  1. Haha! Love it, the grit and character, but the guys and previous recordings are used to my Darkglass stuff, hence that! I recorded some bits on B7k/Alpha Omegas so I guess that’ll be the upcoming for the band at least for this EP round…! just posted it for sale, let me know…!
  2. *Darkglass and effectrode sold Selling a few pedals to clear out as staying with my mini board: Fuzzrocious Lil Fella - £120 - mint condition - covers distortion to fuzz, internal noise gate, super versatile Tate FX Buffer - £40 - buffer working up to 18v, confirmed by TateFx same pedal as current £75 pedal (can share conversation on instagram with them) - lights up on the bottom and changes colour. Postage not included.
  3. Also learnt about pedal order... FUZZ FIRST has been a big reveal That also frees up the DI from the B7k in case I need to use it.
  4. Hmm, interesting! Guess I could open the good old debate of Microtubes X7 vs Alpha Omega, I kind of want to stick to Darkglass...!
  5. Aha! thanks @fretmeister those are actually pretty cheap, could give them a go...! As you can see by the picture I quickly maxed out the B7k's distortion @Cuzzie and @andruca ... Love the sound as is but could do with some more I reckon... Hmmmmmmm may be Alpha Omega time? Ander.
  6. hm! I feel the aftershock may have too many models and options, but that’s just me as I don’t like to fiddle or connect pedals and gear to the laptop for edits etc etc… I may change my mind one day and explore it. I had the AO Photon and it just felt overkill but that’s just me, I know it’s a great rig! Ander.
  7. Well here's mine! A dance of compressors and distortion pedals, but I've decided to run the Darkglass B7k into the ThorpyFX Fat General compressor clone which is working great as I'm always into evening out my clean and distorted signals... 5 outputs from my Harley Benton power supply, 5 pedals, all snug and tidy with flat patch cables from EBS... I should be (and am) a happy boy, but ah, I could squeeze in an octaver or something with the Nano Plus, couldn't I? Ander.
  8. Hey guys...! I am sorry on the delay, Jesus it's been busy, with new year, work and whatnot it's all been a bit busy! I just wanted to say thanks for your comments - the videos from @andruca were really good in showing the character of these boxes! I ended up going for Darkglass yet again, hoping it doesn't suck out much bass on the EQ - at home volumes I've managed to get good results, so there's hopes...! Just to make sure both clean and distorted signals are more even, I've put the distortion before the compression (you can't imagine how sophisticated I feel). The comp is a Fat General clone I just got here this morning... LOVE IT for a third of the price of the original...! I'll try that tomorrow loud over rehearsal... Also, I somehow want enough distortion that I've maxed it out 😁 love the character as is and think it will be enough tbh, but I can still hear @Cuzzie mentioning the AO Ultra, I let go of that one maybe too quickly when maybe it was the one to keep!
  9. Hey guys... ... Hoping you can help me out here - I am not convinced on the sound I get from my Fuzzrocious Lil Fella, for punk rock - love the grain and the amount of distortion I get, BUT, as usual with my EQ settings, I can tell it 'eats out' a lot of bass; also the problem is whilst the pedal is fantastic, I can't boost the bass/low frequencies to match the clean tone I get. In an ideal scenario I'd switch from clean to distortion with the same amount of bass. So, that makes me think I need a distortion pedal with bass controls? Playing punk rock as I do (I do like to use plenty of tight distortion when I can, even down to the metal/heavy range), with mostly passive basses (precision, Ricky 4003, stingray active but scooped and static settings) - what suits me better? I'm mostly between the B7k and the sans amp, the sans amp is an epic pedal but have never owned it, and the Darkglass I'll probs understand it well as I've had a few Darkglass pedals... the last option is the Source Audio after shock to get both tastes and knowing myself but I've got tube drive and fuzz covered with my ABM 600 and the woolly mammoth... and I rarely have patience to play with digital settings and apps etc although I could be seduced to if that can mimic those tones perfectly and be set up easily. Best, Ander.
  10. I'm with 2 bands, recording and gigging on a rather relaxed schedule though... I don't think I can justify more than £2k these days, new or used! With that in mind, I rather buy 2nd hand, there's great stuff if you wait enough. My AO Precision 60s was around 1500, my MM SR 4HH Special even less (banging deal) and now I've got a Ricky 4003 Ruby red inbound for 1800£ - and I feel a bit guilty about that one, but missus insisted for xmas... Ander.
  11. It is indeed, I’ve a strong feeling I’ll regret selling it but like I say, I only have three hangers and probably about the only bass I haven’t had is a Ric, so there we go…
  12. Selling a shortly owned whilst very loved Jazz bass in a discontinued Sonic Blue colour. Nitrocellulose, Pure Vintage '64 pickups (only on this bass and the flea, not available separately), all case and candy. Strung with D'daddario XT's - NEW, can show receipt. Only blemish is on the side of the upper horn, not a ding, must be a superficial scratch/mark, there's still paint/nitro on it and even if I'm picky with my stuff it has not bothered me. Seen an itch I have to scratch (Ric 4003 Jetglo) so selling it for same as I bought it or very near offer. Colour goes from almost white to greenish or baby blue, lovely indeed!

  14. oh and no trouble with the 18v operation as I've got 9/12/18v on my (HARLEY BENTON!) power supply!
  15. Hey Lee, so good to hear from you buddy, thank you for your post! Ah, I do remember the Nemphasis I had from you, the last pedal I held onto before I oversimplified my rig - that was in between bands and now that I'm full back into one band and forming another, pedals get important again, aye? The Nemphasis had that very nice tone-enhancing, always on mode I liked with simple operation. Whilst I'm more permissive to 'just fatten up' and sacrifice treble for neosoul and clean, for my punk rock gig I need to keep that treble (going in with Jazz neck pickup mostly) whilst thickening up a bit... I do all pick so it's not like I need a lot of attack/release controls, long as all strings sound similar volume and it 'riches up' the tone, I'll be happy... I do have that feeling that the Effectrode would satisfy more my 'clean rig', especially on a P bass with flats, that low mids thing, but not as sure that it does for the distortion and fuzz I add behind it on passages with the punk rock band...! I will be getting the Diamond with the adaptor and the power supply for £170 which seems a steal considering they're all £250ish and outside UK... Will try to do an A/B once I'm back and decide from there - nice of the Effectrode on the top mounting jacks and love the silent operation but I've heard it the Diamond is really quiet too (phew!). As you suggest, with the EQ control I can fatten up for neosoul and boost treble for punk rock if need be. Best, Ander.
  16. So I offer meself, my good gear and spacious Mazda for an originals band... I'm currently rehearsing about once a week (not strict) weekdays for my punk rock band Barking Poets, so I'm looking for something to do on the weekend. I do not know theory and almost neither the notes but I have been playing for a while and nobody has complained - I write all my lines pretty quickly too. Live experience in front of 4 punters same as a sold out show in Scala, London, for 1k+ folk. Would love neosoul/motown.. potentially some not-too-technical metal... I'd like to have a band to play finger style but I do pick as well. Ander.

  18. Hmmm…! If only I had a clue about soldering and that world of clones I would well consider - geez the fat general is now a hefty £240…! I remember not so long ago it was £170, oh well…! Going for that Diamond BCP-1, at £170 I have to try it then will sell whichever I like least out of those two… I would defo like a try at the Fat General or clone if I see any…! Ander.
  19. … and a Diamond BCP-1 appeared near my hometown in Spain for £170 😃 will pick up sometime next week, this could be a very interesting thread as a comparison! Ander.
  20. Hahaha! I will not lie i do remember I had a conversation regarding the Fat General some time ago with another basschatter, some 2-3 years ago before I gave up on pedals only to come back again 😂 funny enough I was speaking recently in PM with another bc’er interested in my Effectrode… oh lord…! so you have it? Have you had a chance to have a go at it? Hmmm! Ander.
  21. Hey gang, I've always liked my compressors simple (not many knobs, easy to set) and 'always on' / tone enhancing types. Need them to thicken up my treble strings playing on pick with distortion and fatten up everything on clean and finger style. I've recently built a mini board and an Effectrode PC-2A is at the heart of it - now whilst on holidays in Spain I've a chance for a Diamond BCP-1 at around £200, same as the Effectrode I have. What shall I expect? Is it worth a swap? I know the general advise will be 'get both, sell whichever you like least', and probably is what I will be doing, but I do not have a lot of experience with compressors and would love to hear your thoughts or experiences from folks who've had both, and definitely a 'what to listen for'. Like I said I like simple operation, tone enhancing, always on and versatility for pick/fingers over clean/distortion - little do I ask eh?! Hoping this will evolve into a comparison/review once I have both, with the help of everyone I hope! Thanks! Ander.
  22. Hahaha most definitely! The dispersion of this cab is great even at low volume - and it encourages everyone else to play a bit louder too!
  23. Ah @Ralf1e, yes, I will be doing Hipshot detuner on the P bass to do Drop D if necessary (there's always the odd tune) and the Stingray on D Standard along with a detuner to get to Drop C - that should make me not want a 5er, at least for longer (was also considering BEAD, we'll see, there's this band I'm listening to a lot that does Drop C and may well want to stay there). @police squad yes, same! 80% of the basses in the last 2 years have been either stingrays or precisions, so this jazz is a nice great addition - somehow never managed to have a P and a Ray at the same time either, guess I've been too black or white, all P's or all Rays...! @lidl e have never tried a Rickenbacker and they're popping up more often than ever, but the missus and I agreed that I should stick to 'just' 3 hangers on the wall considering all the other bits I've got at the moment (including a potential baby and a motorcycle, ha!)... Ah, a nice jetglo would look grand on stage though aye? Not so sure about the neck width and tales I've heard about playability though...! Always have interpreted the Ric as a power jazz... but then again I'd define the Ray as a power jazz with the P thickness so I'll just say (or want to believe) I'm covered! Best, Ander.
