sounds in passive mode and I love the fact there is no change in volume when switching between active and passive.

  8. @Ricky Rioli @ChrisJaxon thanks for the reply.

I know what you mean with the BB growl that you get from the nickel rounds. I do like that sound but I find the nickel strings it came with sound a little dull in tone.

I might have to give some chrome's a try. I have stainless steel rounds on my BB604 and 605 which I love but I do like the idea of a classic sound with the P pickup (this is my only non jazz configuration).
